Mega Man just isn’t coming back, is he?

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

I beat all MMX games last year. Overall its a great series that gradually became worse because they obviously ran out of ideas but ended pretty good.

X8 is easily dismissed after X6 and X7, but its in fact a very fun game. Too bad they felt the need to insert 2 vehicle stages, and every stage needed this gimmick (ride armor, low grav, pursuit, stealth even). But they did redeem the awful X7 which is one of the worst games I have ever played and makes X6 a legit masterpiece in comparison.

Regular MM series went out well too, MM11 was good. Its not my number one, but its good.

I would be completely hyped if they would announce X9 with the MMX1-3 sprites from the SNES.

I mean - theres like a trillion games in the series.
Just play those.
Mega Man can stay away for a long long time - maybe forever.

Plenty of other Capcom series to work on instead.
New Bionic Commando please...

Megaman (just like Darkstalkers) is still selling gangbusters in merchandise for Capcom. They will eventually release something to keep the brand alive

How about this?
Composer that made the Gravity Circuit Soundtrack does all the music for MMX Corrupted. Doesn't seem like a coincidence.

---------

As for people wanting their MML fix. Either this year or next the devs responsible for Unsighted are coming out with Abyss X Zero.

----------

For those going lol Megaman have so many games just play one of those....I could say the same about Street Fighter, Resident Evil or Monster Hunter and they churn those out like Rabbits out of a magic hat.

There are tons of remasters out now, play them if you haven't.

What we don't have is what i crave more than any of that. MEGA MAN LEGENDS 1 , 2 AND Tron Bonne.
The games just need to be released on current day machines like how they are doing to suikoden and tomb raider. But capcom hates legends. :(

For classics you have
Mega Man 1-11 legacy collection 1 and 2, and mega man 11 (newest title)
Mega man x legacy 1 and 2
Mega man zero/zx legacy collection
Mega man battle network legacy collection 1 and 2.

That is well over 30+ games. If you haven't played them they are on sale a lot. They are also all on the Switch.

Let me know if there is any hint of mega man legends re-release/remaster. Please.
I want it in my veins... Damn you capcom!!!!

Looks good, but I am skeptical on this as user has pronouns and bluesky links.
Not saying it can't be good, and from the pics the characters look like babes so there is that. Cautiously optimistic.

Unsighted was decent. But I understand the caution. Have to be a ruthless gardener with some indie games. If it turns out great then great if not then it's an easy skip.

There’s always an IP to cash in on, and opportunities to reintroduce the series to a new audience. I don’t expect there to be much traction though unless they drastically change up the formula and offer something unique. Battle Network did just that. Even then, I don’t think action platformers like Mega Man will return to greatness in the public eye.

To use the Onimusha series as an example, it has sold just under 9 million units and is currently receiving two more entries to the series. Megaman "as of July 2024, the series has sold 42 million units worldwide."

There is surely another MM game or five in the pipeline.

This franchise is so funny. They asked for the longest time for a modern megaman, the fanboys. They got that shitty mighty number 9 indy garbage. Then capcom DID make a new one, then they STILL were not happy because it was ‘too hard.’ Lmao.

I'm more to rockman zero, although I would like to play as X again if there is any. I welcome any rockman if there is any. Although i don't think i have time to play harder game these days.

I'm always love rockman, my first was 4, and inspire me to be a game developer since that time.

4th rockman X is the only one that I havent finished, the hardest 2nd end game boss in this X franchise for me that time.

Saying this, makes me want to replay 1st to 4th early rockman, oh dank, how the time flies...

Thanks for reminding how awesome this franchise...

It is. Gravity Circuit is fast-paced, responsive, and fun. The biggest difference is you're punching instead of shooting things, but Gravity Circuit plays even faster than Mega Man X (which I consider to be a good thing).
Definitely have my eye on this game now. Don't like so much the concept of physical attack, but it doesn't put me off either. Zero was my favorite in X4, for example. How do you feel about the soundtrack?

Megaman used to be Capcom’s Mario. They made literally dozens of MM games. Heck, they made Megaman’s Soccer, for crying out loud.

But then 3D happened, Sony didn’t want 2D stuff in America and Capcom struck gold with Resident Evil and the whole third-person action game shebang, just when Street Fighter was losing steam too. They tried bringing Megaman into 3D with… not brilliant results, and they turned 2D Megaman into some gritty war/revenge/power of friendship anime that reached the series’s lowest lows.

The old-school reboot was very nice, but Megaman can hardly be more than a very polished and well-designed AA game these days.
Capcom will remake every RE under the sun, including the Game Boy Color episode, before they give Megaman a new chance.

Many aren't and never have been.
I only really disliked how he ruined Dive for me by constantly popping up over and over again but that’s just the cruel nature of gacha games.

Yet that pales in comparison to them never adding Ashe to that game. So then we loop back again to the fans giving us what we want.

Which then results into things for other games

On par with other Mega Man soundtracks - so, good but with only a few spectacular tracks. The standout best track in the game imo is its Wily Stage 2, A True Hero Emerges, which can stand toe-to-toe with other Wily stage themes, which were often the best or near-best tracks in Mega Man games.

I really hope Mega Man comes back soon. X9 for the Switch 2 would be amazing. 11 was kinda trash after 9 and 10, I've just never been into the style of 7 and 8...plus, the music for 11 was straight lullabies... If they're gonna make a 12, they need to bring their A-game.

My thing is, i’m much as I respect how good the RE engine looks, I absolutely do NOT want a “realistic” looking Mega Man game. Go with something more cel shaded (Khezan: The First Berserker, I actually really love the art style for that main character), not something not so “dark” and generally depressing.

In fact, I find MOST modern games just look depressing as shit today.

I want games that look FUN and are more upbeat. As far as the X series and its story; I would agree, the execution was never really there. X4 and beyond clearly wanted to do more, but they sort of fumbled the ball whenever they tried to go deeper with the story. I feel like they had interesting IDEAS, though.

Honestly, if I was in charge, here is exactly what I would do:

Mega Man X9, in which somehow X returns to the Classic series. As he tries to understand what it happening in the Classic timeline, Zero continues searching for X in the future. The game culminates with Wily finishing Zero in *the past*, who goes on a rampage seeking to destroy everyone.

Zero manages to find a way to the past as well, and in order to save everyone, he absorbs the original “Zero Virus” into himself (rendering the newly-built Zero completely inert). However, the corruption overwhelms Zero’s (our version) systems, but before completely losing control, he asks X to destroy them.

We then FINALLY get the true “X vs. Zero” confrontation the entire series was always building towards. Neither of them wants to destroy the other, but there is no other option.

You destroy Zero as the game’s final boss, and you get a stinger that the newly constructed Zero (who doesn’t has any of *our* Zero’s memories, or even personality) has been training under X, and will remain behind to protect the world, while X goes back to his timeline to bring peace (maybe Dr. Light and Wily are able to create an “antidote” to the Maverick virus, so X can usher in a world of peace once and for all in his reality). He leaves this new “Zero” to forge his own identity, setting up a whole new series (hell, maybe this version of Zero takes up the name “Omega”, or just “Xero” as the most anime way possible of distinguishing himself from old school Zero, who finally sacrificed himself for X to achieve his dream of peace).

You could even sell a whole “Zero DLC” of what bosses HE was taking out before he could travel to the Classic timeline.

Good lord do I wish I could help make a new MMX game…
