Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul live on Netflix [Tonight]

My respect for Jake Paul went up big time.

Not because he was a great fighter but because he obviously could have gone all in and knocked Tyson out but chose not to. That was class.

Or maybe it was a stipulation for him not to do it and to hold back.

Jake has fought at 185 before and Canelo walks around at about 180, so maybe it's possible. I dunno, I just want to see this guy get wrecked by an actual boxer.
The broadcast said at hypothetical match would be at 200. Seems too extreme for Canelo.
I felt like Tyson was holding out. I was expecting a rush down of Barlog type punches and a barrage of jabs. This was boxing as a sport and not some death match.

58 isn’t old, but it sure isn’t 27. When people pass in their 60’s, they say they died too young. I think people who are 58 wish they were in that great of shape. Tyson really has a persona around him even though he plays by the rules.
58 is ancient for an athlete unless you are a golfer or shooter or something.

Maybe half-rigged I guess? I actually don't think that was necessarily fully rigged. It was very clear what happened.

Tyson was clearly gassed out within 3 rounds and instead of taking advantage of this, Jake decided to just take it a bit easy but not make it look too much like he was. I don't think first half of what happened was planned by anyone so Jake adapted regardless.

If this were fully rigged they both would have played around purposefully for 8 rounds throwing light jabs and hooks (which I've seen before in a celebrity match). Tyson clearly swung hard in the first 2 rounds and tired out fast.
I think Jake was still scared of getting knocked out, Tyson couldn't move but it looked like he could still hit.

I’d say these events do more harm than good if their goal is to pull in a new audience.
You're probably right, I just don't know. Honestly I don't have the same opinion as people here saying that the women's match was the best one. The final few rounds was just wild swinging which also isn't top tier boxing but it is seen as the most entertaining I guess.

The problem with boxing is that it's so technical that people who do counter-style boxing and those who are boxing for points (instead of knockouts) are seen as 'boring' every time.

I think Jake was still scared of getting knocked out, Tyson couldn't move but it looked like he could still hit.
Fair point he did keep his distance.

Well, that was fun. Tyson/Paul went about what I expected despite hopes for Tyson KOing him but the actual championship fights delivered.

The ring babes DEFINITELY delivered, wow they were almost excessively featured. Netflix knows their audience and i expect any blue hairs in their ranks just had to take it.

I will say though. Looking at the first 2 rounds.

Mike Tyson even at 58 would absolutely destroy 95% of adult males in a fight in seconds.

His upper body side to side is very good.

Lower body doesn't move though unfortunately.

Something happened early and Mike suddenly couldn't blitz. Not sure it was a nagging leg injury or something to do with that brace.

I do feel like Jake could have done more damage if he wanted. Respect.

It played almost exactly like I thought it would, except the part at the end when Paul started bowing, wtf was that?

Respect for a legend. He was holding back the whole fight. Mike couldn't deal with a single punch let alone a combo. His legs are gone and your legs are almost as important as your arms in boxing.

Also who was Paul's brother who kept spraying stuff in the air and said " I would f'ing kill you." When Tyson said he might like to try and fight him. The dude reminded me of the tweaker from The Crow.

Haven’t read thread, but I have to say the womens’ match before the main fight was more brutal. Tyson and Paul were just prancing around like little girls. What a waste of time.

And yes the ring girls had great titties. But damn I never expected the womens’ match to be better than the title card.

Waking up to the news that Jake Paul won definitely sucks.

Haven’t seen the fight yet, is it even worth watching?

I felt a profound sadness watching an old warrior selling himself out.
Just look at him dragging himself back to his corner after a round.

There is no winner here, everybody lost.
