Not surprised lol. It just didn't seem all that interesting with open worldish and the always online bs.

Who did the writing for this sequel? Pratchett once again?
Welp, you guys are gonna kill Mirror's Edge again. So thanks, I guess??
j/k, kindof
Mirror's Edge wasn't a good game and it didn't need a sequel.
"if you loved Mirror's Edge 1 you'll like this" seems to be a common, but to me really questionable, remark. Most of what changed reads as a complete turn-off for me.
Doubtful
You could beat the entire first game without engaging in combat even once
Is that true of catalyst?
The biggest disappointment for me coming out of these reviews is the complaint about tedious late-game forced combat encounters against tanky foes. I can't imagine why anyone would think that kind of thing is a good design.
This is a terrible post and it doesn't deserve a follow up.
Did you like the first one?after my time with it i'm leaning 4/10 but i play it some more.
The things we remember nostalgically of the first Mirror's Edge are the art direction and a single song from the soundtrack.
The story wasn't good, the graphics weren't great, the combat was bad and the controls were clunky. Overall, it hasn't aged well.

Game that was not universally praised gets a sequel that stays faithful to the original. The sequel turns out to not be universally praised. Gasp.
Amen. I tried to play it in 2015 to see what the fuss was about and I got it for practically nothing from the EA Humble Bundle a while back. Played it for about an hour and thought it was terrible but okay looking. This sequel looks like more of the same, nothing redeeming about it IMO.
If a game is good enough I should be able to play it x years after release and still enjoy it. I still enjoy the older Gran Turismo games and those are close to 20 years old for example.

Yes, I've read several and I played the beta a ton as well as ran through as much content as I could during the EA Access Trial.. But go on, make assumptions all you want.Have you even read any of the reviews? Also the first game was received much better than this game, so I'm not sure what you're talking about.

This is factually untrue.

Yup, it will be another case of revisionist history where "everyone loved catalyst, even though it didn't sell or review well"A few years from now, "This game is amazing"

Sure, so read the text of the review. And like I said earlier, a lot of reviews seem to indicate that the game is on par with the first game just with new problems, or potentially even worse.Sure, but reviews consist of way more than just the scores.
Yup, it's a really common comment, and a really strange one to approach."if you loved Mirror's Edge 1 you'll like this" seems to be a common, but to me really questionable, remark. Most of what changed reads as a complete turn-off for me.
6 linear hours of gameplay is a problem in my opinion.
Not sure why people are freaking out. These aren't bad scores.

Yeah, that was... bad.DICE posted a combat video that got so much flak they took it down.
It was a few days ago.
Mirrors Edge 2008 79 on ps3.Much better? Both games are in the 70s in Metacritic score.

That's not what many wanted to see in a sequel. People wanted marked improvement on what was a flawed gem.
Yup, it's a really common comment, and a really strange one to approach.
I liked the first one, but wanted to see a lot of things fixed up. So is this game for me? Or is this game only for people who were fanatically in love with the first?
Mirrors Edge 2008 79 on ps3.
Mirrors Edge Catalyst 71 on ps4.

So...you...proved his point? Ok.Mirrors Edge 2008 79 on ps3.
Mirrors Edge Catalyst 71 on ps4.
No, there were others. There were many mandatory combat scenes, some more scripted than others. In my experience the final combat encounter is the only one in the original game that's mandatory.
