Those are some brutal Vita numbers
That's a January release.
Man Y's and Kiseki just vanished from the charts. Falcom should seriously consider switching to 3DS because they won't survive with just the Vita.
:O Really? Wikipedia has it for November 8 in Japan.
Felghana was the 2nd port of a Ys III remake, Chronicles was the Nth port of I & II. Celceta should be selling much better, even though it's a remake it's still the game's initial release and not a years later PC port.Ys Celceta has better numbers than Ys Oath of Felghana or YS Chronicles I & II on PSP. And it's also a remake of a already launched Ys.
Only the newest entry, Ys VII, has better sales.
Is there anything that could revive Vita in Japan (longer than a week or two) ?
God Eater 2 is the closest thing to MH that Vita owners will get, but since it'll also be released on PSP, I doubt it will sell that much on Vita![]()

Soul Sacrifice. But that is going to get eaten by a Tigrex anyway so meh.
3DS will pass PS3 by the end of the year, maybe even by the end of November.
No matter what Sony gets the 3DS is going to have DQ7 and MH4 next year. And there's a good chance gen 6 hits late next year as well. There is nothing Sony can counter that with. A relaunch would require there to be chinks of the armor of the competitor, and the 3DS is low priced with the games people want. Yoshida is talking abotu how they can't find support for Vita right now, so it's obvious the usual people Sony relies on aren't helping.
PS3 and PSP did have games before and after the re-launch. PSP got a big boost thanks to its first revision also because it was launched along with Crisis Core and Portable Ops Plus (both announced way before their release), and Monster Hunter phenomenon was starting to grow. PS3 had the top support from Japanese third parties since the beginning.
Where are Vita games? At this point, if there really exist big games for this platform, they should announce them as soon as possible.
Really?
I think that Monster Hunter and Dragon Quest speak for themselves.
Well, first of all I don't think that MH and DQ mean everything: do you think that Wii had the best third party support, due to the fact that it had both MH and DQ, compared to the PS3?
I don't think so.
But, most importantly: I clearly stated that up to now the only reasons that can still make some of us gaffers think about a possible relaunch of the system are previous bad situation for Sony HWs (unlike bad situations of Nintendo HWs - and no, 3DS didn't have a situation as bad as Vita's one, so I'm talking about GC and N64 here) that turned at a certain point into decent/good situations (both PSP and PS3 were able to change their fate that was terrible into respectively a very good and a decent destiny in Japan)
That means that up to now there is no firm and solid argument that can make us believe that Vita will be able to make this deep turning point, so...
Is the PSP version significantly different from the 3DS version? They released the same week, so I don't see why delays would be the problem.Vita isn't doing any different. This problem regarding Winning Eleven franchise on Nintendo consoles is because Konami delay constantly the Nintendo versions and it's fans lost interest to play on it. If they actually reasonably manage the franchise the way they do for Sony system for example, this can change.
Re: Vita numbers, remember this is a marathon and not a sprint.

Isn't PSBR for PS3/Vita out in Japan right now? I wonder how it will do.

Y's is the only version from Falcom. Neither the PCE nor the SFC versions were made by them.Ys Celceta has better numbers than Ys Oath of Felghana or YS Chronicles I & II on PSP. And it's also a remake of a already launched Ys.

EDit: It has sold better than Ys at PS2 habitat. Celceta debuted at 44k, iirc

For all intents and purpose it's a brand new game and I can't think that they're happy with the sales. Comparing it to years old ports is desinginous and shouldn't be done.
Think the damage has already been done over the last few years.
3DS and Wii versions were always delayed.
I still not sure if the the fan base is there on nintendo machines though. Think people just prefer playing on Sony Consoles.
Lets see next year how the Wii U version does.
PSP and 3DS are the same game I think, 3DS just has the 3D functionality added on.
So your brand image/game now means "they have nothing to do with it"?Ys: Celceta suffered from severe shortages, and Falcom not having anything to do with Kiseki Evolution (they didn't develop, nor publish that port of a game already playable on Vita) didn't stop you from mentioning that they should jump ships.
Re: Vita numbers, remember this is a marathon and not a sprint.
Right now it's shitting it's pants and crying while walking backwards on it's hands.
So your brand image/game now means "they have nothing to do with it"?
For all intents and purpose, Kiseki bombed and the bad port tarnishes the brand's image. They should definitely pay attention to it. Celceta should have been able to pull Y's VII numbers, it didn't and the tired "shortages" excuse hardly holds.

Animal Crossing is out of stock on amazon.jp, back in stock on the 12th.
I agree, and historically Sony's first party IP are not so strong (as Nintendo ones, for example), and first party are the only games you can count on for sure.
But historically Sony is also able to convince third parties in developing for its hws.
I know about all the existing problems in doing it right now, btw.
that's the reason why I think that we can think that the relaunch is possible just based on previous experiences.
How low will it go next week with AC coming out? Will we see sub 4k? And how many 3DS will be sold? Sales for this week might be more brutal than the numbers that were just released.
There are 2 new colors and the 32GB Bonus Pack at 15 November for Vita. It could be lower again this week but it's just the calm before the storm.
Historically Sony system never sold this bad though (except maybe PSP Go) so that PSP/PS3 can not be used as comparison. So there is really no previous experience to talk about.
For a time (when Japanese people were not ready for HD gaming, which is mainly because PS3 sucked at the time), Wii had a much better 3rd party support than PS3. Beside MH3 and an early annoucement of DQX, it's also got DQ Sword, Project Zero 4, Resident Evil Chronicle games, Tales of Symphonia 2, Tales of Graces, Tenchu 4, Samuri Warriors 3, 2 FFCC titles, Basara 3, Super Robot Wars etc. It pretty much got every major IP from big 3rd publishers (beside MGS I guess).
So I would say MH and DQ do mean something.
Don't they mean anything? Lol. It means that this "historically Sony is also able to convince third parties in developing for its hws" is not true, but it wasn't even able to keep a franchise that basically built up its existence on PSP, and was the main reason why the platform succeed in Japan.
PSP and PS3 were NEVER EVER in such a bad situation. They always had AT LEAST important announced game to be released sooner or later. ALWAYS. You cannot bring up as a point the turnaround of PS3, that could count on the main Final Fantasy, yearly Yakuza, yearly Winning Eleven, the main Resident Evil, etc.
So?
http://andriasang.com/con0zj/nippon_ichi_earnings/PS Vita launch title Disgaea 3 Return was singled out in the company's earnings statement for its strong performance.

Next week is the start of the golden Media Create time of year.
Do we reckon that the Animal Crossing/Mystery Dungeon/Paper Mario/NSMB2 Christmas bump combo will get 3DS sales anywhere near where they were last year?
