Sony created a weird situation cause i haven't pre-ordered this since i can't buy a disco unit. Like...what's the point? At least make more of those. I got plenty of games for PS5 with physical copies and now i can't play them if i buy a pro?

Argos seem to be not doing the delivery themselves rather relying on a supplier, so that kinda muddies things as you have no accurate tracking.

I'm starting to agree with people who were saying that sony are purposely not supplying enough disc drives to drive up digital adoption.
Sony had a month head start to sort this out since the pro announcement and the disc drive isn't something that is exactly hard to produce and there isn't component storage.

Same here. Disc units aren't available.
I usually go with worten or fnac for these pre orders but the only disc unit i saw was going for 600€ from a third party seller.

HDMI chip didn't change, apparently, so I wouldn't bet on 48Gbps. I'll double check that teardown video.
edit: they say it's the same Nuvoton IC found on the Slim and "some" O.G. PS5. Nuvoton acquired the semiconductors part from Panasonic in 2020, and some ICs on the OGs are Panasonic branded, but the part number is the same on both Nuvoton and Panasonic.

Still no movement on my Amazon preorder from the arrives on November 11th estimate. I'll give it until tomorrow night to update to arriving on the 7th or just cancel it and keep my Best Buy in store pick up preorder despite having some Amazon Vias credit put toward the Amazon order (and earning 5% back on the balance).

Yea once I saw it was avaliable everywhere so readily I just canceled my direct. I'd rather not it sit outside while I wait for my wife to decide to open the door and grab it.

I'll be at home on Thursday, so didn't have that issues, so would have stuck with the Amazon one if I was confident the delivery would update to the 7th. But still nice to just be able to go pick it up vs. waiting for whatever time it got delivered as well (often mid to late afternoon for me with Amazon stuff unless it's an early morning next day delivery order).

Sony must really trust that it will only take 2 days for this thing to get here, but come on man, don't leave me hanging this late.
They sent me an email saying to prepare for shipment a few days ago, when I check it is still waiting for shipment and arriving on the proper date, but nothing is happening yet that I can tell on my end. No card charge, no followup email, neurosis spiking.

Was going to go GT7 but I think the patch won't be ready tomorrow so either stellar blade or RotR. Probably sb because it's much shorter

- Resident Evil 4 Remake (to see how it looks/runs with everything turned on)
- See if Space Marine 2 is less of a shit-show framerate wise even without a Pro patch

Nice, I might get stellar blade also. That and Astro bot are the only ps5 games I am interested in at the moment. But I don't think Astro bot has a ps5 pro patch.
Been debating on doing another play through of last of us part 2 but I think I will wait until its out on PC.

Talking about TLOU2, I still haven't upgraded to the PS5 version since I found it to be pretty much flawless framerate and IQ wise on my PS5 - does the PS5 version in conjunction with Pro patch offer anything substantial ?

Honestly, if you're already spending $700 (or whatever the equivalent is in your country if not the US) then what's another $10 at this point for the best possible version. Maybe I'm the only idiot who throws that kind of logic around though. At this point I spend more on a coffee and a bagel if I go out in the morning.

Those clip stands in the box are only for horizontal though, does the stand actually work horizontally like the one packaged in with the base because if so I would order one, and just additionally there are two of the clip stands included with the disk drive so I assume with that attached it will be 4 instead of the two without the drive.

I initially planned to place it horizontally, but I have plenty of space to orientate it vertically, so I'll just do that instead. I believe the stand is only compatible vertically.
