1. Crimson Desert (if it doesn't get delayed to 2026) => That game will be mind blowing, it has an already brillantly designed map with different biomes, lots of easily recognisable POIs that allow you to locate youself on the map wherever you are, incredible LOD, an INCREDIBLE amount of castles, ruins, towns, villages, even big cities (City of Demeniss at the center of the map). Combat system is inspired from actual VS fighting games (which I'm a fan of), lots of good ideas taken here and there (free fall and powers from Zelda), climbing, some really good ideas from their own like brushwood being hard to traverse, so they can design a path around but not be enterily constrained by it (minor but genius idea in my book).
Still some unknowns but I'm confident this will be GOTY if GTA VI doesn't release in 2025.

2. MGS Delta => Not really hyped because it's a remake with almost no changes aside from graphics and animations remade, and I need confirmation of the online (most fun I had in a MP shooter game), but this one was incredible at the time, so still great to replay.

3. Metroid Prime 4 : Beyond => Not hyped at all. Another iteration of Prime yay... Like we didn't see everything there is to the formula already. But I'm a Metroid fan (I mean my username is inspired from this series) so I'll get it no matter what. But it's really time to get a real 3D 3rd person action/platformer/shooter Metroid that translate perfectly Super Metroid in 3D with all the acrobatics Samus can do. Other M was limited by its fixed camera and limited gameplay (blame Sakamoto for his love for the wiimote, and also scenario), and bad level design and music (blame Team Ninja), so no, it doesn't count as its gameplay roots comes from 2D and don't take any advantage of the possibilities offered by 3D spaces.

4. Oblivion Remake : if it gets announced and released in 2025. My favorite TES. But I really hope they made changes to the game, like entire revision of the progression system (no, I don't want to spend my time jumping around anymore), and the scaling system, and maybe make dungeons more unique. Or at least give us the choice. Still love the ambiance.

5. KCD Deliverance 2 : Curious about this one. Seems really good. I have the first one but still didn't play it.

Honestly there's not a lot of game for me this year, but I'm incredibly hyped for Crimson Desert. And of course I'm waiting for Switch 2 and new Nintendo games which will surely modify that list. Also disapointed in From Soft with NightReign. I guess Namco wanted to milk the cow as much as they could before the end of their partnership.

1. Ghost of Yotei
2. Death Stranding 2
3. Intergalactic: A heretic prophet
4. Farthest frontier( 1.0)
5. Nova Roma

Honorable mentions-
Fable( excited and hope it turns out to be good).
Awowed( personally think it will turn out to be way better than the previews).
Gt7 and Helldivers 2( currently my forever games and if they keep the momentum, will easily be part of my top 10 if not top)

Pretty similar to you OP. In no particular order

Ghost of Yotei
Metroid Prime 4 Beyond
Silksong
3D Mario
Kingdom Come 2

TintoConCasera

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
5. Crimson Desert. I'm not very optimistic but a game that looks like a blend of Dragon's Dogma with other more RPG-y games and has elements of nuZelda and AssCreed sounds like it could be fun.

4. Gears of War E-Day. This series could use a return to form and this looks like the best chance and moment for it to happen. Excited to see it.

3. Metroid Prime 4. Didn't enjoy Echoes as much as the first one and haven't even played 3 but I dunno, I'm optimistic about this one. With all time in the oven I hope they are ready to deliver something very good.

2. Kingdom Come Deliverance II. I enjoyed the first game much more than I thought I was going to, and this one seems to be even better so yeah, really excited.

1. Metroid Prime 4 - First trailer didn't look mindblowing, but after the Metroid Prime Remake, it seems Retro Studios is one of the last Nintendo devs staying true to their roots.
2. Metal Gear Solid Delta - I don't like the new art direction, but similar to remakes like Demon's Souls, the improvements to the controls could easily make this my go-to version of MGS3.

I want to enjoy the following games, really, but they need to tone down the handholding compared to their predecessors, because I'm getting really allergic to shit like yellow paint, magic GPS, god modes, mandatory tutorial videos, etc., I'm not holding my breath, but I'd love to be proven wrong...

3. Doom Dark Ages - looks great, but Eternal dropped the ball with all the handholding and cluttered UI, which was the complete opposite of Doom 2016. Go back to 2016, please!
4. Monster Hunter Wilds - all the monsters and locales look sick. But they've been dumbing Monster Hunter down for a while... in the demo you didn't even need to search for a monster anymore. Hopefully you can still find a core game experience in this title...

5. New Mario game - maybe? If it's innovative like the Odysseys and Galaxies and Yoshi's Islands, I'm in. If it's a safe sequel like Mario 3D World or New Super Mario Bros. #10, I will be sorely disappointed.

Hmm.. Maybe;

Hellblade 2
Mario Kart 9
Please Please Cat GIF by Guldhart
Hades 2
The Plucky Squire
Holy moly that was bad on my part. Only two games came out, and while I still need to play The Plucky Squire it didn’t seem to match expectations. Hellblade 2 is probably the worst/my least favorite game I played in 2024.

Well.. Here we go again:

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Silksong
Mario Kart 9
Hades 2
Next 3D Mario

I would say something smart, but considering 71% of my games I played in 2024 were released later than 8 years ago...I don't think it will matter.

  1. Metroid Prime 4
  2. Split Fiction - Will play with my oldest son.
  3. Outer Worlds 2
  4. GTA 6
  5. New 3D Mario?
Nothing on PS5? Ghosts of Tsushima was OK when I had PS+X, not going to pay 70 bucks for a similar experience.

Fable and GTA VI, but I don’t expect either to make 2025.

So:
Mafia
Crimson Desert
Light No Fire
Resident Evil 9
Kingdom Come 2

FF Rebirth PC
MGS3, which I’ve never played
3D Mario
Doom Dark Ages
No Rest For the Wicked

Indies may get in there but those are impossible to predict this early.

This is such a nice idea. So far, this should be my top 5, but I fully expect most of these to be replaced by some newly announced games. Not number 1, tho. That one I'm sure will be locked in.

1. New 3D Mario
2. Metroid Prima 4
3. Dragon Quest XII
4. Hollow Knight Silksong
5. Judas

I also expect to play Mario Kart 9 more than anything this year, and to love the remakes for the Lunar and Suikoden games.

Slay the Spire 2.
GTA 6.
Subnautica 2.
FF9 remake.
Avowed.

If Switch 2 comes out with a new mainline 3D Mario game, that should replace Avowed OR FF9 remake if FF9 remake doesn't come out.

-Phantom Blade Zero
-Garou City of the Wolves
-Phantom Breaker Battlegrounds Ultimate
-New Sonic (Shadow) Racing game teased
-Doom DA

And all RGGS release...

I'm pc only so I'll take a stab at.

Kingdom Come Deliverance II
Doom The Dark Ages
Borderlands 4
Atomfall
Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii

-DOOM: The Dark Ages
It's not gonna be as pitch perfect as Doom 2016, but I have good hopes it'll end up much better than eternal.

-Death Stranding 2
It's gonna be completely senseless again, but it'll be good entertainment nonetheless.

-Mario 3D for Switch 2
I have a feeling the new Mario game is gonna be a banger. There's a small chance they decide to feature Donkey Kong instead, it'll still count.

-Resident Evil 9
If it makes it to 2025, it's a no brainer that it's gonna be a great game. Capcom never misses.

-Metroid Prime 4
It looks like this game is poised to take a lot after MP1, which is the perfect approach.

-Stellar Blade and FF7 Rebirth on Steam
I'm excited to finally play those.

Wild cards:
-HL3
-FF9 Remake
-Pragmata
-Exodus
-Expedition 33
-Agent 64
-Code Veronica Remake
-Perfect Dark
-Trails in the Sky Remake
-Dragon Quest 12
-Virtua Fighter 6
-Crimsom Desert

Bonus predictions:
GTA 6 is a 2026 game.
Avowed and AC Shadows are gonna crash and burn spectacularly. It'll be very entertaining to watch.
Fable will get either canceled or its direction completely rethought, with a delay.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is gonna be mighty fine game, but I fear I'll never get into the gameplay.

efyu_lemonardo

May I have a cookie?
The next 3D Mario
Doom: The Dark Ages
GTA 6
New Nintendo IP
Unknown Indie Breakout Hit

Bonus: Half Life 3, if rumors are true.

That's funny, i look at the 2024 thread and i didn't even buy the games i put in my top 5 for the most part. I'll buy them eventually but i'm not that eager to play new games.

Alright, let's say :

Doom
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
GTA 6
Metroid Prime 4
Clair Obscur

i tried to put games i'm pretty sure i will play this year. Monster Hunter Wilds i might wait.

I'm kind of meh on games for this year but my top few are

The Expedition 33
Khazan
xenoblade chronicls x( I originally had this game but never finished it so I've been waiting for the rerelease)

Someone mentioned a new Dragonquest game that isn't a remake and that would get me the most excited.

Honorable mentions would be
Virtua Fighter 6 cause I liked playing those games in the arcade
FF9 but I just don't know what they are doing exactly with this game but I really like FF9.
maybe onimusha but that trailer did not get me hype for the game
I'd love a Devil may cry game.
