Awesome. I wondered when they would release new numbers. Great to hear people are enjoying the new game. Can’t wait for them to enjoy new content.

So I know this is me sounding all negative, but in a way this kinda sucks that it sold so well so fast. This is coming from someone whose played it a lot, and in fact it's the most I've played a monster hunter game to date.

That being said, I also realize that this is not the best Monster Hunter has been or could be. The new features of the game, and the poor balance of it is really a problem. I also fucking hate riding the Sekeret ....the damn thing feels like a pain to control, even when you're not trying to do a waypoint. The auto running to waypoints make exploring feel non-existent in the game, and that's really a bummer. Combat can be fun, but it's also way too easy. Publishers will never take the problems of the game into account whether a game sells good or bad unfortunately. If this game sold poorly, they'd say it's because interest in Monster Hunter is on the decline. If it sells well like this, then the lesson they're gonna take is....oh, people must want these shitty new features where the game plays itself at times...and not consider that maybe it sold good based on how much people have grown to love the series over the years the way it was.

It’s apparently slowed down quite a bit on steam. At launch it was untouchable. Now it mostly stays below other games on charts.

Word of mouth is not that great apparently. I certainly held off from playing it. Hopefully they can improve performance, image quality with patches.

I used to remember that MH, was such as niche title back in the PSP games. Funilly, enough I bought it back then because it was cheap and you were fighting dragons. I expected an action RPG in the manner of Devil May Cry. When I played it, I was shocked how I can’t even deal with a Velocidrome that so frustrated me, along with its “clunky” control scheme… in a CAPCOM game and I quit it for over years! That was when I attempted to play the game again actually get the feel before it clicked. Then I got addicted and played with a surprising amount of friends who got into it as well. Never realised it will end up being a mega hit worldwide to this day.

Overrated game, yeah the combat is good but the story and the structure of the game is awful. I could not stomach the constant dialogues, following npcs like an idiot and all these stupid cutscenes. The pacing made me want to jump from a bridge, seriously. The only monster hunter that I really liked was MH World, I played almost 100 hours and enjoyed everything about it. Rise and Wilds on the other hand were boring for me and I didnt want to continue playing after a few hours

But hey I am glad that Capcom is gaining a lot of sales, that means more money to make other games that I like, like Resident Evil

IMO this game did well because people liked World, not because of “new elements.”

MH is long standing franchise, and even old MH3P back before hit 5M fast as well. MHR also hit 16 in total. It is not because MH world only. It's long standing strong franchise

Ouch. Any digital numbers yet?

Imagine if the game had more content and better optimization on release? It probably could have pushed more 2 million or so in the first month.

The good thing about MH games is that they keep bringing people constantly with the Title Updates, and then a huge wave of new players only join after the first expansion drops.

Of course it will underperform on condoles, Xbox is practically dead.

Also why are they afraid to provide any splits?
He didn't share the splits. However, I did see this estimate from fiendcode over on the purple forum, which seems a tad more realistic than the one shared by the other guy in this thread.

fiendcode said:
I'd estimate platform breakdowns to be ballpark ~5.75m Steam, ~3.5m PS5 and ~750k Xbox, with maybe up to a 250k swing in either direction.

Again numbers pulled from their asses. Anyone can provide estimates and treat them as fact. Look at our own P pulicat

I will shower you with my "estimates"

Xbox: 7m
PS: 2.5m
Steam: 0.5m

This estimate will be my reality until we have official numbers from Capcom.

IMO this game did well because people liked World, not because of “new elements.”

It's also an excellent game, but yes, at this point most games in large franchises now perform with a lag that directly correlates to how well received the previous entry was. Negative sentiment also carries forward to games undeserving of a bad rap.
