Wii U is struggling really bad in Japan but it is reasonable since it has a piss poor line up in Japan for Q1.
I remember there being a thread while back saying is there any reason the Wii U would not dominate Japanese sales as it had NSMBU, DQX and MH. Now it is getting outsold by the PS3 without a price cut. Though that question is still up for debate in the long term it certainly does not seem it will dominate this first half of the year like many though.
The new announcements while showed Nintendo's first party strength, does not mean much as no release dates were given. First half of the year still looks just as barren and there is another problem.
The lack of third party support in Japan: One piece game, the Jump all stars game, Dynasty Warriors, Lightning Returns, MGR all seem to be PS3 games. Someone said that Iwata had recognised the lack of third party support and proposed more collaborations with third party such as Bayonetta 2, W101, Fire Emblem x SMT. I see this as worrying as it seems they have given up on getting that much needed support.
