Lol at Yakuza.
They should have made a Yakuza saga which included all 5 of the games.
Only the first two seems so random and cheap. Bomba deserved.
Mario & Luigi is selling more than it deserves imho...
i am probably gonna sound like a broken record here but i still maintain that no accurate assessment can be made regarding PS4 sales in Japan until we know of its full launch line up ( which is unknown at this point ) Until TGS has passed and we know when they are releasing it over there (either this year or early next year would be my guess and depending on what stock Sony can deliver)
Until then most attempts at trying to do so are shooting blindly in the dark in my eyes.
Can the Wii U even run Yakuza 3-5?
Yeah, that's why I asked if we knew a launch lineup because I couldn't find anything. It'll be interesting.
Can the Wii U even run Yakuza 3-5? Yakuza 1+2 HD were released on the PS3 already and I believe it did well.
..and have you even considered how much a full on collection of at least Yakuza 1-4 on Wii U would even cost?
Maybe not huge (except AC), but there's definitely been a steady stream of 'fairly big' titles. The sort of titles the Vita would kill for.
I believe economies of scale will allow them to cut costs and keep the same models, while introducing a new 3DS model with a better screen. So that current owners upgrade. We'll most likely see a better 3DS model in the next 5 years.Next year is probably the moment to introduce a new and cheaper to produce basic 3DS model to maximize their margins on every unit sold.
Animal Crossing was released November last year in Japan.
I think the biggest game that came out this year for 3DS in japan was probably Luigi's Mansion? maybe I'm forgetting a bigger one. Obviously 3DS numbers are going to jump quite a lot for the rest of the year, but if 3DS doesn't sell as good as it did last November or December this November or December, then this discussion would make more sense IMO.
Tomodachi Collection. Plus it has sold far more digitally too.Animal Crossing was released November last year in Japan.

You're forgetting about Tomodachi Collection. I don't know why people don't consider it a huge game. Easily selling over a million is not a common thing. The game is probably going to end up with a better LTD than Mario 3D Land.

Wii U holding at 9K it seems, but it's still ~150 less than the previous week.
Wait, what?
NDS 101 Weeks: 12.0 mil - Quote 1
NDS 129 Weeks: 17.2 mil - Quote 2
So in 28 weeks NDS sold 5.2 million?
Sales this week are in nano and microunits.
Also, I was about to post this in the previous thread for the curious.

Wii U holding at 9K it seems, but it's still ~200 less than the previous week.
Negative momentum is not good, Nintendo.
Also, Yakuza didn't hit the Top 30 on Famitsu, so <4K debut sales confirmed.

AmazingWow! Yakuza is off the charts.
Is it just me or is this pathetic? I mean this is bad, abysmal sales numbers. In general, this makes console game sales look almost non existent in Japan now compared to last generation and even compared to US sales, this makes it look as if no one cares over there anymore. Or am I off base here? Just doesn't seem like it used to be and it's a little depressing.
I find it odd to use more than one chart personally and thanks to the title of this thread, I've come to accept media create's numbers as fact and Famitsu's numbers as estimates, both are obviously estimates and anyone can choose which ever they want to track, but for the sake of discussing sales numbers, it always confuses me to talk about Famitsu's numbers when media create's is there.
The numbers don't seem like that big of a difference, but even the drop rate is quite a bit bigger with Famitsu's numbers than Media Create's which is only 88 for Wii U this week. Both could just be static, even the differences between MC and Famitsu's numbers could simply be one trying to correct their own numbers.
Anyways oddly holding right now is good for Wii U, software is coming pretty soon, the real trick is that after software starts coming out every 2 or 3 weeks, will we see it's baseline over 20k a week or not. Because realistically it needs to get to about 25k a week on average to really have any real market share in japan (if it does an average of 25k over the next 4 years, it will end up with about 7million units by the end of 2017, which is about the right time we can expect a successor)
All these 'Wii U is not next gen' jokes got to me @_@I'm sure it can, why shouldn't it?
When was the last time that actually worked >_>;And anyway that would be a risky option I won't deny it, but risks sometimes bring results.
Making a port of two games from 2005 is simply lazy, if it's at full price (I don't know).
I was interested but know I'm sure they won't port the other three chapters so what's the point, I'll buy them all for the PS3.

I believe the truth lies somewhere in between Famitsu's under-tracked numbers and Media Create's over-tracked numbers.
So I like to bring up Famitsu as the "low estimate."
The point is...in both trackers, there was a Wii U drop this week, indicating negative momentum for the console.
Sony needs to moneyhat an exclusive Yakuza game or something else big. Judging from the numbers it seems like Japan wants to support the hardware, but with the current library it's simply asking too much from them.
Dynasty Warrior 8 kinda sold like shit compared to Dynasty Warrior 7...

I don't think Sony needs to moneyhat yakuza now.
There's a reason there are very, very few notable Japanese console games these days.

I wonder if your tune would've been different if it had sold well =P
...but if I get what you're saying right: Releasing Yazuka 1+2 HD on PS3 would not be lazy, but releasing it on Wii U is?
OK I can get releasing Yakuza 5 would've been a better choice, although would SEGA have had an agreement with Sony for exclusivity?
Interestingly enough PS3 ver. was released in Nov. 2012.
There would be no need for that as the main fanbase is on PS3 and The devs know that.
so those games will come to PS3 naturally.
moneyhatting would be a waste of money.
Edit : beaten.
