Had a baby girl this morning after 24 hours of labour. Name TBD. Apparently healthy. Quite a set of lungs. Currently enjoy a rousing game of 'why u cry?!!'.

That's actually my daughter now. She constantly wants to play with other kids and they're kind of eh about it. When I was pregnant we went to the library then the little park right beside it afterward. There were a couple pregnant women there with kids and I was excited that maybe we could talk about it, but a little girl started teasing my daughter with a teddy bear then screaming that my daughter was trying to steal it from her. Charlotte had no idea what was going on and just wanted to play. I ended up taking her to a different park, a better park, and just crying.
I've actually avoided that area since then, we'd already had issues because she couldn't sit still during story time and none of the other children had that problem so I would get nasty looks. I called them pod children because they were devoid of personality and boring with their stupid moms who drove Honda CRV's...sorry. lol
With preschool she has started forming her own click, and the parents there kind of have to talk to you, so it does get better. It helps that she doesn't care if other kids snub her, she's too little to think anything of it, later if it keeps happening we might have issues, and I don't know if I'll be able to not cry when I talk to her about it. How can someone not want to play with my daughter? Well I mean I don't want to play with her sometimes, but that's different lol
H Pro sounds like school will do wonders for her as she'll have tons of new friends to play with all day!
I am not coping well with the lack of pain medication. She is coping better than most, apparently.
At this point I am definitely hoping this kid remains an only child.
Congratulations! I remember those days. In the beginning we just did everything every time the baby cried - Checked diaper, offered food, attempted burp and finally cuddles?!?
Au natural, eh? It has its advantages, but maaaaaaan it hurts like nothing else.
So much that, as Briareos says, you might just end up with another one once you've been lulled into a false sense of security... ;_;
A month and a half from his second birthday. I love him so much!
Yeah, at our house too. Pain was more than she was expecting.
Baby is 51 hours old and the labour already feels so far away.
I recommend the Spectra pump. It's better than the Medela in every way except price, and it's portable.
You can get adapters to use Medela parts with it, as well. My wife uses a Spectra pump but has pump parts from Medela, Maymom, Nenesupply, etc. We use Medela bottles with Dr. Brown's nipples fitted into Similac collars.Ah looks official. Thank you.
At home, so no hospital at all?
"they're letting us just leave with this kid? What the fuck?"
Can I freeze a moment in time and just have this image embedded in my brain forever?

Oh boy, life has certainly been a whirlwind for us since Saturday morning!
I feel you. Even though they don't (or don't quite) get the snub, it's a little heartbreaking for a mom to see. Like, they're being nice and friendly. As you say, why wouldn't they want to play with our kids? :/ And I totally get you on the whole bear thing, too. It's some bullshit, right? We had a similar thing at the park. Mia's quite obsessed with shoes right now and was just pointing at another little boy's sneakers saying "Shoe-shoe" and the kid screamed "mine!" as if she was trying to steal them. We're weren't even within reach of the kid and the mom just gave me this look. Little by little I'm getting kind of soured on this place. I know it'll probably get better once she starts school and there are more kids around to try, but yikes. At least we have here to vent a bit.

I am beyond proud to announce the arrival of our daughter, Cora, born weighing 7lbs 14oz and 20.25" long. She is absolutely perfect in every way and even has a full head of hair!
When I woke up on Saturday my wife told me she had some minor cramps but overall felt fine. I went to town for a while but She called me around 11:15am saying she was hurting a bit. When I got home she was in full blown labor. Her contractions were already a minute apart so we had to go. She had three contractions just walking from the bedroom to our vehicle.
Thank God we live so close to the hospital! Once we arrived they checked her out and she was instantly rushed to delivery saying she was already dilated to 10 centimeters and Cora was in the birth canal. My wife only pushed for five contractions and it was over. We left the house at 1:15pm and Cora was born at 1:57pm. Had we waited any longer it would ban have happened at home or in the vehicle.
We didn't even realize it could all happen so fast. We were still being admitted to the hospital after she was already born. We never had a chance to give our printed or birth plan to anyone, we didn't have to deal with anything from our classes, books or any videos we watched. It just...happened, quickly.
We haven't had any problems with our dog and cat, and we have had a few issues with breastfeeding, but overall it's just great.
Someone please tell me fours are better than threes. Lie to me if necessary.
There's so much pee and screaming, sometimes even at the same time. They REALLY are. Threes are the worst.
Somehow we didn't know about burping/remember it, which was a bit frantic at 1am on the first night. Just arrived at it when I read your post.
A few times she has just fallen asleep at the breast instead of eating, which has unsurprisingly resulted in being very hungry and unhappy and we just have to stuff a breast into her mouth for several rounds of suck-suck-bawl.
Yeah, at our house too. Pain was more than she was expecting.
She hasn't had any alcohol yet, though I suspect she's going to have a bit of Scotch before the week is out...

congrats downhome, nice head of hair
I've observed this behavior quite a bit on kids who stay home with their grandparents instead of school or a direct parent. Anecdotal I know but a dose of reality seems like it would do them some good.
Wow so a holiday with a six month old really isn't a holiday at all huh? Three weeks with my wife's (messed up) family and I swear to Christ I'm gonna get home, dump the baby off with my mom and go sleep for a week. Crying. Eating. Pissing. In the car. Out of the car. On the plane. Dinner here. Lunch there. Visiting here. Fuuuuuuuuck me. Baby is holding up really well but I'm not!
This is my daughter, she's 3, so it doesn't stop with age, sorry. Plus side my son is learning to talk faster than she did because of the constant talking. Minus, her commentary is no where near that cute. Maybe it's just because I can't hear it though lol. My husband was actually just diagnosed ADHD and he's wondering if she has ADD because of the constant motion. I told him she's 3 it's too soon to tell, but it is something we'll have to look out for. I'm hoping if she is we'll manage it better than our parents did. Time Will tell.
Is there like a test for ADHD? i wonder if... ooh look, a bee!
Is there like a test for ADHD? i wonder if i have it sometimes..
Our preschool doesn't accept students until they're three. One to two classes a week should be fine you don't want to over schedule a child that young.
Can't tell if I'm the best parent ever or raising a mini David Lynch or something.
Per the literature, it looks like a 9% danger for women under 35. That seems to be the best writing on it I could find in terms of specifics, grep for 'subchorionic': Good luck with the follow-ups.but the notes do read quite horribly in the meantime. :/
Best parent of a mini Lynch, obviously.
No, but similarly, we had a time when they told us that he had a higher than normal risk of Downs, and it was a really scary time between them and getting the next test.So just had our 20 week scan and when the U/S tech calls in another tech because she's 'never seen anything like it' you know it's not a good sign. Any other ladies (or dads' partners) have a nice, massive potential SCH (subchorionic hemorrhage) this far in? Have had no issues this whole pregnancy otherwise and have been referred to a bigger hospital for another scan probably this week or next to get a better idea of what the 'fluid' is, but the notes do read quite horribly in the meantime. :/
This is gonna be a meme one dayCan't tell if I'm the best parent ever or raising a mini David Lynch or something.
