AMD is going to bring 5070ti performance, and people going to turn their noses up when it's more than $500. Then cry about how there's no competition.
Nvidia's software is just too enticing. I'm sticking to my old arse 3080 thanks to DLSS4. This generation disappointed me more than my son.AMD is going to bring 5070ti performance, and people going to turn their noses up when it's more than $500. Then cry about how there's no competition.
The cards aren’t degrading. The ROPs thing is a manufacturing issue that has been fixed and refunds are being given to those affected. Ideally you’d get a replacement but stock levels aren’t there yet.Wtf is this? Aren't they open to a lawsuit for selling this or am I to naive to think there is even chance? I'd be fucking mad if I know I paid top dollar for something that's degrading so fast out of the gate, unless these are over the top stress tests that are pushing the cards to burn just to cause controversy
So, it's clickbait controversy with the added problem of low stock that will solve itself as more of these things come out, non news then, thanks for the detailed answer manThe cards aren’t degrading. It’s like every other product with a manufacturing issue. No need for a lawsuit lol. NVIDIA and retailers are dealing with it.
The melting connectors is only on a handful of cards (and no there aren’t only 7 people out there with a 5090) and every one I’ve seen is because people are stupid and using adapters/extensions or even completely wrong cables. To be fair if you already have a 12VHPWR cable it SHOULD be able to be used when upgrading but it seems they “wear out” after so many insertions…like every other cable out there. Jayz2cents did a video where he done 100 insertions (apparently rated for 30-50) and actually found that amps across the wires improved or evened out the more it was used.
What wears out is the clip on the connector that holds it in place. Even if it’s worn out it’s not gonna just fall out but if you pull it too hard or bump it then it MIGHT not be seated properly. As long as you make sure it’s all the way in then it will be fine.
Likely wearing off micro peaks in the connector material increasing surface area contact. But at some point repeated operations will go the other way, with excessive wear reducing contact area, potential micro arcs damaging the connector and as was mentioned mechanical locks degrading or failing.Jayz2cents did a video where he done 100 insertions (apparently rated for 30-50) and actually found that amps across the wires improved or evened out the more it was used.

It doesn't "degrade over time".
The ROPs are missing as a result of chip binning process as in the chips with missing ROPs were erroneously used for cards production when they shouldn't have been.
Where’s that dude?
Re-quoting this , what a dumb clickbait title . OP should be embarrassed for spreading liesIt doesn't "degrade over time".

You agree to binding individual arbitration when you download the drivers.Class action lawsuit incoming?
Yeah mods might want to lock thread as this isn't actually trueRe-quoting this , what a dumb clickbait title . OP should be embarrassed for spreading lies
and AMD still can't provide better performance than even the cards with missing ROPS.From the top comment:
