SPOILER: Columbus finds America
I really hate how he repeats everything twice as if we're too dumb understand his 3rd grade sentences.

Bringing up crowds again.

Trump stopped signing EOs after it became clear that the process they had going was a clusterfuck and that Bannon was not informing him about what he was signing.

Having two right-wing trolls write legal policy with no lawyers reviewing them and with no departments being informed tends to go badly when the president can't read!

I totally assumed Trump was ahead on the executive order count. Obama truly was dictator in chief.
Trump is
Doritos Locos
Dick Tater-Tot

Edit:
Taco Bell should run a promo. I'd eat nacho supreme tater tots with Doritos strips.

Wait so Trump is signing EOs without reading and understand the details and implications? Someone please sneak in an EO stating that he should resign for him to sign.

And his ego prevents him from fixing it after word. He'll just keep telling you the shit Taco he fed you was the best, one of the greatest.

I want to open up a food stand at the next state fair that sells Dick Taters.

When I first had this idea it was before Trump got elected, so they would have been shaped like little penises, but now they could just be Trump's face.

We can call it Dick on a stick.

I'm actually wondering now what Trump's first bill is.

It's kind of amazing, with a GOP trifecta I was expecting this flurry of horrid legislation reaching Trump's desk but it turns out they're just as incompetent when they're in power as when they're out of power.

I wouldn't be surprised if the government shutdown under his watch.

Also going to make a bold prediction: I don't think Obamacare gets repealed. Crippled in some way, possibly, but I think that train has left the station.

Trump has signed 0 bills and 7 executive orders so far.

At this time in his presidency, Obama had signed 7 bills and 15 executive orders.

Low energy. Sad.

It doesn't even look like Trump is going to work with Congress on a lot of stuff and some of his EO look like proclamations; if this keeps up maybe Trump won't be as damaging (not in the short term at least) and a very ineffective president.

Good talking point against Trump in the midterms.

idk if republicans just stall and cause enough confusion insurers will pull out of the marketplace, rates will skyrocket and they will have more public support for repeal

It's amazing. He's immediately spending all of his political capital (what little he had) on this ban. What an idiot.

I imagine Ryan will try and gut entitlements before anything else. He's wanted to do that for years and would have a tiny window to make it happen. If he can't do it before the Fall it won't happen.

His first bill will be "Repealing and Replacing the Job Killing PPACA, Also Known As Obamacare, The Worst!"
It will be three pages long and just rename Obamacare, add tort limits and purchasing across state lines.

That's going to be an extremely hard battle for Ryan to win. AARP is going to rip him to shreds.

I looked it up, Obama got overrode only once - the bill that let families sue Saudi Arabia over 9/11, in September 2016.

W got overrode 4 times.
Bill twice.
Papa Bush once.
Reagan 9 times.

This all makes so little sense. We all thought Paul Ryan and McConnell would've hamfisted all their wet dreams to Trump's desk by now but there's almost no activity. I'd say there might be a strategy to it, but they're all likely just reeling from Trump's disasters.

Democrat opposition energy is at an all time high and people are ready to mass protest at the drop of a pin. They're probably laying low, hoping it cools off.

I don't think it will. Trump's going to just keep doing stupid stuff. The court battle over his dumb ban fiasco is going to eat up tons of time and energy. And keep it in people's minds for a long time.

Protests were becoming too big and Trump is not helping with his stupid posturing.

They might start to realize that Trump is their Obama

Paul Ryan's only other experience with power was when he tried to shove through his doomed and terribly designed Social Security plan through. It never got a vote and helped lead to a Dem Super Majority four years later.

Where do you guys go for your progressive "news and views," so to speak?

I was a pretty moderate liberal until recently but I'm feeling particularly amped and radicalized under Trump. I listen to a lot of Chapo Trap House and follow a lot of politicians I like directly on Twitter. Jason Kander even liked one of my tweets (too bad I live in Maine).

I have no doubt Republicans learned super early on that Trump won't stick it out if a policy reaction goes south and he can avoid the blame. If they say... repeal and Trump is on the hook, he'll 110% split and blame congress saying it wasn't what he promised the country and to fix this shit. No doubt legislation they want passed has been sidelined in fear that bad reactions will prompt Trumpian wrath.

I bet they thought the same thing.

It is likely that they'll wait until the must pass bills and budget bills to pass anything meaningful.

What the fuck is stopping them from impeachment? They get Pence and the protests stop.

Here and twitter, really. I've followed Jake Tapper and my senators. If you're in a red state (EDIT: shoot you said you live in maine right in there) , you can follow mine, Chris Murphy's been pretty cool.

Yeah, it's very possible that he got cold feet on those rumored orders for LGBT discrimination and H-1B Visas because of the muslim ban disaster.

Their constituents. Trump is still loved by his Republican base, the last time I checked. Any Republican that engages in impeachment talks is going to have a crosshair on their back in 2018 or 2020. They don't want to end up like Eric Cantor.

And yes, that means placing party before the country.

Vox has obnoxious headlines but is pretty good for a center-left liberal perspective. I prefer their podcasts to the articles, though.

It's a blog, but ginandtacos.com is pretty interesting and funny commentary from a political science professor in Chicago I think, though uh occasionally he's less sensitive than I'd probably like. He also is pretty good at criticism of liberal centrism if you're into that, especially if you want someone who isn't an actual socialist doing the critique.

If you're looking more into the socialist side of things, Jacobin usually has some pretty good articles, though I think they're often a little too class-focused and occasionally downplay racism. I've been meaning to subscribe to the actual magazine for a while but haven't gotten around to it. They also have a pretty good (and free!) short collection of essays about socialism if you're interested in it as an ideology but have questions because all you've known is liberal capitalism called The ABCs of Socialism.

Pod Save America is a good podcast that's basically Keepin' It 1600 but now under its own brand. If you hadn't listened to it before, it's four former Obama staffers who do commentary and try to help people get involved with activism.

New Republic is pretty good and a decent range from liberal to leftist. I haven't read a whole lot of their stuff though.

For news-y news, I do NPR (mostly when I'm in the car) and WaPo for domestic coverage and BBC/Al Jazeera for international news, though I don't think these are what you're looking for. Hope this helps!

He wrote the bill.

It was the worst written bill of all time and accidentally seized the means of production for laborers by having labor own like 97% of the stock market or shit like that.
Yo but he's a Smart Wonk Conservative with Big Ideas about how to Help People Gain Liberty and definitely isn't a Randian hack that masturbates to poor children starving.

Actually, I remembered this a little wrong, Paul Ryan wrote a Social Security replacement bill and pushed for it hard in 2005, but Dubya went with a less insane bill.

Ryan's bill cost the government trillions in transaction costs and accidentally turned the United States into a Socialist nation while giving no net benefit to anyone just because he didn't want the government to have money... It's somewhat demented.

Most of my news just comes from direct feeds on twitter at this point while subbed to reporters for NYT, WashPo, AP, independent writers. While you generally hear an opinion before anything, they also normally link directly to the story in question so it makes it easy to follow up on things as they hit from various angles.
