Tonight I'm gonna preload SMD. I decided to get it in Japanese after all because I know damn fucking well that waiting for the English release would just wind up in me spoiling myself heavily. Also it would cost about the same either way if I go the digital route because lolexchangerates

Also it seems I'll need to get a Japanese Gen III game to work with my Japanese XD, assuming my cable isn't just screwed up (but it doesn't seem to be), because I want my Follow Me Boober goddammit. Are Japanese fakes as widespread as English fakes? Or can I just get a used Japanese Emerald off of a seller on Amazon with 98% - 100% feedback and be good?

Only took me 8 Reviver Seeds to beat that 1 star quest.

Game made me cry and I don't think I'm even at the midway point yet. Damn.
But once you get past it you'll get lots of quests that are 100x easier.
EDIT: Here's the task given in that quest, to give you guys an idea:
Less "hard game" and more "that one boss". It's not a quest you can just ignore until later on because if you don't do it you can't get more quests. I tried to ignore it by advancing the story via vanilla dungeon runs, which worked, but I couldn't get more quests so I eventually just bruteforced it with all those reviver seeds.
But once you get past it you'll get lots of quests that are 100x easier.
EDIT: Here's the task given in that quest, to give you guys an idea:
Defeat a Salamence that OHKOs everything.
Just the beginning...
I must have used over 100 reviver seeds by now, and they're getting rarer and rarer

ah there's a password for super mystery dungeon from latest dengeki nintendo (nov 2015) issue that gives 20x すいみんのえだ (sleep branch?). i think it isn't unique code since it is printed on the page.

Oh cool. Certain trios of Pokemon get a 3x exp bonus. Not sure if you'll have to experiment but I can confirm it does tell you this when you get your first trio. My first trio is

I think it actually sort of sounds neat---yeah, a bit less free perhaps, but having specific requirement to recruit everyone gives it sort of a Suikoden feel or something. Do most of the Pokemon you recruit have little stories behind why they join you?

Yeah that's fine, it beats my option because Amazon takes care of their shipping. It doesn't for mine.
As long as the seller and the item is based in Japan you're fine when it comes with used carts. Not trying to discriminate but too many bootlegs of carts. And I'm not just talking about online, ebgamestop sold me a bootleg used Pokemon Pearl, which they were nice enough to exchange for a real one.

For the most part it works fine, but the difficulty balancing is out of whack. That one where I got OHKOed 8 times? That was a 1-star mission that's also needed to do more quests. That was like my 7th attempt by the way. I was so happy to have finally beaten it. There are other quests that are "1 star my ass" too, along with "3 stars? That was really easy..."
Throw in a few of the mons you get being over triple your current level and you have some questionable design decisions. Overall I like this more than the old mission and recruiting systems but oh my god, that one quest will scar me for life...
