Fun fact, the regions from all three main Dungeon games are in this. We previously thought it was just Red/Blue's, but nope

Cool. I'm pretty sure most people were thinking this was the case though?

So all the Mysterious Dungeon games are, perhaps, connected?

So, the Pokemon Mysterious Dungeon Universe was actually
the Kirby Universe all along?!

Deepest. Lore.

@lupinko: Well, I already have an English Emerald. But I need a JPN one for XD it seems. It hates my English carts. I did some testing and basically once the game detects that I'm using an English Emerald it just goes "NOPE!" Also I'm gonna RNG on XD which is like the complete opposite of Emerald's RNG in terms of difficulty. lol

Okay, 3x bonus exp thing is:

Some ingame days the game will give you 3 Pokemon that allegedly are very compatible with each other. They will have their own, special team slot. Use this preassembled team for a 3x exp bonus. Assembling these same mons on a different day will not get you the bonus.

Oh and also, it seems that your mons gain exp passively. Noticed some of my guys are at higher levels now and I never used them. Thank goodness. lol

Ooooh! I like that...always wish MD had leaked EXP.

What? Please explain.

The main enemy of the game is a giant, one-eyed blob of darkness from space called Dark Matter

For most quests, bullshit one-star aside, quest type is set but most quest details are randomized. I *think* continent is also set though.

EDIT: I know this because during a dungeon I accidentally tried to steal from Keckleon's shop so I chose to go back to my last save, which coincidentally was just before a lot of quests generated.

I just took a step at full health and died. For the hell of it I decided to see how the password and QR Code functions work. Here's the password I got:

#4+JK9RMR4R0YHK5M67-
X2=RT24RH3Y%MW(insert double circle here)8P52
J+1T-Q%682Q29TP60RT0

QR Code:

WVW69iZbqjEgVFPs9K

And there you have it; this should give you an idea of how things work. What you do for the QR Code is post it to your photo album via 3DS Miiverse, go to Miiverse on your computer or whatever, and copy and paste. You can also take a pic of your password instead if you want.

But like... what the fucking hell is up with that double circle!? EDIT: And yes, I seriously did take one step at the start of floor 5 and died. I'm laughing my fucking ass off.

EDIT2: Before anybody asks, yes, I didn't bother waiting and just rescued myself instead. Woot!

Well if you just want to transfer said XD mon over, if you're playing on a HBC Wii with your Japanese XD, you could always just send me the save backup and I can just transfer it for you. It would also save you money.

You can do that? That would be really nice actually!

Z hype got me watching the XY Anime again...

I forgot how "chill" Ash is in this series. He's not as competent as he was in Diamond and Pearl (when he was at his peak, imo), but he feels very mature here. I guess because this is the first time he's really the most experienced character without Brock or Cilan around, and it seems like the writers sort of toned him down and have him sort of serve as a background character in a lot of cases. Also, his voice in the original seems a lot deeper. I sort of like his characterization here, although he's using Pikachu way too much, at least at the early part of the series...

So, so, so much better than Best Wishes Ash. Ugh. In my opinion, Kanto Ash is dead---it worked back when the show first started out, but dumbing down Ash and trying to make him charming for being a rookie just doesn't work anymore, and it was dumb to try that in Best Wishes.

I haven't even finished a Pokémon Mystery Dungeon game, I need to go back and finish Gates to Infinity and play Red Rescue Team and Explorers of Sky.

I also need to get the last two Pokémon Ranger games.

By the way Pokémon Black and White are 5 years old today. Great games and I loved the new Pokémon and the Unova region.

I dunno, I don't like Ash's team in the XY animé, it just doesn't gel well and him having three flying types doesn't help either.

On the bright side however it's better than his Jotho team.

Personally I think that nothing could ever top his Sinnoh team or his rotating Unova team.

his rotating unova team of actually its just snivy, pikachu, pignite, oshawott, scraggy and whatever lucky soul gets called out

I like his current team. While he basically became a birdkeeper, each of his pokemon are pretty developed and they all get a chance to shine

PRAISE THE BRANCH! BRANCH OP!

Just enter chapter 7. Are they serious with that

Yeah, XY's team feels...off to me. I haven't gotten to where he even gets Hawlucha, but I agree having three Flying-types does sort of throw me off, even if all three are relatively unique, and when I see a group shot of Ash's XY team there is a sense of "that's it?".

Anyway, speaking of Ash's teams, here's what I think of them...

First, there's the Kanto team (and more or less the OI Team)...you know it's the classic group, but in retrospect I wish it didn't focus so much on the Starters. The Starters were all good Pokemon, don't get me wrong, but I wish his other Pokemon had gotten more time in the spotlight...Pidgeotto really didn't do much except serve as the Balloon Popper/Searcher, and his host of other Pokemon he caught throughout the region were neat, but I wish they had popped up more outside of the League or weren't so quickly dropped. Lapras and Snorlax were fun additions for Orange Islands, but both of them suffered the same issue of being mostly ignored for the Starters. But you know, the show was new...

Johto I think had the same issue as the Johto games, the Kanto Pokemon monopolized the spotlight of the new Pokemon---yeah, the Kanto Starters all eventually left, but they were around long enough that I felt Bayleaf, Totodile, and Cyndaquil sort of suffered for it. Bayleaf was the only one who I thought almost escaped the shadow of its Kanto equivalent due to having a cute personality, whereas Totodile and Cyndaquil were entirely one-note "dancing" and "timid". Also it bothered me how only Bayleaf evolved, and just once, and none of the other Starters did. As the follow-up to Kanto, you think they would've let Ash have some more evolved Pokemon? Anyway, he had three other main members if you exclude Larvitar since it wasn't really officially his---Noctowl was neater than Pidgeotto, but only like in its debut episode and like one or two others, often he was completely ignored. I remember watching a few Johto fillers, and there are numerous moments where Ash calls out his other Pokemon to play EXCEPT Noctowl. The writers treated the Bird Pokemon as like second-class citizens in the early seasons. Heracross got fucking cheated. Oak'd so he could use Taurus in that Trading Convention episode, and then Ash never got him back basically, despite having room in his team more or less. And he was such a cool Pokemon too! And then there was Phanpy...did nothing in Johto, came back and evolved in the Battle Frontier, and then basically didn't do anything there either. Duh.

Hoenn...Hoenn was personally my favorite. For the first time they didn't stick Ash with all the Starters, and I honestly like this layout better...it makes me wonder what it'd be like if they did that for the other seasons? I mean, with Kanto you can imagine Ash just getting Bulbasaur, Brock getting Charmander (since, to be fair, he helped Charmander the most in its episode), and Misty with Squirtle, obviously...and then with Isshu too, I thought the Starters would've been nice to divide among the group...the blue-colored Ash gets the Japanese Otter, the Grass-trainer Cilan gets the European-inspired Snivy, and Iris gets Tepid with the Chinese-motif, it works out pretty well. But anyway, yeah...Treecko was BOSS. I know this might be controversial, but he's Ash's #1 over Charizard for me and I'm hyped that he's possibly coming back. He jobbed a bit near the end once he became Sceptile, so I hope the Mega Evolution changes that. And then Swellow...the first Bird Pokemon who really seemed to actually be allowed to kick-ass. He wasn't exactly a deep character or anything, but he actually got to battle and hang out with everyone else! Corphish was great comedy relief (I love the "Hei! Hei!" voice the original has), and did it right before Piplup and Oshawott took it a bit far, and Torkoal was cute, even if he had to fill the role of the team's jobber. And then Snorunt was a really fun last addition, who wrecked shit as Glalie. Awesome team. I was a bit disappointed to see Torkoal and Glalie get dumped in Battle Frontier, but Donphan returning wasn't too bad for me, and Aipom was cute too. But the team within Hoenn was perfect! Oh, and Pikachu actually "evolving" by learning Iron Tail and Volt Tackle was nice.

Sinnoh is arguably Ash's strongest team when you look at the Pokemon statistically, and it didn't hurt Ash was at his MAX here. Now, the biggest issue with the team is for such a long season, Ash already had his full team basically assembled by the 3rd Gym, the only addition after that was Gible for Gligar. But overall, I liked it. Turtwig was probably the weakest link---his capture episode was a repeat of Bulbasaur's, and he didn't have too much going on, but hey, I love the evolution line...too bad he jobbed as Torterra though. Staraptor wasn't as cool as Swellow, imo, but the writers still gave him a decent amount of screentime and, hey, it's Staraptor, the coolest Regional Bird. Buizel never evolved, which is a shame IMO since his personality could've easily been kept since Floatzel is barely different, but he was pretty boss whenever he fought. Chimchar was the heart of the team---the best story, the best development, and who I would consider to be Ash's "main" Sinnoh Pokemon. And then Gliscor---really fun Pokemon, and I was pissed he was dumped for Gible. Gible was the only wasted potential, imo, his plot never went anywhere and he was ultimately pointless---maybe they had foresight though and he'll show up as Mega Garchomp?

Best Wishes SUCKED! I mean, at first, it sounds like a good idea---Ash gets all the Starters again. But hey, Diamond and Pearl gave him two fully evolved ones---maybe he'll finally get all three!? NOPE! Hey, Ash has an extra slot on his team he'll rotate around! We'll never know who he has with him, and that'll lead to more diverse battles and plots? NOPE! Okay, first, the Starters...Tepig did the "Fire Pokemon is abandoned!" stunt again, but while Charmander and Chimchar actually did something with it, Tepig was...tepid. Yeah, we met who abandoned him, but it ultimately amounted to nothing. He was the only Isshu Starter to evolve but you gotta wonder---why? Why keep him in the awkward middle form? And then Charizard came back and, welp, that was it. Snivy got on my nerves---I hate Snivy as it is, but its gimmick of Attract wore off quickly. There was stuff like its rivalry with Emolga that was neat (especially since Best Wishes was horrible at letting the Pokemon really hang out with the other Pokemon in general), but I wasn't a fan. Oshawott was actually cool---you could tell they were going for the Piplup money, but Oshawott basically being a dirty old man made me laugh, and he had potential. I understand them not going all the way to Samurott, but I wish he at least became Dewott since like Buizel, the design isn't that different that you'd need to overhaul the personality. Unfezant was a downgrade from Swellow and Staraptor...then again, Unfezant as a Pokemon was a huge downgrade from both of them. For once I wish they would've let him have one of the other Bird Pokemon, like Braviary would've been cool...or even Mandibuzz to really mix it up. Scraggy was a fun Pokemon, and I knew it'd be popular so Ash getting one didn't surprise me, and while it was fun at first, the writers never let it grow at all....it stayed forever the same. The reserve Pokemon were heavily underutilized, which was a shame because they were all species I liked. Leavanny only got like the Gym Battle against Burgh, and the filler where it evolved. I totally forgot what Boldore ever did, or when it even evolved? Palpitoad was great in its debut as a punk, but lost all that when it was caught and appeared like twice? Krookodile got the most development, but it like the others basically was forgotten about after awhile...it also bugged me how Ash had secondary Water and Grass Pokemon, but no secondary Fire? I guess maybe that became Pignite when Charizard returned, but I always wanted him to get a Heatmor to serve that role.

I think his XY Team is probably in the middle for me right now---but XY had such a small selection it's not surprising that happened, there wasn't a lot of variety. I still hope he gets Bergmite though.

That's a pretty spot on analysis of Ash's team over the years.

It really, really bothered me that Ash had an empty slot during the Kanto years. I was really frustrated that Butterfree left for seemingly no reason when they could've had it learn Psychic attacks to make it different from Pidgeotto. Then you have Kingler and Muk who just stayed at Oak's.

Orange Island was better in a way. I like that they gave Tauros a chance too, and it performed pretty well.

Bulbasaur sticking around for so long seriously hurt Chikorita/Bayleef and I have no idea why the writers were so reluctant to get rid of it. Even worse, that slot could've gone to Heracross. Then you have problems like Pikachu being in EVERY gym battle and Charizard and Snorlax stealing the Johto team's glory in the final gym battle. Man...

Hoenn was definitely the best in how it handled Ash's team. I really loved that Swellow was a beast at stamina, and how Glalie made up for its late arrival by being awesome.

In regards to Sinnoh, I agree with you with the Gliscor and Gible situation. Gible was just annoying, and its Piplup bullying (as annoying as the little shit was) grew tiresome quickly. But the real bone I have to pick with is Turtwig. Turtwig might as well have not evolved considering how good it was. But then you have the evolution episode, where Ash learns how to use a slow defensive Pokemon--and then they make it clear that Ash can't use that type of Pokemon, because all Grotle and Torterra ever do is job, job, JOB.

I won't even touch Best Wishes, because I have issues with all of them. Fuck, I hate Best Wishes.

As for X&Y, the flying type/major electric weakness reminds me of Kanto, haha. I think they chose good members for the team. Kinda sad how Goomy went out but it had a good backstory that was set up really well. It's nice that Sceptile was chosen over Charizard (it seems) but in all honesty I was hoping for Ash to go with tradition and get a grass type like Phantump as his final Pokemon. It doesn't even need to evolve (but since his team is looking pretty fully evolved, might as well).

Mega Evolution opened up the possibility of Ash getting a New Pokemon to fill that role rather than an old one...I always thought Snover w/ M-Abomasnow would've been neat. There was a filler with Snover in Diamond and Pearl, and since that episode I always wanted Ash to get that Pokemon---his Grass-type for XY would've been neat.

For his Mega, I like M-Sceptile, but I was sort of hoping it'd be someone unexpected like M-Heracross.

This game is brutal as hell. I don't remember Explorers or the original games being anywhere near this cruel. My fucking god.

EDIT: Oh so I got to the floor before the final one like five times before I finally did it. Get out game. lol

Man, Cofagrigus is a godsend in this game. 5 Reviver Seeds for 1 Gold Bar (equivalent of 550 coins). Kecleon charges 220 for 1 if it even has it.

I currently have 53 Gold Bars. I'm set.

Oh, that's excellent to know.

Luckily for me I left that last dungeon having picked up 5 Reviver Seeds... And I only used one of them. I then proceeded to save like 5 times because that's some awesome but much-needed luck. lol For reference (major spoilers)
I just learned about Dark Matter.

Near the end of the main story. My level:

Er uh... At least I have like 70 of the heal-everything version of the Reviver Seed! Thank you Cofagrigus. Thank you.
