PlayStation 5 [OT] Taking Over The World One SSD At A Time

Guys, help :

- Booted up my Pro today and the system hitched for 2-3 seconds after which the screen got dark but my system resumed normally after that without rebooting or anything ...
Got presented with the "there was a problem with the system software" - console is A-OK but it's just that it's the 1st time that I've encountered this...

- the boot-up sequence , after the newly introduced "welcome tab" is laggy - is it normal? Maybe it's got to do with using an animated background ?

- The "other" folder (in the storage menu) has reached 94GB for fuck's sake ! Had the base PS5 for 1.5 years and it was around 30GB, what's up with that ?
Is it proportionate to the number of games installed on the internal SSD by any chance ?meaning, does the number get bigger depending on how many games you have installed ?
The Pro has a 2TB SSD and i have about 700GB left, will deleting some games make the number go down? (I'd like some confirmation before doing so).

Thanks
Make sure you're on the latest firmware - mine installed a new one when I first booted it up. Never had your system error thankfully. My system isnt laggy, though others have mentioned it. I'm at 115Gb in the Other folder, though I never pay attention as I have 6TB (2 sys + 4 internal expansion).

Thanks mate 😉

Apparently, the "other" system folder is MOSTLY dependent on the number of PS4 (not PS5) games you have installed.

The laggy boot up animation is a weird one - console starts at the "welcome hub" since the feature got introduced and the lag is very apparent for 1-2 seconds.
Reset my console 'cause of my OCD aaaand...the lag is not there ? What the heck...
Anyway, I'm restoring my stuff via HDD now and after it's done I'm going to download some games and see if it's related - maybe the system gets bogged down depending on how much stuff you got installed ? fuck knows at this point...

Cheers

Has anyone had issues with Spotify on their PS5 lately?

Last weekend the Spotify app on my PS5 decided to just stop working completely and despite trying pretty much everything it simply won't work. Most of the time it I get this:
dxUfdsi.jpeg

At times I get different error codes:
F7TP0Aq.jpeg
kxaU22k.jpeg

Can't find anything on these codes when googling. Useless.

I have tried:
-Repeatedly de-linked and relinked my Spotify account to my PSN both via the console and from the account itself via browser.
-Tried "Listen on Spotify" on several different tracks via the quick access music player.
-Deleting the app, restarting the console and installed the app again.
-Moving the app from the M2 SSD to console storage.
-Clearing the cache and rebuilding the database.
-I've rebooted my router several times.

Neither of the above seem to help. Any guesses on how to solve this?
I haven't tried reinitializing my PS5, but that's pretty much a last resort, I'd rather not do that if it can be avoided.

No one shall be brought before our LORD David Bowie without the true and secret knowledge of the Photoshop. For in that time, so shall He appear.
I don’t know where else to post this.

Is PSN going reeeaaaallly slow for anyone else? It won’t even connect to do a speed test, and when I try to update my PS5, it’s telling me 12+ hours.

It’s not my ISP, either.

Edit:
Nevermind, it was a me problem. Router issues.

The black friday sale was 30% off. Wait and see if they repeat over the next day or so in a flash sale maybe?

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Can someone link me to a good website/resource that lists VRR compatible monitors for the PS5?

I'm looking to get a newer, bigger, screen and on Xbox is damn near universal support but PS5 is a lot more finicky, so I want to make sure I'm looking at the right options.

The dualsense controllers have have trash quality control for me. The dualsense that originally came with my ps5 had one analog stick that was squeaky sometimes, another one had a dpad that was sometimes squeaky, and this newest one I got like a year ago on sale but I’m just now using it and the plastic shell is super creaky on the right side when you grip it and the buttons feel completely different than my older ones. Maybe I’ve just been unlucky but that plus the fact that they raised the msrp on them last year is crazy. Prior to this generation I never had an issue with a first party controller.

Celsius, I...don't disagree man.
The 1st dualsense that came with my console (GOW Ragnarok bundle) was absolutely fine even after 1 year and a half of constant use.
The 2nd I got as a spare (galactic purple) got creaky/squeaky after 1 week, took it back to GameStop and exchanged it for a black one which still works fine 1+ years later.
Now, the one that came with the PS5 Pro...decided to die all of a sudden for no reason after only 2 months, at first the guide button would act weirdly in that it wouldn't bring up the pop-up menu all the time, it wouldn't turn on the console, it stopped sync-ing with the console and finally, not even one day later it was dead.
Sent it to Sony for repairs and 17 days later (took kind of long eh ?) I had a new/refurbished one.
So, that's 2 shitty out of 4 joypads in total, 50% faulty ratio in my case.

Now, the Xbox/XSX joypads on the other hand...I must have had 5 failures/faulty ones due to the bumper buttons giving up (twice), triggers grinding on the joypad's lower chassis, detached/not properly installed vibration motors resulting in terrible BrrrZZZzz sounds whenever they would get activated, sticky A/Y buttons etc etc.

Quality control has gone downhill the past few years and I can't understand how these companies continue to get away with it, shit sucks...

Picked up Persona 5 Tactica for $10, heard it was pretty mid. But at $10, cheap enough to scratch a small srpg itch

Realistically speaking, how soon can we expect a Pro price cut (if any)?

Do you guys expect a disk drive bundle coming this year?

Bought a PS5 pro yesterday but I think its faulty. It has issues connecting to the wifi and getting any decent speeds, will randomly drop connection and ground to a halt + disconnect me from PSN and return the error "cannot obtain IP address within time limit".

I tried 3 different wifi networks and it did the same for all after a while, gives me an error while downloading games because of it.

I made sure to connect it only to 5ghz or 6ghz bands, used google dns and tried all sorts of troubleshooting.

Im wondering if anyone has had similar before I just take my L and take it back for an exchange.

Ended up just exchanging it. New one connected right away, no dropped connection and full speeds so far. Apparently its an issue with some PRO units.
