I'm happy with the success of the game. This is one of my most anticipated game and will wait for Ps5 version possibly 3 or 5 months from now. I might even be upgraded to ps5 pro by that time.

Same. This is one of those devs that I want to succeed no matter what. Them and Res Candle.

I even preordered which I never do especially on steam.

I’ll probably grab it down the road on PS5 Pro as well.

Wow, I never would have thought it would hit 100k+ CCU on steam. I’m thrilled for the team. When the PS5 version comes out, I may need to buy it there. I have the trilogy on the PS5 too.

SoC peak is at 2k, CoP at 1.3k.

I'm one of the OG fans, maybe not complete STALKER-head like few who played over the years to this day, but I played vanilla and modded tens of times, STALKER never was a huge IP, it was a beloved cult classic that snowballed into something beyond that due to many copies sold for pennies over the years, but never something huge.

100k is fuckin' great, and they got gamepass bag + help from Xbox devs. I don't see them shutting down their doors anytime soon now. I hope they party hard and crack on with patches and work on expansion.
Yes I'm a huge Stalker fan as well and I want GSC to become a powerhouse of a PC gaming developer.

All I'm saying is that I hope MS compensated GSC enough for their lost sales.

100k is not "fuckin" great. Games on Steam nowdays can pull such numbers easily. We're talking about the first new Stalker game in 14 years here.

I hope it can get to 200k by Sunday.

The highest any of the previous STALKER games have had on Steam are 2~3 thousand max.

What metrics are you using to gauge that?
My metric is the game's steam community followers number which has won me many bets on "predict the peak CCU" threads. Gamepass games always severely underperform.

huh? The vast majority of games on Steam don't pull 100k numbers easily, where are you getting that from? Even Veilguard, with its no Denuvo etc, barely pulled 70k on Steam. Games like Baldurs Gate 3 are the exception, not the norm.

And STALKER 2 is not just on Steam, it's also on GoG, where a lot of people probably picked it up because of no DRM. Along with Win PC store, PC Game Pass, Console and Console Game Pass.

Pulling 100K on Steam alone while being playable in 5 other places is impressive.

Oh yes they do and plenty of them that no one has heard of before.

Here is a list of 2024 only games that hit 100k+ on Steam:

Black Myth: Wukong
Palworld
Banana
HELLDIVERS 2
Sons Of The Forest
THRONE AND LIBERTY
Last Epoch
Once Human
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2
Content Warning
Satisfactory
Manor Lords
Enshrouded
V Rising
BROKE PROTOCOL
Farming Simulator 25
DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO
Granblue Fantasy: Relink
Liar's Bar
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl
Amarillo's Butt Slapper :messenger_tears_of_joy:
Hades II

Notice how the vast majority of those games are not successful established franchises.

EDIT: Damn PC gaming is healthy, some crazy variety there.

Can't play yet cause of another 140 gig download on the Xbox. I was ready for some day1 patch but not complete redownload. I should've waited instead of trying to play this since day1 and deal with the devs trying to fix (presumably) major bugs.

He is not completely wrong, given the years and years of hype, number 4 on amount of wishlists, fact that games like DD2 or Space Marine 2 did over 200K, I was hoping for STALKER 2 to do over 200K too, and I still hope it will get there over the weekend eventhough it is available on gamepass and what not.

But GSC need to get on patching, when some basic stuff like controller sensitivity is fucked, you dun fucked up

Give it the weekend, it might as well reach that number. It launched in the middle of a work week.

Yeah, knowing the full context around STALKER is like an elaborate geo-check. if you think that 100k+ on PC for this franchise is stellar you severely missing just how cult the series is in Europe and CIS. Especially since the PC is the main (if not only) platform where the game is both viable and relevant.

113k is alright for STALKER (and 13k above Farming Sim 25 in the same timeframe), but I bet a lot of less hardcore fans and common people will bounce off until optimization passes. I expect around 150k peak ccu during the weekend and that will probebly be STALKER 2 peak overall.

Thats not been my experience. Theres a lot of jank but stutter seemed minimal in my 3 hours earlier today.

I had 2 crashes in 2 hours and i had awful stutters when the game literally froze for like 0.5 sec. Its just terrible to play

I hope the PS5 release isnt years away. I cant play this on my PC, its a stuttering mess
There’s been zero mention of a PS5 version, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t one coming. The dev is just under contract to not talk about it or admit working on a port.

I read somewhere that it’s either a 3 or 6 month console exclusive. I don’t remember where though.

Yeah ive had a few crashes, it also seems to lock up when saving, but not many stutters while its actually working correctly.

It needs work no doubt, im giving it another session tomorrow then probably putting on the back burner for a while. Theres a decent game in there somewhere.

A bit off-topic here, but I couldn't help noticing that the promised 9th gen update for the original Stalker trilogy never showed up, despite the devs claiming a Q4 release.
I suppose everyone assumed that meant it would release before or concurrent with Stalker 2.
They still have a month, I guess. But after the dirty lies of Hangar 13, I'm not optimistic about promised patches any more.

These are a small fraction of games released on Steam this year, though.

I’m struggling to understand how you’re saying the franchise has a massive audience of hardcore players, but can’t explain why this audience isn’t there day one.

So your argument is that many of these hardcore, cult STALKER players just…vanished or evaporated? They have a long history of playing buggy and janky Stalker games, but suddenly put their foot down and decided they couldn’t handle bugs in this one?

Only thing I'll say is that it's hard to pin down what actual sales numbers are like for these numbers. They usually over-predict sales.

113k ccp being high or low depends on the budget for this game. I'm guessing the budget is lower than games like Outlaw/Veilguard/Spiderman 2 but higher than games like Wukong, Space Marine 2, Stellar Blade, Grandblue Fantasy Relink.

I'll say it's doing pretty good not super amazing but definitely seems good especially since it's raking up from multiple places. Might get it in the future since it got some Metro vibes even if they are pretty different.

PC gamers need to grow a backbone and stop lining the pockets of developers when they deliver sub-standard products.

Gamers diving in day one (especially pre-ordering it for months too) are like the guys who buy a new car in a first year remodeling. Good luck guys. Have fun taking one for the team with repairs, sloppy workmanship and recall letters.

I'll wait for a year 2 or 3 edition.
