So I decided to dip my toe into competitive battle and I have started the process of creating my team.

Can't wait to see the final result.

My newbie team-building process: "I'm gonna be a special snowflake and use Rapidash and Ampharos! They are secretly really good!"

My current team-building process: "Okay, I need a meg- Mega Kangaskhan, she's the best. Okay, Intimid- Landorus-T, he's the best." And so on. At least when I get to fire types I have a few different options but if I don't choose Heatran for that I feel obligated to use Aegislash.

EDIT: That's for serious teams tho. For "for fun" teams it's wildly different.

Yeah my team will mostly be just for fun. If they win battles great, if not eh no big deal.

My heart still firmly lies in the single player content but this is just a little extra as I always wanted to battle other players but my main in-game team are not built for that.

It's pretty fun. I'm not a serious competitor, but there's a great sense of pride when you finish breeding and EV training one of your favorites. Love my Medicham from Platinum, the first one I ever EV trained. :)

Dude my newbie VGC team had nothing but fire types, haha, good thing I scrapped those plans before I got to work on it.

And it was led by a Rapidash no less.

I just got swept by a fucking Lillipup. Fuck off Cheren. EDIT: Take 2 started out even worse. Fuck.

EDIT2: Cheren's Pidove can go to hell oh my god.

EDIT3: Counter and predicting how his AI would behave proved to do the trick. My god I actually got wiped out twice though and I was seriously trying both of those times. Damn.

Man, gen 3 was awesome. I have Ruby, Emerald, Colleseum & XD.

I remember going through Colleseum catching EVERY Pokemon as female so that I could breed them. This was before Ditto was obtainable. That one fight near the end of the game where the trainer had 3 or 4 shadow Pokemon was torture. I spent at least a week at that part. I did the 100 person battle tower a couple times. Got all the Johto starters with the elemental beams and Ho-Oh.

I was able to obtain every Pokemon that generation except for Mew and... Lunatone.

I even bought Pokemon Box from the Pokemon Store website. And I have that Mystery Island eReader card from Nintedo Power kicking around somewhere. Never had an eReader though.

Just before Gen IV, my Emerald cart got stolen. It had everything!!! My living dex, my extra legendaries, a bunch of the XD Pokemon (they had exclusive moves) & my shiny Parasect & shiny Ditto, which I ran into both on the same day while leveling up Pokemon in the Unknown Dungeon.

I've never had the heart to play through another Gen III game ever again.

Not sure if mentioned (since it's kinda old), but ORAS will be used in Worlds 2016. If an early 2016 Game Freak release is scheduled, it either won't be in use, or rules will change to reflect that. It's not quite unprecedented, since Worlds 2012 also used BW (in spite of B2W2 having released in Japan that June), but I thought it's pretty interesting, especially considering that a worldwide release is most likely planned this time around.

They're not going to reveal a new game in a little sidenote on that page.

Guys, Guys, the Pokemon Trading Card Online Game is legit.

I went back to it since the Forkball thread 4 days ago, and i'm still playing it.

You get so many bonuses just from playing it, that you are basically not required to buy any Booster Packs in RL for the Game.

I recieved another booster pack just now in wich i found a Manectric Ex card, wich is now my second Ex card after Heracross, and i have yet buy a single thing with the in-game currency that i got up until now.

Also you have so many trainer challenges that you don't even need to play against other players for a while.

And it's fun :p

Obviously. But the decision to announce the games that will be used in the Championship Series could imply a ~March 2016 release isn't planned. Pt, HGSS and BW released in March in the west (May in Europe/Australia for Pt) and were used in their respective years' Worlds. Meanwhile, a June release has been sidelined before (though there were additional reasons for that -- the lack of a worldwide release), meaning a June 2016 release could be more viable, not to mention compatible with a January/February announcement.

They update with the new rules in December. If a new game is coming and we know by then, it'll be altered accordingly.

There's nothing they can say other than that it uses ORAS until a game is announced. To say anything otherwise is to ruin the game's announcement.

You're reading way too much into it.

'd say it's very likely we'll be on ORAS but they won't tell us regardless on that page. We may have a new ruleset for 2016 which should be announced in 1.5 - 2 months.

I quit and switched to Hearthstone because the trading interface was so awful :( I think I'd like it more if I could buy singles and they had a decent $ -> gem conversion. I might check back as I haven't really played since daily challenges and such were implemented.

I spent about four hours looking for eevee in Black 2 in the spot you're probably at and I got one first encounter on White 2.

I ran into a Lilligant and caught it. Apparently I accidentally ran into a shaking spot and got very lucky.

So I can apparently do that but not get an Eevee.

Game's a fuckwad. :X

Use Repel and a level 19 Pokémon in the dark grass, or a level 18 in the normal grass, and Eevee will be the only thing you can find.

I feel like since the iPad version came out it's been a mixed bag. Some things have gotten better. Some things have gotten worse. Because everyone is trying to fulfill requirements, leaving mid game is common. Not going to lie, I do it too. I don't have forever to spend on games. Some people just putz around leaving the AFK thing to come up multiple times in a game. I just don't have unlimited time to spend with games. And while the goals are nice, leaves me feeling kind of empty inside. Least before the changes I just played to played. No pressure or anything.

Not this new 3 week period, but previous one they started with the 2k points being top for prizes. I felt like the 760 or whatever it was was too low. Could hit that pretty easily. But I feel like the 2k cap is way too darn high. Especially now I'm getting less time to play. Wish they'd left the card at previous mark and just added extra bonus of only booster packs and stuff at higher end. Meh.

My problem with TCG is just a lot of things. But it's probably why I won't ever get back into the physical one for playing. Things just seem to get ridiculously more stupid. The Mental deck with Gallade can get ridiculous quick. The new XY Water deck with Lapras can get stupid quick. Like playing that old deck you used to? Too bad, because it's probably not going to stand up to this new stuff. I could run Dark Hammer pretty well up until XY Water deck came out. Now I just use Iron Head deck to steam roll shit, leaving behind my favorite deck. :(

I also have issue with crafting your own decks. That's my favorite part about playing the card game. Used to love spending hours crafting them to take to Pokemon League the next week to try them out. But in TCGO it's all EX Pokemon in a deck or whatever. RIdiculously stupid and not fun. What if I just want to roll with a non EX Pokemon deck to have fun? I dunno I think my idea of fun is far different from everyone elses. For them it's only the win I guess.

I feel like Im getting blue balled here, I'm so ready for an announcement already!

The next core game will most likely not be revealed by CoroCoro. Just like XY and ORAS, it will probably be through a Nintendo Direct (or similar live stream) or their social media channels. And don't assume "Pokémon Z" exists. :p

October 29th, the date Shiny Xerneas and Shiny Yveltal codes will be distributed, is the debut of the XY & Z series. I wonder if November 12th signifies some other event.

Thinking about it, only Blue and Platinum were revealed by CoroCoro...unsure about Yellow and Crystal though.

Ruby & Sapphire were revealed at the GBA Reveal event in March 2001
FireRed/LeafGreen were revealed in a 5th Grader magazine in September 2003
Emerald was revealed in Pokémon Fan magazine in July 2004
Diamond & Pearl were revealed in a Nintendo listing in October 2004
Platinum was revealed in CoroCoro in May 2009
HeartGold & SoulSilver was revealed on the official site in May 2009
Black & White were revealed on the official site in April 2010
Black 2 & White 2 were revealed on Pokémon Smash in February 2012
X & Y were revealed in a Pokémon Direct in January 2013
Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire were revealed via the official site (and its youtube) in May 2014.

So I am a bit perplexed as to why people keep expecting CoroCoro to reveal a new game. When one is revealed and we're waiting for info, then yes let's get hyped, but for the announcement? No.

Nov 12th only seems confusing to you because you're misunderstanding it. It's like this:

Oct 29th: Shiny Xerneas
Nov 5th: Shiny Yveltal
Nov 12th: Zygarde

It's just one each week to go with XY&Z.
