Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Well its under there tenure ship. For me Resistance especially R1 and R2 are OG PS franchise. And it sold millions and won allot of fans.
They didn't sell that great and this was turned down when the likes of TLOU and Days Gone were still in development, so it was a decision of previous leadership.

Honestly, Resistance never really found its footing because it was never a consistent series. 3 main games that, aside from all 3 being in FPS perspective, played very differently.

I'm thinking if they really want to bring it back, either reboot the whole thing, or make a follow-up that isn't a linear shooter.

What a shame.

The first game is the most fun i’ve ever had online on a shooter.

Whilst the third game has one of the best campaigns of any shooter.

This really could have been something special.

This! The first one had a unique spin on it being an Alien Invasion set in parts of England, the second game was like some Retro 50's America, I can't even remember what the third was about aside from it being during the 3D phase of the PS3.

The worst part about Sony is basically they want you to forget their old ips. I've seen this since PS2 days, it's not easy if you're a fan.

You couldn't be more wrong if you was a winner at a being wrong contest consisting of one participant

Infact, you've just bent space and time with utter wrongness.
I didn't last more than 15 minutes before I quit. So let me bend it even more. It was caca!

Saying 2 is the worst Resistence is pretty close to saying 2 is the worst Uncharted IMO, ridiculous.

Didn't even play the other ones. But if you are saying 2 is the best, I'm glad Sony killed the franchise! Lol.

I get that, I do. But it was a game you had to let sink in, like MAG

it looked shit, hell it played pretty shit, but it was there, man. It was there!

Some games are just inherently shitgood.

Xbox and 360 were my main consoles from about '03-'08. I got a PS3 in early '09 and borrowed Resistance from a friend. Coming from Halo, it was laughably bad and dumb. Killzone 2 was less bad and dumb, and it looked pretty, so it at least had some things going for it. But Resistance - woof...

I think I played 2 out of boredom at one point. I know I played 3 but don't remember anything about it. I even picked up Resistance: Burning Skies used trying to find something good on the Vita. Nope.

Well hopefully with the new management and shift back to SP exclusives, we might see comeback of some legendary PS franchise. But I hope that the head quarters be back in Japan not in a woke infested California office.

"New Japanese CEO and headquarters back in Japan will give us the comeback of legendary PS franchise, the California-developed Resistance series!"

I bought Resistance 1 because I was desperate for PS3 games. It was a bit better than I expected, but I wasn't expecting much.

I bought Resistance 2 because why the hell not? R1 was a reasonably good time. I thought R2 was clearly a step down from the first one.

I bought Resistance 3 because I heard it was a lot better than R2. I remember pretty much nothing about it. I don't remember liking it, I don't remember hating it. I remember nothing except the box art.

Assuming that they had anything to do with that decision (most likely not), how is that a failure?
Edit: forget everything I said, comparing them to USAID is way, WAY more stupid.
Well that is just a joke. Off topic: Nothing can compare to USAID fiasco issue is very serious and a big crime. For me its such a waste of money on some twisted causes.

There were 4 R&C games on PS2 vs. 3 Spyro games on PS1. Spyro trilogy did sell better than the Ratchet trilogy, it's just Deadlocked that helped R&C overtake it in the end.
True, but the fact that it sold close when Spyro was a defacto PS1 title is impressive.

Another passion project killed off by corporate greed. Insomniac could have achieved their masterpiece. Instead, they will be making deaf chick simulators till PS7.

The main problem is that the main series is only on PS3 and that was years ago, remasters would be required first. Besides if Sony doesn't want to touch Killzone IP anymore, they sure as hell not going to touch Resistance.

The weapons in the Resistance games were neat...but I would pass on everything else.

What I would take is another Killzone game, but add Resistance's guns to that world.

Killzone, Haze, Resistance ...

Master Chief Game GIF by Halo

You're not wrong and yet, look at the state of Halo nowadays - it's almost irrelevant at this point , even more so compared to what both the Killzone and Resistance franchises were at the time...

How times change man, Halo used to be a behemoth but now, all that remains are the Craig memes, kinda sad if you think about it...
(Halo 3 is still the best one)

The first two games sold because they were Sony's best answer to Halo. Then CoD came along and the entire "Halo killer first person shooter exclusive" concept died and never came back.

Which is a shame for Resistance 3, because it was awesome but came out at a time where nobody cared about a sci-fi first person shooter.

Bringing that franchise back now (just don't spend 300m or whatever) would probably be a good move for Sony. Focus on the horror-lite elements, get the atmosphere right and with modern graphics I think a new Resistance game could do well.

Because the Japanese head can decide better that is what I mean. Studios can stay but the head will always have the final approval.

I didn’t buy Resistance 3 because Resistance 2 was garbage.

My very vague memory of Resistance 2 is that I found it OK, but nowhere near as fun as Gears 2.

I only played Resistance 3 a year or two after release because my cousin wouldn't shut up about it. Back in those glorious days when you could borrow a game.

It just comes off as weird fetishization over Japan (something I've noticed a lot on your posts). And either way, Resistance is a SIE America produced series, Japan has literally nothing to do with it.

Yeah, I should clarify that I didn’t play it until later when my purchase didn’t matter.
