The 360 did not have a price cut and a new model. It also had to face off against 2 launch systems. You an spin all you want it was horrible month for the PS3. At least MS and nintendo can blame hardware shortages. All sony can blame is demand shortages.

PS3 sales are quite strong. The numbers for the entire month of all hardware (sans the DS) look a bit low, however.

360, in its third Christmas season and with Halo 3 and other exclusives, only managed to outsell the PS3 by 460k with the lowest price point of entry being significantly lower than the PS3, and the PS3's most adopted model being the $499 version. Looking at it in terms of revenue, the PS3 outsold the Wii.

Pretty impressive numbers for the PS3, that's definitely sure. Now, given the sales gap in the US, it's pretty much guaranteed that worldwide the PS3 is outselling the 360. 2008 is where, in North America, PS3 starts outselling the 360 (especially as we get closer to the fall), barring any significant pricedrops by Microsoft.

Although the economy is sucking shit through a straw, the video games industry kicked ass and took names in 2007, with the poor, out- of- work and underemployed still reaching deep into their pockets and selling their food coupons to get their latest gaming fix, much like a common junkie in the back alleys of Baltimore.

Pretty good hold for ME - nearly over 1m in the US. Ouch @ Timeshift and Orange Box. I can't imagine UTIII did a whole lot better.

I'm thinking that the PS3's hope of ever becoming tops in hardware is over. 2008 is definately its year, but I foresee MGS4 and GTA4 having respectable software sales only to have little impact on hardware sales. See: GCN

It is not Modern v. WW2 that really made the difference . . . it is Infinity Ward v. (whoever did CoD3 . . Treyarch?) that mattered.

I personally am very surprised at the lowish Wii sales. I figured Nintendo would ramp production up to astronomical levels, at least for a short time. They must have realized that whatever they put on store shelves would sell. Shame PS3 couldn't break 800k as well. As little as the amount is, if ps3 sold just 2,300 more, it would have looked a lot better(you know, mentally in people's mind). 360 sales seem a bit low when you consider this was arguably 360's best year. I personally predicted 1,500,000 for it. PSP, DS, no real surprises there. PS2 numbers are surprising. Seems like a lot of people decided to pick it up as a cheaper Christmas gift. It sales a few months ago sure didn't indicate that it would sell 1,100,000.

How many times must it be said that "ramping up production" is not a switch. They HAVE ramped up to 1.8 million per month. And from the number they sold in the US in December, it's clear they weren't stockpiling either. They sold everything they had.

People who buy a 129 dollar machine are not take away sales of machines 399 dollars. The PS2 is not hurting the PS3 at all. Nice try on the spin though.

I was just reading the first page of this thread, but how could anyone be dissapointed with Xbox 360 or Wii hardware sales? 1.26 million for Xbox 360 and 1.35 million for Wii is really damn good. Holy shit at the Nintendo DS though. Did the Game Boy Advance ever have a month this good?

In other words, EA must be pleased at Mass Effect's potential as a trilogy. Even if MS is publishing the series, EA owns Bioware so they profit regardless.

This assumes they don't butcher the studio and/or Bioware's talent flees.

We are going to see PS2 getting a boost around holiday season for a couple more years. Outside holiday season it will start to lag more and more. Nothing to be concerned about.

Diamond outsold Pearl, and Diamond is only half of Halo 3 numbers for the year, so EGMShane was wrong in predicting that Pokemon's 2007 would beat Halo 3's 2007 in NA.

I was going by historical trends from Nov to Dec. for the 360. It under sold. No biggie. I got the Wii shipment nearly spot on.
But What was your Wii prediction again,......wait for it....because Nintendo was unleashing the floodgates of Wiis they were holding back for Christmas. ahahahahah :lol That shit was too much then and it's too much now.
