New Xbox Series X consoles have slight internal redesign

Therefore, if you would call it silly to ask what is the point of a Series revision based on sales, I assume you would also say the same about Wii U, since the sales rates are very similar right now.

In a lot of ways it is a silly question, regardless of what console/product you are talking about.

Xbox has some idea of how many more of these systems they will produce (they have been relatively accurate at sales prediction even when they anticipate negative results). If the math works for them (the cost of redesigning/retooling production is less than the cost reduction times the number of units to be manufactured), of course they will do that because corporations like to make money and a good way to do that is to spend as little as possible providing the services/products offered. If the numbers would have made sense on the Wii U Nintendo absolutely would have done that.

I think it's time for a EXTERNAL redesign, both Series S and X.
I know they're not selling well, and this probably won't help much, but some slimmer/smaller NEW models would be interesting. I'd buy some.

Would be nice to have a really small cube model for the Series S. Something minimalist to the extreme.

And for the Series X I would go back to the One X design or similar. That was peak design by MS. (Even though it was kinda inspired by the PS2)

No. When did I say it was silly to question a hardware revision for the Xbox Series X? Go on. Find it. I questioned the fact that some of you were clearly enjoying the fact that the Xbox Series S&X are selling poorly, in a thread that was originally centered about the news of an internal redesign. Two very different things, which everyone in their right mind should be able to see.

You're just posting strawman after strawman. We both know that. Stop digging your hole any deeper.

1. Someone questions the necessity of a hardware revision due to sales rate
2. You question why an adult would talk about sales rate in this thread
3. I used Wii U to help you understand why but your desperation not to is impressive.

Never said we need to decide definitively on MS's part whether it makes sense and if it doesn't, send them an injunction or anything like that. This is a discussion forum and I don't think someone commenting about the need for it due to low sales is some sort of childish offense that should derail a thread and lead to "imagine grown adults saying that" type takes. I'm not arguing MS should not make the revision I'm arguing it's not an off-base comment and in order to drive that point home, I'm adding that Wii U was selling at the same rate so I assume anyone with a problem would have said the same there too.

Obviously no one really said that about Wii U and never would have. That's what makes it poignant, and the entire point.

I questioned why adults would praise the PS5 sales and laugh at the XSX sales in a thread about the hardware changes in the XSX.

I'm sorry you cannot comprehend this. Is there any way I can explain it in a different to help you?

Maybe that's what you thought you were questioning without bothering to read the thread?

Have you even read it yet?

You replied to a post about "negativity from Sony fans". That "negativity" took the form of questioning the purpose of the revision given poor sales. I can't find this "celebration of strong PS5 sales" you speak of. Best part is, I don't even own a current gen PS but have a Series S lol.

Almost pulled the trigger on the white XSX, but stopped myself.
I'm still mad I messed up my white wrap, but not €520 mad.

So sad this thread turned into the usual shit show from fanboys who love to give it, but can't take it back.

For me, the biggest disappointment from the new Series X is it seems Xbox has gone back on the proposed Wi-FI 6E support and a pad with haptic feedback & speakers from the Broklen leak

I get mine on Monday so will have to see how the Wi-Fi speeds are

That was, literally, my only gripe with the OG Series X. WiFi.
But at this point, so late in the cycle, why not just save all that for next-gen. Like most people who will ever own a Series S/X won’t have any of those features so what would you gain from splintering the base like that. The Series line sales cycle is winding down, so most of the people who will ever own an Xbox from this cycle already have one.

I’d hold off til next-gen and then the home console and the handheld can both have those features.

I agree that it should wait for the next hardware release. But I don't think it should be limited to the new hardware.

Just like a Series controller works just fine on an XBOX One. I could see new controllers with those features working on the Series. I'd also see those features working when using the new controllers on a PC with compatible games.

We still have games scheduled to come out on the PS4 and XBONE into the first quarter of next year. This isn't just the yearly sport and music games like previous generations. We're approaching 12 years of main line support on hardware that was under powered at release compared to PCs. XBOX Series, and PS5 are going to have very long support periods. I hope Sony has the PS6 controller work on the PS5, controllers get hard to find at the end of a console's life. Doing this would greatly extend availability.

I think with Xbox inparticular this cycle, they are eager to end it a bit earlier than PS will, and probably aiming to put it behind them and come out swinging with next-gen for holiday 2026. And the more they save up to pop off all at once, the bigger splash they can make with one last attempt at native Xbox brand hardware in a new console cycle.

Got mine. Really nice looking console and the extra storage is welcome. Sad that we didn't get a Wi-Fi boost of the planned new features with the pad.
