That's what I meant. Not that long now...
Kill it with fire.
obviously its going to be nintendo titles lol.
Well Wii, GC and N64 aside how does the millionseller list look on DS. I would think it had quite a few of those.
wasnt that one girly sega game the first millionseller of sega in ages?
I'll give duckroll a rest:

Since you asked for it, let's do it again. These are all Famitsu numbers. PS1 vs PS2 vs PS3, first party games bolded, cutoff point at 664k:

Playstation 3
Vita and WiiU seem to be having a limbo contest
Poor PS3 =( Can't believe how terribly it has done in Japan compared to it's predecessors.

What's the date fo the Wii U price drop/ZWW bundle in Japan?

i noticed you posting similar posts in another thread.10k for W101, thats a bomba. We're allowed to call it that now its been a "full week+ of sales" after all!
Seeing Lost Planet 3 far outsell it is pretty fucking weird. Guess that franchise really earned some loyal fans.
Sony should have got Namco to plop JoJo on Vita as well really since that tactic seems to work a lot, but instead a big Vita dip. MH and Pokemon season isnt going to be kind to its survival.
WiiU is just done.
The best news of the week though is XIV:RR! That many on PS3 alone, I wonder how many Japanese PC version sales there were. Square should release PR and numbers really, nothing to be ashamed of here. Would go a long way to explaining the constantly fucked to the brim servers too.

Why people think the japanese console market only means Playstation?
The PS3 numbers are so bad mainly because of the Wii.
Someone please compare million sellers of PS1+N64 vs PS2+GC vs Wii+PS3.

As was on every Nintendo system ever (with different proportion but Nintendo is the main software seller by a large margin). That's not really true though. For the entire market, you need to look at the stakeholders involved. On the Wii it was basically all Nintendo, all the time. This represents a clear decline across the market for every publisher except Nintendo, on consoles. That makes the console market worse because less things are offered on it (and more on handhelds because the DS sold so well for third parties), and those which are offered sell much less now.

See nothing wrong with it, it just what happens when Nintendo takes the grips of the market.
well to be fair not many third parties backed wii even in japan. marvelous was the exception but the games they made were just too niche (although they were great in quality)It's not so much that there's something wrong with it, rather that it is unhealthy for the overall market. If people are only buying Nintendo games and nothing else, and games from other publishers are not selling well on any platform, they will look elsewhere. That's partly why the market shifted so drastically towards portables, and now - towards mobiles.
Less variety for consumers = bad.

The N64 sold even worse than the Saturn in Japan. Might want to reconsider how much more dominant Sony was in Japan than Nintendo for that generation.
I'm pretty sure a price drop has already happened in Japan, and I don't know whether the WW bundle got confirmed there.

What kind of arbitrary distinction is that?
Console gamers went with Wii this gen.
On this note, does anyone know how DS + PSP compares to 3DS + Vita and this point in their lifetime in Japan?I don't think we can say this is true. The Wii sold 12 million in Japan, the PS3 has sold 9 million so far. The PS2 sold almost 22 million, and the GC sold 4 million. The numbers speak for themselves. There is no question that a huge amount of consoler gamers were lost this generation. It's really not so simple as "all the console gamers decided to buy Wii". That's not what happened.

Friend Collection still up there, but when the DS version hit the teens it was already at 3,248,764. Over a million in Japan is great sales, but this is a severe drop for the 3DS version.
Yeesh, I bet that looks ugly. Especially software. On this note, does anyone know how DS + PSP compares to 3DS + Vita and this point in their lifetime in Japan?

when?
So on the subject of FFXIV chat, not only is that an amazing start for XIV in Japan (IIRC it's done more in one week than Dragon Quest X, a "bigger" franchise than FF, has done in months), but that's only physical sales, and only the PS3 version. Square's been pushing the PC version surprisingly hard in Japan, going so far as to partner with a bunch of manufacturers to recommend PCs to play the game on and peripherals for the game. Between untracked PC sales and digital sales over the PSN, there's a good chance XIV's sold significantly more than even the 180k in the report, and may well have sold a not-totally-insignificant amount of PC hardware.
The TLDR is, that's an amazing start for a pay-for MMO in Japan, and the biggest in history if memory serves. It will be interesting to see if sales keep up over the next few weeks, and I wish we could get PC numbers too!
It's a combination of a bunch of factors I think:
- Severe decline in demand for core genres which used to sell well on the platforms (racing games, fighting games, sports games)
- Severe decline in output of games which used to sell well on the platforms (Japanese 3D action games, JRPGs, etc)
- The price and complexity of hardware meant that casual games and casual gamers were being completely locked out of the system
Sony basically designed and priced the system with the expectation that the market would still be like it was before, not realizing that they were effectively killing off that market by making the PS3 what it was. It was a loss for everyone.

DQX sold >400k in the first week iirc on Wii.

Because after the SNES, PlayStation consoles become the consoles of choice for third parties in Japan.
All the big sellers on N64/GCN/Wii are Nintendo games.
The success or failure of Nintendo consoles in Japan affect almost no one but Nintendo.
The success or failure of PlayStation consoles affect the whole industry. PlayStation Consoles are the home of FF, MGS, RE, PES, console racing games, console fighting games, otaku console games etc in Japan after all.

Are there any TV commercials for the Wii U in Japan? Any advertising at all?
This is something I've been wondering about for the longest time. I know there is nothing being done on the front in the US and Europe I believe as well.
