Based on ratings on JP PSN (you have to buy a game to be able to rate it), Ragnarok Odyssey has sold at least 1,000+ copies on PSN, and Gravity Daze has sold at least 700+ copies on PSN.
These are definetely huge numbers.

Not that PS3 is so amazing.
It looks we'll have sad faces after Tekken performance next week.

??
First-day numbers already?
This is actually pretty good, especially considering the fact that everyone doesn't rate their purchases. I wonder if we will ever even get ballpark numbers.
But it sells games. Isn't it important?![]()

First-day numbers already?
Just a guess after some expectations I've seen for this game.

Just wondering, why does it matter which platform it is on? Is it that people who are interested in 3DS are specific people? If so, what is this based on?If Tekken 6 opened with 30k in its first week on PSP, then I'm definitely not sure about Tekken 3D performing more than 10k. Even though it's the most accessible Tekken yet, it's still on a Nintendo platform while 3DS doesn't have as big an audience as PSP yet. Besides, Tekken doesnt gain that many new players through Arcades anymore, which is cause for concern.
If we talk about the total software sales, during the last year, the PS3 sold about twice as much software as the Wii did.The Wii sells game better than the PS3 in general though![]()

Yeah, it was 30,597 with Famitsu number in the first week, but i checked Media Create numbers now and it is 23,078. Some difference, but the opening was more than 10k at least =)Dead or Alive opened to 30k?
See, that's why I tell everyone I'm new at this predictions stuff, I'm not into it at all yet.
I understand. It is just that i have seen other people as well mention "it is on (insert platform here), so it will do bad/good", so i'm just wondering what this is based on.About the Nintendo platform, it's more that, PSP has a higher install base than 3DS. But again, I'm new at sales-age.
I guess that Garaph isnt updated then, or that those are the known Famitsu numbers, since there the difference is almost twice as much for the PS3. The Wii is at 4,594,456 and the PS3 is at 9,610,033. Are those 12.1 million and 8.8 million yearly numbers given by MC?12.1 million isn't twice of 8.8 million

Ok, thanksIt's not about being updated or not. Garaph adds software sales from weekly top 30, Famitsu has given full software sales for last year.
If Dead or Alive Dimensions can open with 30k, then i see no reason why Tekken Prime cant do equal or better.
Just wondering, why does it matter which platform it is on? Is it that people who are interested in 3DS are specific people? If so, what is this based on?

Indeed. Garaph has 30 Wii games listed for 2011, while the number of PS3 games is at 106.The PS3 also probably had far more games released last year than the Wii. Wii games sell for the most part when they are released. But that's the rub. When they are released.
Yeah, true about Tales games, but has it been somehow proven that the platform itself is the main reason for the difference in sales? Or is it more about the games themself?Well, there exist series that sell well on specific platforms regardless of the installed base, other esponents of the same genre or the importance of those entries. Tales of is one of those series.

Here's its first half year, capped at 50K to make seeing the lower numbers easier. It was only below 20K a couple times other than immediately before the price cut, but spent a lot in the 20-40 range.Guys can you tell me how 3DS was selling after launch? I know of the massive price cut in July, but what were the numbers? Sub-20K before the good games started rolling in?
Though of course a known flat statement of "X games sold during Y period." is better, the best way to do something like this using Garaph tools would be to chart a super group of an entire system's sales, and look at the change in total from time A to time B. As things stand right now it looks like about 9.6m PS3 and 7.3m Wii sales are accounted for in the 2011 tracking period, and that will bump up closer to the full total whenever the Top 1000 is added in.EDIT: Doh, i only checked games that were released in 2011. It is of course possible that older games still kept on selling as well![]()
12.1 million isn't twice of 8.8 million
But how much of that 8,8 milions are nintendo published titles ?
Nintendo evergreens don't leave that much space to 3rd party titles.
Predictions:
[3DS] New Love Plus - 125,000
[PS3] Binary Domain - 90,000
[3DS] Theatrhythm Final Fantasy - 65,000
[PSP] Samurai Warriors 3 Z Special - 18,000
[3DS] Kyokugen Dasshutsu ADV - 13,000
[PSV] Kyokugen Dasshutsu ADV - 2,000
every sign points to Tekken bombig quite hard worldwide, which I didn't expect
When was the last game out? I think in the world after SFIV, MvC and Blazblue, Tekken simply lost relevance. Everyone would already be invested in other fighting games.

Was this the topic we were talking about?
Wii sold games in 2011 despite its decline, period.
It is possible, but does that mean that people buy systems before games have been announced for them? Like with Tales, did a lot of Tales fans buy a PS3/PSP before any Tales games were announced for PS3/PSP? Or if a Tales game comes out for another platform, will they completely ignore it? I'm just wondering how much the platform itself (thinking then only about the name of the platform) matters.Clearly it has not been proven, but it is likely that series that have always been a big presence on certain consoles have built a fanbase on such consoles which probably has continued on the same vein (PS2->PS3 or PSP) since it was sure new episodes would have been out there.

Nope but it explains nicely why 3rd parties abandoned Wii.

For comparison sake, these are the best selling PSN games of 2011:Based on ratings on JP PSN (you have to buy a game to be able to rate it), Ragnarok Odyssey has sold at least 1,000+ copies on PSN, and Gravity Daze has sold at least 700+ copies on PSN.
It could be. Very hard to prove it either way, but i find it interesting regardlessPerhaps Tales fans are not only fans of Tales but of other series still well represented on Sony platforms.
My estimate for rating is that around 5% - 10% people normally rate.
Just got this number on the surveys i have sent for my studies.. :">
So if that %age holds it should be around 10k to 20k for RO.. which looks pretty high to me..
so i believe many more have rated the game.![]()
They were never there to begin with (except for a few games, of course).Nope but it explains nicely why 3rd parties abandoned Wii.
10K minimum for RO is a number that is out of reality for Japan.

Ah yes, that is a good way to do it, thanksThough of course a known flat statement of "X games sold during Y period." is better, the best way to do something like this using Garaph tools would be to chart a super group of an entire system's sales, and look at the change in total from time A to time B. I see. That sounds like a plausible reason why the PS3 Tales games sold quite well (besides that the games being good (i think?) of course). The biggest factor is probably the PS3 being a blu-ray player. Tales is one of those series which are very popular among anime fans as well in Japan. It has the same design aesthetics and narrative style. Any anime fan who actually buys anime generally buys blu-rays because it's a better deal than buying DVDs. Hence it is very likely they have a PS3 as their main AV player, and might not even own other systems. They might not be waiting for a Tales game on the PS3, but they own one, and they buy games on that, and so when Tales games eventually come out on the PS3, there is a much larger core audience for that sort of thing than on other platforms.
That's a good observation. The Wii sells game better than the PS3 in general though![]()
Thinking more about it, I think Tekken 3D could sell as much as SW3ZS. I honestly don't know why I choose the latter for the predictions. That's unfortunate, but a 10k debut as maximum is expected, at this point.
