PS5 Pro Best Buy Listing (mentions 4K using PSSR at 60fps-120fps with RT all at the same time for compatible titles)

Reading the Best Buy PS5 Pro listing I noticed this.

Play at 60fps, or up to 120fps, with 4K Output and Ray Tracing for Compatible Games
With the power of the PS5 Pro, compatible games can be played at 60fps, or up to 120fps, with Ray Tracing and AI enhanced 4K resolution using PSSR— all at the same time—on your 4K TV.
I've never heard this mentioned before.

It's also says this
Enhanced Image Quality for PS4 Games
Turn on the Enhanced Image Quality for PS4 games feature to enable additional system post processing power that can improve the resolution for select PS4 games.

Should be doable, obviously using PSSR and very limited RT effects. Something lik RE Village or Doom Eternal could potentially do it.

Will the PS5 Pro improve even the non-compatible PS5 games in loading, frame rate, or graphics in some ways? If not then I'll wait.

Yes. We don't know if it's with a patch or not yet.

But it sounds like some things needs to be patched, but other enhancements don't.

GT7 comes to mind.
I’m not sure about that one, 60fps is already dropping to 1188p->4k to keep the RT reflections. GT7 reflections have a very high roughness cutoff and trace the entire scene with no reduced geometry, hence they are computationally very expensive. I suppose if they downgrade the roughness cutoff and trace a simpler scene in the reflections it should be possible.

Sounds like a boost mode can be applied to non-patched games and also upscaling? to enhance image quality of PS4 games

IIRC boost mode on PS4 Pro basically just brings it up to the fps cap.

It would be nice to nice to see some examples of this. Maybe DF will get more direct footage soon?....

That's PSSR with RT acting accordingly. Exactly what DLSS with RT does from lower resolutions to 4K.

I'm pretty sure the demo they showed CNET was 8k 60fps.

If so, 4K (using PSSR) at 60fps with RT seems in the cards for GT7.

Honestly, I'm more interested in what it can do for GT7 VR more than anything.

Oh yes, RT at 60fps is already confirmed. Just not sure how feasible RT + 120fps would be without some downgrades to the RT quality.

I can't believe PS fans are this naive. They will eat all the PR bullshit.

We already know 1440p, 1080p and even 840p games WITHOUT any RT on Pro. Good luck with 120fps on 2019 CPU.
I mean, it's just going to run those PS4 games at "120" mode that the PS5 does now. But more consistently.

It's a good thing they've never misrepresented the abilities of a Pro console before so we have no reason to worry.

How is GT7 for a casual player btw? It seems like a very grind-heavy f2p title at this point. I remember seeing looooads of DLC for GT7, years ago. How does the game hold up these days? I'm tempted to give it another go when I get the pro...

Regarding that DLC, I might be confusing GT7 with Horizon...

Don't worry, he'll be back with some other fabricated reasons to be upset. For someone on their pc gaming high horse it really seems like they don't have much better to do than talk shit about consoles

Rainbow Six Siege already does 120FPS on the PS5.

I was being sarcastic. They did misrepresent the abilities of Pro. They even changed the box!

I think some PC people are acting unnecessarily threatened yes. Do I meet this Best Buy thing with skepticism, also yes.

Doesn’t really seem like anything new. Unless they are going to claim a game isn’t compatible unless the devs guarantee 60FPS then it’s just marketing you can’t fully trust.
