When it’s lying there dormant or in action?
When it’s idle on the dashboard it’s pretty much silent for me. I held the phone 5cm from the console with a noise measuring app and it said ~33 dB powered off, that’s the room background noise which is mostly coming from an aquarium. I could then possibly read an increase to ~34 dB when I powered it on but there was fluctuations so could just be variations on room noise. It’s very silent. And no coil whine! When it’s lying there dormant or in action?
How far do you sit from the pro? Can you hear the fan if you get close?Been playing loads of different games now since launch. And thankfully I've not heard mine once in all that time. For me its just like my OG. No coil whine either.
Yeah I found that a bit odd it just stays the same speed regardless of the game.I noticed my fan always doing the same speed/sound.
I can play a PS4 game, PS5 or even Pro enhanced or right now a PSP game from PS Plus Premium lol. It's always the same.
There might come an update maybe for this or I will check in a couple weeks/months if I can replace the fan and get one of those "quiet" ones, lol.
Sure, but I have to move my head right up to it - say maybe 0.5m. I'm sat 2m away. How far do you sit from the pro? Can you hear the fan if you get close?
If you are not playing a disc game, just remove any disc in the drive. It reads the disc constantly and vibrates a lot. Og ps5 is the same.It was silent for me... until I picked up the disc drive for it. Now it won't shut the fuck up.
Thanks, I have now done that. It's just annoying because it should check the disc once when it powers on, and then when I load a game that the PS5 knows is a disc version so it can verify the correct disc is inserted. It doesn't need to spin up the entire time that it's turned on.If you are not playing a disc game, just remove any disc in the drive. It reads the disc constantly and vibrates a lot. You're the second person who has mentioned this and I can say it doesn't happen to mine. It's will spin when powered on and, if you don't start the game immediately or are not in standby, it will spin when the game is started. Other than a quick buzz every once in a while there's no disc noise. At least it's something they can patch out like they did after the original launchedThanks, I have now done that. My problem is not the slight coil whine but the fan that is loud to my ears...I definitely have a slight coil whine
