Would Marvel Rivals be as successful as a F2P game without the Marvel IP?
Of course, very true.

But Bungie do have the value of their name and the status of first party Sony, so they will get the exposure.

My broader point which I made in a cack handed way was that it doesn't matter what model you use if your game is shit. It will bomb. Being free is not an incentive as it still costs the most important currency, being time.

The twitter page which has been updated and is active still says it is coming for Xbox. Not sure why they would scrap that at this point.

yeah seems the Xbox version is still happening, they even reassured you don't need a PSN account on Xbox.

I just haven't kept up with the game in a while so I wondered

Doesn't no PSN Tax requirement indicate F2P then? I'm on PC anyway, but still.

If this is F2P, which it obviously needs to be to stand any chance (despite Bungie's unmatched shooter design credentials), I'll absolutely immerse myself in its release and git gud.

But if it's paid, it's gonna need to be incredible. I'm not paying upfront - for a live service title.

Here's the thing: if this game came with a premium tag - but it included all of the fancy skins (like in the olden days), I'd happily buy it, if it was a good game. But Bungie will fucking rinse players, if they can get away with it. And frankly they probably need to in order to remain solvent. So nah, I pass if it isn't the F2P model, which is still a shitty model but that's how it has turned out with online shooters.
