Unless we get new weapon but chances are very low. Frontier was the last game that got new weapons none them were ever made it to mainline MH games.
Nah, the newest weapons were Insect Glaive and Charge Blade lol. they were introduced in MH4. Switch Axe was in MH3.

I feel like it might be the right time to add a new ranged weapon. It's been pretty stale with just those 3 for a while.

They tried adding Medium Bowgun in MH3, but not popular. What other kind of ranged weapon besides bow and gun? lol

Looks like the counter from Rise made its way in, albeit slightly different (looks like a bigger window honestly). We LONGSWORD now baybee.

Also love that the wound attack has a quick phial discharge.

Ain't nothing gonna keep me from my true love.
I'm not sure if i like the fact that every weapon seems to have a guard point\counter move now, it kinda steal from some weapons reason d'etre...

That was one of my issues with Sunbreak. They tried to make every weapon do everything to the point they felt a lot less unique. I think it's going to be much better here, but a concern nonetheless.

When you throw it, what do you do? Just wait until the boomerang return?
Strike cool poses to deal psyche damage to the monsters, duh.

On one hand, I agree. On the other hand, I like Switch Axe and counters. Really though, I'd trade it for more options/maybe some i-frames while you're mounted doing a full discharge. I always wish they'd do more with the transformation mechanic of the weapon. Charge Blade gets an embarrassment of riches as far as things to charge and phials to fill, and options on how to progress a fight. SA sadly has largely been about sticking in Sword mode as much as possible and doing the optimal combo. I think Rise did a good job of making both modes worthwhile and making both modes feed off of each other, but I'd like to see more points in a combo that can be cancelled into a transform attack.

I love axe mode way more than sword mode, who cares if i'm not gonna beat any world record :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

World and eespecially rise did a good job turning axe mode into a viable mode imo, but sure there is always something more you can do with the weapon.

Both world and rise have blood, there is literally a video and a zoomed in gif in this very topic.

It's probably disabled for the demo only.

World has blood? Huh, I’ll have to check when I get home.

Edit

I see the image above.

LMFAO

does that count? That’s a stretch.
So ya, world doesn’t have blood. That’s a joke.

Edit 2
Will check rise again too when I get home.

If the effect is so slight that you have to pause and take a screen shot to see it, it effectively doesn’t exist. You guys are grasping at straws. Sorry.

Buddy what are you on about? Both Rise and World have the blood effect, whether you like the effect or not. You don't have "to pause to see it", you see it every hunt you do.

Doesn't matter if you want a pool of blood to be convinced, the blood effect is there, this is just fact.

In 3,000 hours it was barely noticeable
What are YOU on about? Lmfao 🤣 😂🤣😂🤣
If that’s blood, I’m Jesus Christ

Dude just move on, i even said multiple times that their blood effects are super mild in world and a bit larger but more cartoony in rise, nobody said that the amount of blood can compete with freaking tlou2 :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

I went through my playlist on YouTube because I used to speedrun world and watched a bunch of different videos, there’s no blood and that little hit effect from bow is barely visible *unless* you take screen shot. In actual gameplay it will be nigh invisible. I think you all are on drugs lol

This is my channel, feel free to show me where the blood is in any of these videos.

I didn’t run Rise at all so I can’t check right now, but I will when I get home.

Saying there is blood in World is a STRETCH

As I said, GU was the last to have actual blood marks/slashes when you hit the enemy. Don’t see anything here contradicting that except words from people.

And ya I don’t care that much, but it’s extremely annoying when someone tries to correct you and they don’t know what the fuck they are talking about.

I think both old Monster Hunter and Rise have much more stylize visuals so Capcom don’t mind adding blood but with World and now Wild that has more realistic visuals they are hesitant to add more visible blood because they might lose their “T” ratting.

Brings a tear to my eye that there are so many Switch Axe fans on this forum...

I'm going Switch Axe > Charge Blade > Insect Glaive. SnS is a per-game gamble if I'm gonna like it or not. MHGU was the best that weapon will EVER be, I fear.

You really enjoy poking at things with your large stick, eh?
I don't know if i'm gonna main the hammer or lance for the first run.

I'm the type of guy that only enjoy a weapon when i do a fresh campaign start and only use that specific weapon for all the hunts, i'm never gonna use the double weapon option in wilds.

Btw i'm more of a charge guy than a poke guy

I also poke but charge drilling into monsters is so much fun :lollipop_squinting:

I'll once again start with the bow it seems.
Homing arrows kinda feel like dumbing it down for people with bad aiming though.

Maybe the tracers are limited, like you have to carry an explosive nut to turn it into a tracer.

They are making some OP changes to many weapons so i hope they also amp the challenge compared to world and rise, i don't wanna another dogma 2 on my hands...i hope they are not so stupid to make the game too easy to open up to fucking everyone, it's ok if the game remain even a slightly bit elitist.

Bow is DEFINITELY gonna be my 2nd weapon, it looks super fun in Wilds.

Ok that one was great, not sure if the dodge they showed is an adept-style dodge or the melee/counter attack from Sunbreak but either is fine.

Seems to have very little difference but hard to tell without seeing the stamina bar and charge levels.

Now please don’t mess up the Lance and all will be fine.

What the fuck is adept dodge?
as NanaMiku NanaMiku already asnwered, it was a MH GU play style. I remember playing adept sword and shield and monsters had a hard time touching me at all.

Bow inheriting that is CRAZY for bow, and I'll probably main it together with hunting horn or switch axe. There is speulation that play styles might be making a return in Wilds.
