But if you really are... all-powerful... all-knowing... then you figure it out! Look into my heart. I know that everything you need is in there. It has to be. I never sold my soul to anyone! Damn it all, I can't think of anything, except those words of his... 'HAPPINESS FOR EVERYBODY, FREE, AND NO ONE WILL GO AWAY UNSATISFIED!'"
Jugendstil said:Just had my first session for my half-sleeve on Saturday. One appointment down, two more to go. I already have a decent amount of tattoos, but this was by far the most intense. The inside of the arm HURTS. Regardless of that, I can't wait for my next session. I'm thinking I might start work on a forearm sleeve when this is finished.
Excuse the photo quality, it was hard to take one by myself...

shouldn't be too bad I hate outlines but shading is a breeze for me. If you get it on the shoulder its gonna hurt a little more still nothing too bad.hadar said:This is quite possibly one of the worst decisions ever, but fuck it.
June 9th I'm going to get this done somewhere around my left shoulder, possibly on the back.

Yes, I do know it's from a game, but the symbol itself and story around it just speaks loads to me. Plus it does look quite awesome!
Oh yes, it's my first tattoo ever, and it's quite on the large side.
This is going to be fun, isn't it? ;(
A quick Google search provided a lot of great tips, but ask your tattoo artist too.Mr. Snrub said:Anyone have a good link to a tattoo FAQ? Was talking with a friend and he said not to get a tattoo if you tanned recently...? Any other little things I should know for pre and post care?

Some rules of thumb for post care:
- Keep contact (with anything) to a minimum on the area where the tattoo is
- Always keep the tattoo moisturized with a moderate (not too thin but not too thick) lotion, but...
- Only dab the moisturizer on; never rub or smear it
- Same goes for soap: lightly dab suds on and gently rinse with warm water
- KEEP IT OUT OF SUNLIGHT
- DO NOT SCRATCH IT

Yeah it sounds strange but I think I'll just keep it wrapped at night as I know I'll sleep-scratch it and keep it open during the dayZeke said:never heard of that. Keeping it wrapped like that sounds bad tho you want it to breathe. I usually keep the cling on for a few hours then take it off. Wash it using the dab method after that I put some lotion on it rinse and reap until healed.

Puzzle pieces for my autistic sister, triple 7s on my arm for my aunt who died (loved the casino), bluejay with a small rose in it's mouth for my grandparents (grandfather loved bluejays, grandmother loved roses) but I need ideas for my next piece.
My mom really likes my tattoos, and said she'd be honored if I got one based around her. Obviously I was going to get something later down the line in honor of her, but I don't mind jumping the gun and getting something this summer.
Here's some things...my mom, like my grandmother, LOVES roses. She is also diabetic and has fibromyalgia. The symbols for diabetes are a blue circle, grey ribbon with a blood drip and the symbols for fibromyalgia are a purple ribbon and purple butterfly.
So I wouldn't mind creating a quarter sleeve out of all this, but I'm really lost on design. It's going to be difficult to get a rose, butterfly to not look feminine.
So right now I'm just looking for ideas on this piece. It's in it's really early stages.

What do people do for showers? They say don't use regular soap to wash it, do I need to change showergel for a couple of days? Also I still will be going to the gym, I guess a quick wash after is advisable

jon bones said:ribs are the fucking worst... i'll post an updated photo of my piece in a few minutes. i'm like 80% done with it but the ribs are so painful. doesn't help that i'm a skinny dude.
andycapps said:I hear that, yeah I don't recommend them at all. The only plus is that after you get that done, anything else is cake. I could honestly get my arms tattooed for probably 6 hours, rather than getting my ribs done for 1 1/2 or 2. Thankfully that rib piece only took my artist 2 hours because he's freaking fast. He's also got a hand like a sledgehammer so it hurts worse. But I'll take the increased pain + shorter time overall.
soundscream said:Pain is one thing but the desire to scratch when the hairs start growing back from where they shave is mind numbing.
Jugendstil said:This... I am really bad at fighting the urge to scratch, and it was ridiculously hard with my chest tattoo because of the hair growing back. I've avoided adding to it because of the itching.
