Developer of adult game 'No Mercy' is removing the game from Steam after doxing attempts and reports from angry users, mostly feminist centered, who did not agree with the themes of the game, which involve sexual abuse of family members. The game went viral on TikTok which led to websites such as Eurogamer and VGC to create articles on the game, prompting feminist groups to take no notice and contact Valve. The game was also removed from Patreon due to user reports. The game went from 1000 visits a day to 100,000 visits.

We don't intend to fight the whole world, and specifically, we don't want to cause any problems for Steam and Valve. They do a great job and are incredibly helpful."

This isn't a game and we should call it what it is which is edgy teen humor that shouldn't be on the steam marketplace. Steam has too many of these rape simulators, incest simulators, and child porn games 'they get around it by acting like girl in the game is 1000 years old or some bs' and they all need to go.

I can understand steam bending the knee, but what I don't like is Patreon doing it. I remember when they did that shit to some gamers over politics a few years back, bunch of authoritarian shit heads working there.

AS for this game, never heard of it, and I care not. I get sex from my wife. Don't need a porn game for that.

Tbf, it was a really bad idea to release this kind of hardcore porn game on a mainstream platform like steam
It creates an interesting void to where there should be a legitimate steam-like service for these types of games so that moments like this don't happen. This game should have never made it onto steam in the first place, so this small controversy is only happening as a direct result of this game slipping through the cracks thanks to steam's half-bad vetting service.

It's cause and effect leading to more cause and effect.

Same reason I don't need it. I get sex from your wife. 😜

There sort of is. There are alternatives to patreon that aren't as fussy over content, or dedicated porn game stores like nutaku.

I wonder any if the Patreon competitors care about shit like this. SubscribeStar or Boosty or whatever.

Freedom is scary.

If you want to ban things that hurt people start with cars and swimming pools.

If you want to know where a "line" is follow the law not something you arbitrarily made up after you found out about a game you hate.

Attention seekers gonna seek. Harassment is unacceptable. Videogames do not affect our behavior. Violent videogames do not make us violent. Violent videogames like Manhunt should not be banned. Videogames should not be held to a higher standard than any other form of entertainment. Stay based.

I guarantee you Valve told the studio to release that statement. If anything, this type of firestorm would generate millions for the studio making the game. This is terrible press for Valve, but at the time they would have gotten equally bad press if they took the game off steam because of censorship reasons

This is really what it comes down to.

We could debate til the sun dies out about whether or not this type of game should be made, or why it has less of a right to exist than a game like Call of Duty, but distributing it on Steam was always a questionable idea.

The shitty thing is - with how public this was - people are going to start sifting through Steam for other games like this (and there are other games like this on Steam).

I guarantee you Valve told the studio to release that statement.
This is likely what happened. If Valve did it themselves, they'd be hit with a bunch of "what about this one?" messages.

Because other people may not want to be associated with Patreon if they're hosting content like this. Onlyfans tries to have SFW stuff like cooking shows, etc. But a lot of people would rather not be associated with a platform that hosts typical OF content. It's just business.

Is this service actually legitimate or is it one of the many that are riddled with ads, that when accidentally clicked on, can be a massive issue for the device you're on?

You both understand that Steam is kinda riddled with games like this, yes? Like... this isn't really new. The devs are pussies for removing it.

Yes, and I am saying that it shouldn't be. Same with low value asset flips. Both congest and devalue the store itself, especially when something more extreme slips through.

Those floodgates should have never been opened in the first place.

Steam is full of hardcore porn games.
Not really any less of a bad idea. Steam is a great platform to make your game gain traction and garner attention, but this is very obviously a kind of game that would create controversy if it ever got too much attention. Porn content still require some more careful and subdued forms of advertising, especially extreme stuff like this.

I'm usually a fan of letting the market decide these kinds of things. But it's not a huge loss.

But the chance to gift this people is gone now. Oh well. Imagine this showing up in every reee users library.

Steam should make a completely separate store front for porn games IMO. Tired of the new and trending tab being full of $5 low effort porn games.

Thanks for the notice.

Fortunately still available here. Game purchased before removal. I love forbidden games.

Time to be quick fellows !

Didn't fap for a week now. Counter resets soon.

Edit : Not downloading for now, i'll wait to see if devs statement is bullshit just to make more sales or not.
Streisand won't have me !

There are a bunch of incestuous games on Steam? I highly doubt the developers chose to remove the game. Valve probably realized it was a PR nightmare and gave the studio a bunch of money to write that statement

Apprehensible game in terms of concept, but its still a game and not reality. However this is the kind of game made to enable things. To live out a creepy fantasy. Neckbeard: the game. Instead of making games for such honkytonk guys, socialize outside instead. Far better than this incellious crap.

However:
  • Valve really needs to get better quality control and filtering. Too often i see eroge/porn-lite games in my boomer shooters. And whilst i like to kick some ass, i don't want to touch some waifu booty
  • Honestly though the whole doxxing/harassing/online abuse thing is such a tired reaction. Its lame, it doesn't cure the issue, it only solves the symptom and angry users should have had better things to be actually pissed about.
I consider this kind of outrage a form of luxury goods because your Western life could be so much worse (like, i dunno, Ukraine battlefields) yet you decide to make yourself feel miserable over things like these.

I mean... there are tons of japanese VNs with this type of content and some of them are on Steam (a lot of them don't get a translation, though). Heck there is a game called "sex adventures - incest family" on Steam right now. There is an Asanagi game on Steam for crying out loud, with all her "ryona" bullshit fetishes.

Now you can make the argument that this shit has been flying under the radar, hence no one really complained... but it has been on there for years in some cases.

Steam achieved a good store front but these type of headlines are brutal, I don't agree with putting anything up on the store for "rights" and "freedom" things.

People don't understands " rights ". Every right has a counter competing right. We just pick the one we think outweighs the other. It's not just " whatever you want to do " bs.

Like you have freedom of speech in America but there is also the right to not have to hear loud and obnoxious yelling in public places. Aka disturbing the peace.

If it's true that there were doxxing attempts on the developers, they're literally trying to do more harm than the game itself ever could.

Sucks to see Karen-ass behavior get rewarded, even if the target is creepy cringe.
