PlayStation VR2 |OT| I heard it has a single cable. Is this true?

What is currently your most anticipated game?

I'm still really digging Stride: Fates and things really came together last night with a few mechanics I had been sleeping on.

Game is goofy as hell when it comes to AI and story but the graphics are good, the framerate is 90, controls are good. It definitely has some jank but it makes sense considering what the game allows you to do.

Finally got to try it after opening it up. Here are my impressions.

It's much better than PSVR1 and that's awesome! However, it isn't as clear as I envisioned it. I have found the sweet spot but it's just a bit more blurry than I expected. I played mostly GT7 and it blew away GT Sport, that game was ugly everywhere except the cockpit. I could tell it was more crisp in replay so PS5 still has some trouble reproducing non VR graphics.

Kayak VR had the same impressions.

Haven't played Horizon yet.

Overall, a big upgrade! Hopefully it works with PS6 and PSVR3 will just be better hardware without starting over again.
Another thing I noticed right away is how much lighter it is than the first headset and the light shield is much better.

I suddenly fell into a Gran Turismo rabbit hole. Took the headset off last night, it nearly 2 in the morning lol. Probably longest session I ever had. Sometimes VR just hits.

Edit: Red Matter 2 was basically a religious experience for a nerd like me. The scope of the first scene floored me. Being a space dork and realizing VR is the closest I'll ever come to seeing something like that. Was real-ish enough to give me a queasy feeling from the height! I immediately stopped playing after the first intro puzzle because I think I need to go back and playing Red Matter 1. I don't really care about the story, tbh, seems like low budget whatever... but the experience is awesome.

I bought Demeo Battles tonight and played around 3 hours: half solo challenges and half online pvp.

Well, if you love Demeo, you just can't go wrong with Battles, and know that the pvp matches are extremelly well paced and need a LOT of tactics and thinking.

Its basically a Tactical RPG in PVP, with a shit ton of options, maps and things to learn or unlock.

Easy 8+, now I need to see if the balance and everything works in the long run, but damn these guys are fucking good at what they do!

When I got the thing home day 1, I bought a million games in the honeymoon period and could hardly play any of them because I was so stuck on gt7. It has to be one of the best vr games you can get.

In my opinion, some one needs to give the developers the Star Trek IP and let them make a VR game with it.

Red Matter 2 (and 1) are phenomenal games and give that Star Trek feeling like nothing else I've experienced.

Star Trek Bridge Crew was cool, but its not like Red Matter in that regard...which is crazy when you think about it.

I confirm my first lmpressions on Demeo Battles, it is really great! It is definitely worth it even just for the solo challenges imo: the game has 60 levels that take between 10 to 20 minutes to complete, with different conditions and maps, allowing for a good amount of depth and lots of different startegies. Each level has a ranking system and you are rewarded with keys to unlock stuff like skin, maps, characters etc.. Pretty simple but satisfying progression system imo.

The gameplay is also pretty different than Demeo as you can now summon creatures to fight with you, adding another layer of tactic (and fun) to the table. It is pretty cool to have a horde of 10 creatures fighting for you !

Imo the game really shines in pvp but the solo is also very interesting in its own, with I'd say 20 hours of solid TRPG content. So yeah if you are on the fence, I can confirm this is top quality.

Monster Hunter is running on a proprietary Capcom engine, correct? Wilds is RE Engine? I’m just curious, wondering if there’s any way to force the game (PC version) into VR like you can with some Unreal engine games now. It’s my most wanted VR game, and ironically Capcom is the dev most willing to put their AAA into VR… just not Monster Hunter unfortunately. Likely to never hit consoles, but I think if they made a VR version they’d be surprised by positive feedback.

Crayon Crayon , weren't you asking about Colossal Cave?

I played a bit of the casual mode. It retains the puzzles but removes certain things that would end runs. It's super old school, like I had previously described. I'd say hold off unless you have an affinity for games like that.

I also played Retropolis 2. It's on sale for $12.50 I think. Really cool so far. It's like a Lucasarts style point and click but in first-person. And then there's 7th Guest VR.

So if you're looking for an adventure game, definitely go with Retropolis 2 or 7th Guest before Colossal Cave.

I picked up 7th guest, had retropolis in my cart but slimmed it down because I was starting to go ham.

You're probably right about colossal cave, though. I would probably be better off playing an actual text adventure.

Finished Stride: Fates. That game is awesome. It is a serious campaign. The levels are massive and the game is damn challenging at times. 3 different guns, lots of weapon upgrades in levels, hidden well and usually locked inside a puzzle chest.

The voice acting is terrible and the story doesn't make much sense. There is no shortage of climbing jank and the game can be frustrating as hell. It's also relatively easy outside of a few difficulty spikes. You also have to casually pump your arms up and down to run.

I really enjoyed it though and three sections in particular make me feel like a VR master. The difficulty spikes are pretty ridiculous if I'm being honest. Highly recommend this game if you are patient and really want something that is going to make you earn it. It also looks great in the headset and is 90fps. I only came across one instance of slowdown; early mission during an apartment section.

There's also some free DLC I need to play.

Here's a quick clip of combat and then two longer sections. The final boss was absurd with the VR multitasking. My heart rate was so damn high due to pumping my arms to run.

The Hanzo level, good grief it was ridiculous and balls hard at times. So damn satisfying to overcome though.

Thanks for the detailed feedback! Apparently the dlc is awesome with a small open world. I am definitely gonna play this game at some point.

It's a solid purchase for $15 IMO, and honestly one of the meatiest campaigns I've played in VR. It's really impressive how big the levels are.

Yes, the game has issues and it's gonna frustrate you at times but man, it was so damn satisfying to complete. One of those games where it's like, "I earned that..."

If you do get the game, try to remember that you can crawl on the ground. You have to crouch in game and then grab the floor and drag yourself forward. There's a stealth mission in the middle of the game and you need to crawl under a hospital bed. If you don't grab the ground and force yourself forward, you'll find yourself stuck and you'll think that the game soft locked. The game has a few moments like that, where it seems like something broke. It's a good thing but also bad IMO. The game has a guide marker but it doesn't hold your hand. To me it came off as a mix of poor design and also a mix of the developers expecting the player to figure certain things out themselves, and that goes back to my sense of satisfaction because I was really scratching my head at times.

The next "roasted at launch" game I want to play is Hello Neighbor: Search and Rescue. This game also received a ton of patches and I played about 90 minutes a few months ago. It was really cool and smooth sailing for the most part, need to start a new file and complete it.

Forgot to mention that my wife got me the VR Cover. I don't use the headstrap, seems useless. The covers though, so damn comfy. It's like a really soft denim. I'm so used to the natural fit of the headset, I just wanted something a bit more soft on my forehead.

That would be pretty awesome, but I think that would require a ton of work to adapt the game and make it run smoothly in VR. Would love to see it, though.

I finished Moss 2 again yesterday. I just wanted to launch the game for a few minutes, but ended up finishing it in 2 seatings (in 4h30, took me 6h30 the first time). Also got the platinum.

This game is so damn good! The visuals, improved gameplay over book 1, the bosses, the different biomes, the music etc..

Now I think I am gonna play either Metro or Alien, but I am also eyeing Tiger Blade for 6 bucks.

Well, i added 2 more games, i have to lock my card now, cant keep buying more, our holiday is awsesome though, almost 3 weeks vacation over christmas, so plenty of gamingtime 😄

I bought Walkabout Minigolf yesterday, very good and also feels really relaxing, played a couple of onlinegames and it was wonderful, the people i played against tried to help me and were very Nice and friendly.

Today i bought a game I wanted since release, but its not available in my country, so it bought on my us account, game is Compound, as a rougelikefan this will be my poison for a while, have not played more then 30min but it feels amazing, cant wait to play more!

I also went full retard these sales and bought many games... some of them were not even discounted.

In the meantime, I want a flat game but I dont want another 50h+ experience for now, so VR is perfect.

Look forward to your feedback on Compound, if you have the time ofc, this game looks like a gem!

Booted up Call of the Mountain last night and played seated. I never play seated.

Two things, this game feels great to play seated and wow, I forgot how good this game looks. I also realized that my turn speed wasn't on Maximum. Such silly names for turn speed, I think I was on "Fastest" but then there's "Max", just give us numbers or a slider, lol.

COTM is nice for me because if I play a game that was roasted or didn't receive much coverage, I feel compelled to get quality gameplay footage to help with the PSVR2 algorithm and for people who are on the fence with a game, but COTM is a big enough game that I don't care about helping it get exposure. I can just sit back and enjoy the game.

However, I'm not a fan of the 2 female versions of Rico raging at me and calling me Shadow Carja. Shit is cringe as hell.

I finally started this game with not much hype due to the middling reviews but so far it's really awesome. I love the mountain climbing parts, feels very interactive and I love using the bow and arrow.

I don't know about Wilds but Rise (and other RE Engine games like RE2/3/4/7/8, Street Fighter 6, etc.) can run in VR with Praydog's ReFramework.

Depending on the game they need a pretty powerful GPU and/or lower graphic settings/resolution than when running on flatscreen. (Rise is very lightweight while RE4 runs terrible on my 3070Ti)

And another thing that I’ve grown to really appreciate about PSVR2 is the haptics. Simple things like putting on the gas mask in Metro and you can feel it go on due to the headset haptics. Same when getting shot at. It’s awesome and further adds to the immersion.

I like the climbing too, I forgot how smooth it is. Quite exhausting too, reminds me of being in Boot Camp and having to do arm circles, lol.

While playing the game though, I can't help but feel like the whole thing suffers because it's the Horizon IP. I'm sure there's some good lore and references but I have no idea what these people are talking about. I even played the majority of Zero Dawn and that game didn't even make sense to me while I was playing it, way too many weird names and clans to remember.

I was thinking of the Stallone movie Cliffhanger while playing COTM, imagine if it was the same thing gameplay-wise but just a typical action romp. Could have been called...BLOOD AND GRAVITY :messenger_grinning_sweat: Maybe that would have turned more heads as a launch title.

Hello Neighbor: Search and Rescue is legit fantastic so far. I suspect I'm more than half way done. I've had a few jank encounters that really had me scared of the game breaking but I got around it.

I'll go into more once I'm done with the game but I truly feel like some of you would enjoy this. The puzzles are fun, the level design is impressive, good vibe, music, art style. Incredibly charming game.

Finished Hello Neighbor: Search and Rescue. Thoroughly enjoyed myself. The game reminds me of Don Bluth films, Stephen King's IT, RE7, The People Under the Stairs.

Pure puzzler and the puzzles are really good. You're able to switch to different characters at-will. Each character has a unique item that helps with puzzles (baseball bat for knocking down destructible walls, slingshot, magnifying glass that shows hidden writing, flash light). You're basically given free reign to the neighbors house and you just explore until you can see the solution to whatever puzzle you're trying to solve. The exploration is really satisfying and the puzzles usually involve some kind of climbing, the climbing is handled incredibly well. This game really does not baby the player and it's all the better for it. Every solution felt great and I was never hung up too long, only on the last major puzzle and I'm glad I didn't cheat and look at YT.

There's also the Neighbor stalking you throughout the house. I was a bit concerned about this because I don't like stealth-type games when something is stalking you and you can't defend yourself. Prior to playing, I had images in my head of bad AI and not being able to progress, etc. Not the case at all. I realized a few hours in that the Neighbor is mostly just there to keep you on edge and give you a jump scare. The neighbor is going to find you and catch you, all it does is send you to the nearest closet (that you would otherwise hide in). No progression lost, no nothing. The only time it creates extra work is if you have a key in your hand or there's a key on the floor where he caught you. At that point, the neighbor takes the key and puts it on a key ring that's hanging on the wall in a different section of the house. You can just grab the key with whoever is in that area and then go back and give it to the kid who needs it. I only had to go through that process once. Switching to a character automatically sends the character you were playing as to the nearest closet. It's a super seamless gameplay loop.

This game was honestly cool as F for me. The music, art style, puzzles, atmosphere. It was so good. The game is sinister as hell too. I honestly have no idea what the lore of this series is but stuff started happening towards the end and I was really surprised. Think of the sinister images in Don Bluth films and that's basically what you get in VR. The game is legit spooky at times too.

I had a few moments of jank but nothing too wild. I'm going to play through it a second time to see if it happens again.

It took probably 5 hours, maybe 6. My second playthrough will be much quicker but I absolutely plan on playing this game multiple times due to the OST and atmosphere. The climbing too, I really enjoyed the climbing sections.

Overall, if you can handle a bit of jank and if the description above sounds cool to you, I would say this game is an absolute must play. I'm honestly stunned that this game hasn't been revisited, it is an absolute gem IMO.

This game flew of my radar, even though I was kinda interested. Perhaps the lack of free time to play more games, dunno. It is very cheap right now, might buy it now after your review. Thanks!

Well then, i have played about 4-5 h now, so i think i can share some thougts.

Its a pretty straightforward rougelike, it plays and looks fantastic, it might feel barebones on content, still i read that people are coming back to it all the time, it has that "one more run" feeling and people have sinked hundreds of hours on this game.

Dont know if dev have plans for the game, i think this game has extreme potential to evolve, my popcornbrain just explodes of all things i would like to add for this game.

I will sink a lot of hours into this one thats for sure.

Gonna play now actually 😃
