Watching Sportsnet, can't believe Damien Cox looks more professional than the PA mouth piece thats Kyprios, spewing the same garbage from players like "We don't know the real deadline", its equivalent to "Where is Obama's birth certificate".

Cox is a jerk sometimes but he usually tells it like it is, him and Bob McCown tend to be straight shooters unlike everyone else (almost)

They were on top of Atlanta to Winnipeg before anyone else, and TSN guys laughed at them

And lol @ Wade Redden showing up on the waiver wire in my latest be a GM sim in NHL 13

Letang just signed with a KHL team. Season's over.

I heard the entire lockout is over Crosby. The owners are pissed that Pittsburgh has sole possession over him. The whole league is jealous of Pittsburgh and the amazing team they got. Crosby is my sweet babe.

Yeah but the offers have been getting better.

With this attitude to labour disputes it isn´t strange that unions are having such a hard time in america:

"Liberal" GAF tells me how hard it is to change anything with your almost two party system. If this forum is supposed to be relatively liberal then I think that the publics political views holds US more to the right wing than anything else.(Didn´t mean to single you out, youre probably even Canadian but I see this sentiments all the time).

Yes. Some of his opinions grate me, but that's unavoidable. He doesn't try too hard to get in meaningless information and seems to know when to speak up and when to remain in the background.

Loved it when he tore Patrik Stefan a new asshole after the Hemsky goal.

Beautiful. Then again Patrik Stefan needs a new asshole torn into him simply because of his shitty career.

Ferraro is just a fantastic colour commentator, for exactly all the reasons you've specified. He's got timing, doesn't Pierre McGuire the place up with useless info and has a great personality.

If RNH carried any more weight on his back, it would've broken.

Anyway, it's over, back to hating him for being a part of a shitty Justin Schultz housing organisation.

I would not qualify him as having "carried this team". He got points. He didn't do much else I would say justifies that statement. My ball sack has led a team of sperm with more passion than him.

its an interesting point, being raised in a capitalist culture is going to ingrain some respect/desire for great wealth that could instill some 'right wing' views.... but im sure you can see the slip when it comes to dealing with a group of millionaires playing a game to factory workers making 10$/hr to survive.

And then you have Dopey saying things like "It's not a job" to play hockey and that owners "deserve" to make profits, pretty much just for buying a business.

The point of a union is to leverage the collective value of the workforce. How much the individuals make is irrelevant. I've been saying for YEARS now that videogame devs should be unionizing to end some of the shitty practices found in the industry, but there's the view that they shouldn't because they're "professionals." It's a symptom of mentality that unions are something that they really aren't. People just think they're trying to "steal" from their employers, but in reality it's just an effort to equalize bargaining power by preventing an employer from fracturing a workforce.

Damn right they need unions. I've worked in both video game production and animation and both industries get majorly fucking jipped for working standards and fair work conditions simply because they're "fun/creative" industries.

Unfortunately it's also the reason why video game industries in Australia get shafted... Nobody wants to pay the high wages and rewards (4 weeks leave etc) that comes with full time work in Australia.

Actually pro sports are in a bit reversed in this sense. Right now you see more "right wing" people as being pro union in this matter because things like a salary cap, revenue sharing are not a "free market" and the league is more socialist for imposing these regulations and trying to spread the wealth of bigger markets.

There is however, a two way street when it comes to unions. Unions are not only to give bargaining power to workers but to help in the long term job stability if its members. A good union has to keep the company health in its negotiations to enure jobs for its members. That's why with the American auto industry the UAW's concessions were integral to company health and recovery. You cannot be an effective union when your members are laid off.

Salary cap is perfectly fine within a free market as long as it is bargained for in a competitive marketplace. The problem with the NHL isn't the cap it's that there's no competitors.

So what would you do ? Split the NHL up like AT&T ?
With no cap you might as regress into an 8 team league as only those teams could even remotely compete financially. The rest would fold.
And lots of players would lose jobs.
Salary cap has been good for most of the players.

Gibson the next pogge confirmed

This Gibson hype reminds me of Jack Campbell hype all over again.

Today: Hiller is in his prime. I lay blood and money down on the fact that given his charity game performances, as well as historic evidence, he would've been up for a Vezina nomination this season.

Tomorrow: Viktor Fasht provides soluable backup solutions with the achievements (SEL MVP 2011) to back them up.

Next week: John Gibson riding the pine for a post-prime Hiller after an AHL stint.

The week after that: John Gibson, Anaheim Ducks starting goaltender 2015/16/17.

You want to throw mud at goaltenders that were highly touted but have so far failed to perform up to their immediately high expectations? Subban is over there.

John Gibson is a SECOND ROUND PICK from 2011. He's a steal at best, and a mediocre AHL goaltender at worst.
