Wonder if Until Dawn charts in September. That game had absolutely no buzz until it was actually released (and got covered by folks like pewdiepie) so I could see it having some mini legs.

It didn't have AAA buzz but to say it had no buzz is taking a lot away from the game.

Why are those people so tall, and so naked?

Is this the kind of porn Nintendo owners are looking at like that article was saying?

Can you imagine the impact a PS4 bundle advert would have at every showing of the movie.

Star Wars fans probably don't even need marketing. Even if they're not gaming enthusiasts, they're very likely Star Wars enthusiasts (I base this purely on personal experience) and will be very aware of what's coming up.
However, that would definitely get the younger generations on board. An adolescent seeing his first Star Wars movie and loving it would probably remember that ad.

Don't they sell for like 30 bucks? They are a tiny piece of plastic and almost nothing else. I bet they are pretty damn profitable.

They are filled with magic , costly magic from Miyamoto's tears.

My bet is that software is very profitable , they sell games with low budged in mind.

it was top game on youtube for streaming. I think it will sell well and steadily over the next few months. No reason for it slow down in September or October with the Holiday's.

Relative to the same period last generation, I believe the following is true:

The best selling system YTD for this generation is selling less well than the third place system YTD last generation

The second best selling system YTD this generation is selling ~70% as well as the last placee system YTD last generation

The third best selling system YTD this generation doesn't even really make the map last generation (< 50% the sales of the third place system last generation).

Am I looking at that correctly?

Until Dawn charts! Impressive. Also surprised to see Madden pulld better numbers on ps4 considering the deal, or maybe the games packed in didn't count?

No way dude, FIFA is not that big in the US, the battle is Metal Gear VS Destiny.

I can't see Destiny topping MGSV in NPD, purely due to the fact that TTK has been made available in such a fractured way. If the existing Destiny fanbase buys it (which they will), they're surely be going digital. The physical release is targeted at new Destiny players.

That awkward moment when the PS3 was selling better in 2008 (YTD) than the PS4 has been in 2015 (YTD)

(To be fair they're pretty much the same. Just like XB1/360 for 2015/2007)

do you have a chart or table to show the monthly comparison for each system in the respective year. i believe June 2008 was the MGS4 launch month which gave PS3 a massive boast 405k if i m not wrong..

will like to see which other months PS3 did higher numbers compared to PS4.

Thinking about that wander why Sony didnt do PS4 MGS bundle? even limited edition 50k bundle would have given a nice boast..

Kind of. I'll have to look to confirm but basically the best selling system (PS4) this ytd is selling better than Xbox 360 last gen YTD but not PS3. Holidays will be better for PS4.

Basically the Nintendo Wii in 2008 (Jan-Aug) sold more than the PS4/XB1 and Wii U combined have sold 2015 YTD.

September = MGSV, don't think a destiny expansion can beat it. PS4 wins handedly

October = Halo 5. Despite the lack of hype I have a hard time believing Halo won't be #1. Would be very odd. X1 could win October

November = Battlefront. I think Star Wars hype is going to go nuts in the latter half of November and then you will have a Black Friday PS4 bundle and Ms will match that bundle somehow. Between it and call of duty, I'll say Battlefront. PS4 wins but both pretty even

But really the real winner in November will be No Mans Sky. BELIEVE.

December = Persona 5 will land and destroy the fabric of our world. PS4 wins again, narrowly

Just thought about something..

Xbox One lost, even with that free tv deal going around....

That must really suck (atleast they sold well in general)

Easy win for MGS V. Destiny is just a new expansion.
They got that legendary edition at retail though, which comes with all content. People who didn't buy the first two DLC will get that since it's the best way to get everything, and new players will get that too. Might push a lot of units.

Obviously sales are very launch day, launch week front loaded. But if Gears is able to be #3 with just 5-6 days of sales, where will it chart next month? Top 5 again? Really impressive for what is essentially just a remaster.

Perhaps, but if it helps to move consoles then it's what they had to do. I remember picking up a PS3 and 360 with similar deals back then.

kind of early to start predicting 2016 ;)

Two XBO titles up there and system sales are up looks like system is gaining steam
(Up 26% over August 2014) The steam of a free 40" TV for every XBO sold

And god dayum at Until Dawn. It makes me so happy. GOTY for me right now. With all these good retail sales in EU, the good digital sales and now this, it has to get past the 1 million mark soon.
Well deserved. Sequel please!

Will, but not enough to beat a potential 1m-1.5m million sales of MGS V.
