Resident Evil 2 Remake |OT| Party like it's 1998

If you go on r/residentevil, the entire thing is Mr.X memes.

The only time I hated Mr.X was when you enter the west side film room with the clover key. It's not considered a true dead end because there's 2 exits, but you only get one of the keys, so you get a train of zombies, a licker that you already alerted and Mr X. Somehow I made it out first try without fighting much.

I've never seen Mr X in that hallway myself. Irons office is the "safe room" there. I know he can use the wall between
the interrogation hall and the press room
, but personally I've never had it happen. He followed you up the ladder, then went downstairs to the interrogation hall while you were in the safe room I think. I wondered who was causing the sound of a door not opening then bursting open, so the door above the ladder might be a one-time, "Mr X takes a minute to open this" even because of players who run back there?

so research and statistics have proven that most players choose leon as the starting character and i just want to understand why .

I went with Claire to be edgy, but really it's because ClaireA/LeonB was the intended order in RE2 as far as I remember. I don't think I've ever done LeonA/ClaireB....

so research and statistics have shown that most players choose leon as the starting character and i curious why that is . is it because subconsciously (male) players think a female character is weaker and cant survive against zombies because she cant fight and / or cant do the quests or it will be more diffiicult to solve the puzzles with her because they think women are stupid etc?. i more and more begin to understand the claims of misogyny in the gaming world...

Was this meant for Era ?

They'll lap this shit up over there.

Or maybe they want to save the best for last?

Leon is considered the main character of the game and is probably the most recognizable character in the series outside Chris.

You didn't even stop maybe even consider that post might be insane?

No its because most Resident Evil fans that played the original inserted Disc 1 first
Hence for most people Leon A Claire B
On top of that Leon story is the first option on the main screen so first instinct would be to play the top option.
Also are you saying girls don't play games because technically those statistics show girls choose Leon too.
I actually went for Claire because she my favourite but later decided to go Leon because that's how I originally played it.
Also route b is harder
So please get the fuck out of here with that shit

Or it's because Leon is the first choice on the selection screen, people generally assume the first on a list is the first you should play by order and statically people only play a game once or don't even finish a game once.

This is a fantastic satire of the Regressive Left in gaming. Thank you for the good laugh.

I was a huge fan of RE2 Leon so I opted not to pick him first since constantly comparing new Leon to him was going to sour my first impressions. I also hated Claire in the original so I wanted to see if they could rehab the character into something worthwhile.

This is one of the hardest parts of the game to do well (clover key west as Leon), I passed it first time somehow with a lot of luck, but this time no luck. There's a licker spawned and MrX is always going to follow you the whole way into the dead end. Need to dispose of the licker I think unless you get some major luck.

I was liking the game, gorgeous graphics and art, the puzzles are back, even stronger than REVII. "I can't ask more than this in 2019" I thought.

Got to the first boss. Shoot him a lot, picked some ammo, shoot him some more. "Let's pick more ammo". Couldn't find. "Ok, where is the ammo spawn?"

You know, every AAA game spawns unlimited ammo in bosses to prevent players to get stuck, so I tried to search a little more. Nothing. And this is were my jaw hitted the floor. This game has the audacity to expect me to manage my resources like it was one of my beloved PSX games? I need to go to a previous save and if I didn't have enough resources in my save I need to play from the begining?! And I wasn't particularly trigger happy before facing him!

I tried a second time with very careful aiming and could defeated the boss, but with only 1 pistol bullet in my magazine after the fight. Resource management is even more important than the original game.

This is a true Resident Evil, not a wannabe. Damn, I'm happy.

Pretty easy for me, I just so happened to place nearly every board i found on windows in that corridor and before I went there I gave X a massive runaround on the other wing so i had time before he arrived. Inside the room dodging him isn't too hard.

Faced my first licker, bastard hit me as I didn't know what to expect but I downed him pretty fast.

The HDR is broken on my PS4 pro, OLED B8. Every time the flashlight is on the whole screen goes grey and washed out. I turned the brightness down on the t.v (which I shouldn't have to do as it's calibrated correctly) and omg what a difference.

First Red Dead and now this. Best playing with HDR off for now I think.

Haven't picked up most boards because no space but I've figured out what to do! Excellent game design.

Playing as Leon; You can go to the area and dispose of the licker before activating Mr.X
Playing as Claire; Mr.X will be activated but you have the acid rounds to get rid of the lickers easily, and Claire uses the other door anyway.

I'm not sure how effective grenades are as self defence items against lickers but I would guess you could trigger it and remove it that way. I see this being the "murder hall" for beating the game with speed, as far as Leon is concerned.

Playing this right now and it´s great. True to the original and spooky as hell. I can´t remember when I was this scared by a game. But I have one question. Where is the classic music from the R.P.D precinct? Don´t tell me Capcom stripped it so that they could sell the original soundtrack as fucking DLC?

Don't worry, most of the classic OST isn't actually in the classic OST swap, either.

I wonder, has anyone found notable differences between the acid and flame rounds for Claire's grenade launcher?

So far I'm rolling with the assumption that flame is better since you can't craft it- seems more powerful against everything I've tried it against, lickers included.

Yup, that's part of the deluxe edition Adds a lot to the game, too.

Really? I just finished up Claire A and the only area I noticed that didn't have a classic tune was the greenhouse room.

Then where is it? I was disappointed when I didn´t hear that familiar piano tune when I entered the precinct. It´s the only thing missing from this game being a perfect remake (so far that is, I´ve just arrived at the garage). Capcom is known for pulling cheap shit but I didn´t think they were gonna do it on a marquee title as big and famous as RE 2.

I fucking knew it. Capcom can be some bonafide assholes. Now I regret once again, buying a day 1 copy.

A guy i this thread said that. Main hall is there, so is the library but apparently there's no music in the halls. I got the DLC with my LE but I've yet to do it.

The game is going for silent ambience for effect.

What? Who cares? It´s a remake so the music from the original should be in the fucking game, especially when it´s such a famous tune as R.P.D precinct. It created a very special atmosphere which is a big part of RE 2. The "silent ambience for effect" can be applied in every other part of the game but the precinct is off limits for bullshit shenanigans like this, especially if you strip it just so you can sell it as DLC. Seriously, this shit completely ruined the game for me.

Man, I'm watching a Twitch stream of someone playing Standard difficulty and zombies are going down in three hits. I'm jealous lol
That on top of the autosaves just convinces me it was tuned for game journalists. RE7 was fairly difficult on normal, not sure why they made the default difficulty on this so easy in comparison.

And if you listen closely, you just might hear some notes from the classic soundtrack in certain areas. Most notably, the save rooms.

Also I bought the classic ost.. only 2.99 cant blame them fuck it
Honestly it's probably the best piece of small DLC I've ever purchased. The announcer in the main menu was worth it alone lol

Don´t support this shit. It´s bullshit and it ruins the industry. You shouldn´t have to pay extra for the music that should be included in the game. Soon we will be paying extra for the beginning and the end.

First time you enter the hall it does play this:

It only plays like, once but it is a new arrangement of the classic song.

3 hits on standard? Not my experience with standard.

You got me. I just hate women.

Finished Leon's campaign today and immediately started Claire's. I'm not one to bitch about today's handholding in games but playing a proper survival horror game was a breath of fresh air, and I really needed some handcrafted loveletter to gaming's past after the infinite amount of open-world games. I enjoyed it thoroughly, even Mr. X. I think they found the perfect balance with him, he was not a pain in the ass but at the same time presented a constant terror that fits this type of games. The wait was worth it, Capcom stayed true to the original game, and it was a blast to play with the original OST. I hope they are already working on RE3 and then will do CV as well. I can't wait to continue playing next weekend.

Just relating what I'm seeing, man. Not all of them go down on 3 but that seems to be the average. Also, zombies stagger off of a single headshot. Hardcore zombies can tank several hits before staggering, it's crazy.

I hate to continue harping on the difficulty but it really seems to me like there should have been a difficulty between Standard and Hardcore, because there is a wide gulf between the two.

Yeah, something closer to standard but with ink ribbons would have been cool.

The game doesn't tell you that you need to hold down to run faster during the crocodile sequence. It fucked my brain up because the controls are inverted and there's no feeling of running faster when you're holding down. I guess this is a PC related issue, to hit the diagonals you need to be holding down+left or down+right. Holding left or right by itself makes Leon bank hard and you go too slow to outrun Mr Crocodile. I failed for about 20 minutes before I figured this out....

So my three save points for S+ would be entering the sewers, inserting the plugs and then somewhere far into the lab to be safe. Might want to do a resource gather trip before the lab just to be safe. Can definitely be done in under 3 hours.

The game adds deaths to your game time if you select Continue or Load after dying. You need to quit to main menu and load game to remove the added time. I guess it's made this way for speedruns where the player dies, to keep an accurate in-game timer.

It's really not that big of a deal. They didn't have to include the OST at all. I'm glad I paid the extra $10 for it. I didn't care about the costumes, just wanted the OST.

Murder hall 2; acquiring the plugs. This is going to be the speedrun killer because you can cheese it with luck... Really difficult to squeeze those narrow paths. The game practically tells you to use your heavy artillery by handing you best gun ammo twice before it and giving you
access back to the police station with the key right before it in the same room

The Tofu Survivor is the bonus mode that keeps on giving, damn.
Just finished it as Konjak (fuck that last room! you need so much route optimization to keep the grenades that long!) and unlocked Flan (Heavy Weapons) and Anin Tofu (SAA and Herbs). This is amazing.

I believe he came back saying that was a bug from switching it mid-game.

Arrive at the lab. Ada gave me the bracelet, however my inventory was full. Could not discard anything. The game procedes and you don't get the bracelet lol. Had to load previous save.

Any thing had the same problem?

Damn deluxe edition is sold out everywhere! But I'm happy for this as it means we should be getting more experiences like this. My wish is a remake of RE4, or jump straight in to RE8 with this same formula. Keep it TPS as well please capcom.

Potential bug I encountered was mixing Large gunpowder with the yellow creams. Sometimes it only gives 5 shotgun shells instead of 6. Might be intended.

Mr X is such a pain in the ass. Chasing me all around the police house in the best Haunted Ground-fashion is nervewrecking. But it kinda ruins the exploration part because I´m getting so stressed just hearing his big ass foot stomps all over the place. Also, except for making a hell of an entry, I don´t really know if I like him being introduced so early in the game. Capcom is treading on some thin ice here in regards to such an iconic character.

Thoroughly enjoying the game! It's basically everything I wanted it to be. Though, if I'm being honest, I find stuff like Mr. X to be less enjoyable than most - the regenerator in Dead Space is my least favourite section of that game for similar reasons - but I'm still enjoying the experience. They've woven a fine balance with the resources - I never have too much, and always feel like I'm one zombie away from ruin. And boy, those visuals. Top notch.

I´m basically fucked. In danger zone with no health sprays or herbs, Mr X on my tail like flies on shit, 5 bullets in the clip in my gun and no clue where to go. To say I´m rusty when it comes to survival horror is an understatement. I suck so bad at aiming and have wasted so much ammo it´s not even funny. Those damn zombies just bobbing their heads like a headbanger makes it hard to shoot em in the face. Didn´t think Capcom would have the balls to actually go back to 1998 in terms of gameplay.

Can someone please point towards a couple of things without too much spoilers? I´m looking for generator parts to open a door in the garage and I have found some parts that I connected but it doesn´t work. I think I need a circuit board or a panel to complete the task.
