Microsoft is like the antithesis of a detail-oriented company. Every time I use it I feel like I'm stumbling upon nails that stick out and rip my shirt or unsmoothed wood that gives me splinters.
My latest discovery, when I wanted to change the icon in my taskbar for Microsoft's own app StickyNotes from the ugly yellow to a more minimalistic white one, was that the asset folder of the app has plenty of icons in different colors, but there's no way to
actually change them in the app or settings. I tried to edit the assets in the folder, but W11 won't let me despite me changing all available admin privileges to my admin user in the hidden WindowsApps folder.
Icons readily avabilable in
C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.MicrosoftStickyNotes_6.1.4.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\Assets\Icons
but no way to access them in the year of 2025
Each day I realize that this OS actually doesn't want me enjoying it and each day I am pushed more and more back to MacOS.
I declare 2025 'The Year of the Windows 11 PC Fatigue'.
