Many thanks to the NPD group and some commentary from their Anita Frazier, NPD analyst.

Absolutely insane results. YTD industry sales up 73%, 45% for SW. And Wii GH3 edges out the PS2 version, and Half-Life 2 has a very, very good first month, given the competition.

And, what was that Sony???? You sold 75k in the last week of this reported month? And you sold 46k for the 3 weeks before that??

Regarding current state of the industry:
"This year sales have already achieved the annual sales number for 2005 - and the two biggest months are yet to come. I think we'll see not only record-breaking revenues but record-breaking year-over-year growth when the final numbers are tallied."

Regarding PS3 sales after price reduction:
"Remember that the PS3 price cut came in November so we'll have to wait until our data comes out next month to see the effect of that cut on retail sell-through of the hardware.

Regarding Guitar Hero III sales:
"Guitar Hero has certainly established itself among the elite video games properties. Very few games sell in excess of 1 million units in their first month in market, but Guitar Hero III did easily with combined sales of 1.4 million units in only 6 days. Since it has broad appeal, it's also the type of game that should continue to do very well throughout the holidays."

Regarding Accessory Sales:
"Accessory sales increased sharply coinciding with hardware sales as consumers continue to pick up additional controllers to use with their new systems. Because of Guitar Hero, guitar controllers also had a great month and helped drive some of the 94% year-over year increase in accessories."

I derive the most satisfaction from knowing that you "bububu Sales-Age is destroying teh GAFs" whining crybabies are probably devastated by this day week and thread. Too bad, develop some fucking elementary numeracy, then maybe you can join the big-boy party instead of drooling like genetic regressives while finger-painting on cave walls with cockroach ichor. Oh god how I love thee, NPD thread. Props to driley for sticking by us, and here's to hoping we see even more public release for ourselves and Yurop until parity with the JPN tracking agencies is achieved.

Wii numbers are incredible. DS is just WOW.

Again very low numbers for PS3.

And GHIII Wii did great

Is PS2 GH3 listed twice? Anyway, I expect to see some hilarious Sony PR after the anticipation they cooked up. Still does not bode well for the console to see it do so sluggishly. And again with the total absence of PS3 software. Great news again for Nintendo; it rides as high as ever (and Wii Play continues to move consistently good numbers in October, too).

Not really. PS2 GH3 isn't combined, but split between guitar and non-guitar SKUs. Combined, it'd be...

Also does the 360 drop off mean Reggie was right about the Halo gamer already having the Xbox? just a thought.

Does this mean that Halo 3 can only help 360 hardware that much?

Or is this still inconclusive?


PS3 GH3 is dissapointing though, although I'd like to see what happens with the $399 40 GB in November.

Holy crap at Wii.

Don't know what to think about post Halo 3 release X360 numbers though. If the system can keep up 300K+ a month in non holiday months (nov/dec) this would be good.

PS3 is lollers of course.
