Robocop: Rogue City | Review Thread

I've played the first few hours of it this weekend, and I'm really enjoying it. It's like a FPS from about 2006 with some (but not too many!) updated visuals. Slow moving speed, brain dead enemies, 'splosions, simplistic combat and upgrading, bizarre ragdolling. Plus just a regular story with no lecturing. Love it even when it's being annoying (this game should not have sniping). I rewatched the movie Friday night, too, and it's absolutely faithful in spirit to the original.

This mod replaces the Auto9 shot sound with a more movie accurate one.

great game so far. I must be nearing the end. They really did a great job with the license and source material. I love just walking around and looking at the city and police station and listening to what NPCs say. Teyon is a very talented developer. Can't wait to see what they do next.

Wrapped it up. Pretty satisfying game. The first ED209 battle kicked my ass so hard, I wimped out and switched to easy for that battle. The second ED209 I was able to find an area it could not reach me and I just slowly wore it down. The last battle, it did not move towards me, so I was able to just hide around a corner in between rocket attacks. Towards the end of the game, I finally put some points towards armor. That seemed to help quite a lot.

Interesting to note that Teyon is a Polish Studio. A lot of good games come out of Poland.

I cheesed the first boss fight by using the big pillar as cover and making the boss pretty much stuck in one place. During later boss fights Robo was already op and I didn't even break a sweat.

The difficulty level is quite low overall. I only died outside of traditional combat when trying to defuse the bomb and when dealing with enemies in the room with the exploding barrels you're not allowed to hit.

Truth, this is the version I'm buying as I got my sister a PS5 Slim for Christmas and she likes these types of games.

I hope this did good enough for them to do another game and to expand the city.

I'm about 3 hrs in and it's pretty good I like the gun play, it's satisfying movement is slow but I mean realistic he is a robot lol. Definitely worth a play

Just got this on sale for Xbox, what's the best setting quality or performance? I read the framerate wasn't very good for performance mode?

Why not just try out both and see which one you feel most comfortable with? What someone thinks is a shit framerate you could find totally tolerable.

I just finished the game the other day. Played it in performance mode and it still looked great, even had raytracing in perf mode.

I've been playing it off and on since it was on sale (last month?).
Some parts are plodding and a little dated.

I had a question, is there any reason to pick up another gun? I've been using the standard RoboCop gun and it seems to work great.

Usually just the pistol and a shotgun for the corridors

I feel like the micro SMG and AK pull off headshots easier but it might just be me. And besides, once you can full auto the pistol its game over for everyone lol

Don't buy on PS5. Game drops to 20s and 10s during combat all the time.

It's HORRIBLE.
Can you fly, Bobby?

Did they break the game with updates or something? Game performed flawlessly for me at launch on PS5, for a hundred hours and 100% completition.

PS5 version notoriously had the pixelated glitch happening on some camera cuts, that everyone and their mother complained about and that as far as I know is still there, but it also had much better visual settings than Series X. At least at launch, no idea now.

Drops during some sections were common on every platform including PC, nothing exclusive to PS5 so it would be a shame if they somehow messed up the game.

I'm playing it on PS5 right now.
So far to me it feels in line with the digital foundry video, runs at around 40-60fps depending on the area and what is happening on screen. There was only one sequence where you are at a concert and there's a ton of NPCs running around where it tanked down to 30 or maybe lower for a few seconds.

That said I think the heavier action sequences that really tank the framerate are later on, I'm fairly early in the game still (the concert part was the last thing I played last night).

Also yeah the weird pixelated glitch with camera cuts is still there and rather distracting.

Fun game though, overall. The sidequests in particular have been surprisingly enjoyable, they almost feel a bit Yakuza-like in how silly they can get.

I tried on ps plus almost two hours. I don't like unreal engine textures loading late. I'm not playing any game that has that issue. The characters besides Murphy looks ugly has fuck. And the side activities are rubbish.

The updates broke the game on PS5. Countless Reddit threads on this topic. I have a LG C2 and run the game with VRR, yet everytime shooting is involved the game is like total 20- 40fps garbage. And no, this isn't only later on. It's almost all the time. My PS5 is just fine btw.

This game has such terrible performance that I wanted to ask for a refund. It's absolutely unacceptable. It's horrible and disgusting and sickening.

The game went from a solid 7 to a easy 3 out of 10. Dreadful experience. It's utter shite.

Ok so after playing some more on PS5 there definitely seems to be some weird performance bug. Sometimes the FPS will tank and then it just won't recover.

I just played the sequence where they first introduce the snipers and it was literally running at like 10fps (it was so bad the game actually ran faster when activating the slow mo lol).
I restarted the checkpoint and then suddenly it ran perfectly fine...until an enemy got close and I grabbed him which made the FPS drop down to what felt like 30 fps and again just refused to go back to normal.

After restarting the checkpoint yet again I could finally play through the whole sequence at what felt like 50-60fps.

Its really annoying though as the checkpoints can often be far apart (which I wouldn't mind if I died...but no when I have to restart because the game starts running like crap)

It's a cool broken weird game. Fun to play tho! Skipped all the dialogue and cutscenes. It's a pretty and mindless shooter. Reminded me of weird old games from the 2010s.
