Rahul Kohli is fantastic, so I'm glad (though not necessarily surprised) that no one is screaming DEI here.

I'd be even more interested if SOMEHOW Mike Flannagan was involved in this, but I'm sure they would have said so if he was.

Aren't you hyped about having to do the same stage over and over again, until you can finally defeat a boss. Also, if you die later or turn off the console, you will have to do everything again, because fuck the player.

I hated Returnal so much.
you didn't know it was a roguelike game before playing it. Seems like a user issue

Indeed I didn't. I ended up learning that I hate this type of game with a passion.

Minus Hades. Hades is cool. Hopefully I will also like Nightreign.

It's the point of the roguelike genre, yes. Maybe you are new to videogames, but there are plenty of people who are excited to do exactly this.

Day one for sure. It sounds like they are going to flesh out the roguelite elements more which was the only thing really missing from the first game. I've enjoyed pretty much all Housemarque games so I hope this is the one that actually sells well, they deserve it.

Only highlight here for me. And WHAT a highlight. I love Returnal, and this has the same brilliant vibes. To bad it's far off, but confirmation that they're making what looks like a spiritual sequel is very, very good.
I honestly thought after Harry Krueger leaving and the long silence that a studio closure announcement would hit any minute now. I'm just happy they're still kicking but definitely slightly weary without Krueger at the helm. Still, I saw this shit and was like

Day 1!
Loved the game play of returnal, but I hope they improve the story/lore, it was too random to have any meaning.

The PS Blog article on the game announcement is up:

After Returnal we knew we had created something special and award-winning, but we also knew we wanted Returnal to stand on its own. With this in mind, we decided to create a new IP which evolves our deep third-person action and mysterious storytelling.

Saros is an action game with the haunting story of a lost off-world colony on Carcosa under an ominous eclipse. You play as Arjun Devraj, a powerful Soltari Enforcer who will stop at nothing to find who he is looking for. Our goal is to create an emotional and powerful character study that explores the cost it takes to create a new future.

Arjun is performed by Rahul Kohli (Midnight Mass, The Fall of the House of Usher). Rahul is truly bringing Arjun to life in a stunning performance. He has been a brilliant collaborator to tell our story and champion for the game. He is also not alone on Carcosa, and we will reveal more of our fantastic ensemble npc cast and story information ahead.

A key gameplay distinction between Saros and Returnal is permanent resources and progression making every death valuable. After every death you will face a changed world, but in Saros you will be able to choose and permanently upgrade your loadout from an evolving set of weapons and suit upgrades to “come back stronger” to overcome the challenges you face on Carcosa.

We cannot wait to share more about our gameplay, art, audio, music, technology, story, how we push the PS5 console hardware and more from everyone working on Saros.

Expect our first look at extended gameplay later this year.

Saros is the next single-player action game from Housemarque and our amazing collaborators.

This is a dream project made by a dream team.

Thanks for reading!

I have only one question. Do we get the same shitty gun after each death?

Wait! no gameplay? Playstation is really dead.

So the first game bombed despite being excellent so they doubled down on the rougelike elements? What? Are they TRYING to get shutdown?

Just make a traditional third person shooter. No one wants to play rougelikes on consoles. or PC for that matter since the game flopped hard on pc too.

I didn't see this game bombing. Only thing I remembered was that it was one of the first titles costing $70 and people couldn't afford it. Once they realized what it was they came around to it.

That being said I wasn't in the roguelite genre, but this opened my eyes to play other genres rather than JRPG, action adventure, fighters, etc. I'm glad Returnal exists.
