It is crazy that if you want a solid 60fps, you need to play the PS4 version of the Remaster on your PS5.

Hopefully they can patch the native PS5 version to perform better. It's not terrible, but it should be at least on par with the PS4 version.

Can’t stand frame drop nerds. Just play the fucking game and have fun. We’ve always had frame rate drops. NO ONE GAVE A SHIT until these autistic nerds from DF started showing them on graphic lifelines.

And now everyone pearl clutches. Bunch of snowflakes.

Remember this is the guy that said FF7 Rebirth looks “terrible” on a base PS5. Not only do these guys actively kill some sales of good games because of their bullshit, but they’re also just flat out liars. And what’s worse is how many here drink it all up as fucking gospel.

I am playing it on PS5 and can confirm the frame drops are real when there are multiple enemies on screen. Not a deal-breaker by any means and I'm still really enjoying revisiting the game.

If it bothered me more, I'd play the PS4 version (which is included free when you buy the PS5 version digitally), but it doesn't. It's there, but not a big problem.

what the fuck man .. how are two relatively simple looking PS3/360 games not able to be up-ported to current hardware without issues?

It's $24 on eshop. Same studio made Lollipop chainsaw (which I just recently bought and Iove). I never played either game when they came out.
For this price it's instant buy.

We aren't getting games like this due to woke movement of weirdos so i support these titles when i can.
I really love that Japanese cover art. Why they took the sexy lady out in the states is ridiculous, as It would of brought it to my attention back then, right away.

I was calling my game purchases this year done (outside of dragon quest 3), but i will buy this.

I played lollipop chainsaw on switch and had zero issues with performance. The switch. I think modern gamers are too sensitive with frames per second. Some find 30fps unplayable, yet back in the dos days we were lucky to get 15fps in a shrunken window playing wolf3d. I know extreme and old example, but I have heard people complain about performance fps issues so many times yet when I get the games they play fine.

What I don't like is dynamic resolution shifting and aliasing that you can actually see. Stick to one style of visuals or tone done a few settings, don't drop resolution to sub hd.

As a horny teenager bought the lewd japanese version for the cover. Hahaha, this game is fuckin awesome and one of my favs.

Seriously. If I would of seen this in the 2000s I would of picked it up day 1... I was in my early to mid 30s and married btw... Still would of picked it up. It's like Americans forgot sexy aesthetics sell, and just stick to violence. you can have both.

The frame drops start to get bad later into the game and it isn’t brief. Like 10+ seconds of very jarring slow down.

Hope they patch it

Edit: Had to stop playing. I think I’m on 2-3? And at this point it’s 30 to sub 30fps more consistently than being 60 fps.

Wtf happened?

I may switch to ps4 version if my save Carrie’s over.

Sex is cool but have you ever witnessed frames drop in a game?

For real, i remember playing crysis 3 in 2013 with 20 fps average just cause it looked so good i refused to lower the details on my mid spec PC. I played mostly stealth so even with 20 fps it was somewhat playable. These WEAK fucks these days complain that it drops from 60 to 56, fuck off lol.

Nah.. you're a weak fuck to accept a Xbox 360 game having fluctuating framerate on a Ps5. The game isn't smooth at all, doesn't matter if the drops are in the 50's as long as it's unstable we perceive it as such.

We're not in 2013 anymore and you clearly are in the extreme minority of gamers anyway if you were fine choosing to play 20fps Crysis 3 ...stop being a fucking clown.

I'm not a console peasant, I can lock the framerate to 50 if i see it keeps dropping to 50. No lil bro, you are the weak one.

Steam forums say there's currently no graphics settings and the only config is mkb binds...that are done outside of the game.

60fps cap
No FOV slider
No ultrawide
No .ini for settings

I'm still going to get it - that doesn't affect me and it's only £20 for a UE3 game that is probably going to run just fine

WTF, it's just a simple, barebones uprez port and it's got framerate issues ? fuck meeeee...

Sorry boys but this is literally inexcusable, had it been a remake in a new engine with new lighting, higher res textures/geometry etc I could somewhat understand, but this ?

Why can't we have nice things dammit ? I was about to buy it but reading Arsic Arsic 's post...this shit should have ran at 4K/120Hz ffs, not "targeting" 60 with constant drops to 30.

What really saddens me though gents is that some of you - instead of criticizing the very fact that it's inexcusable - started the usual "I've played games at 20fps in the past" and "Digital Foundry LOL" defence force , why ? Wouldn't you have preferred if a PS360 port ran rock-solid ? Is sub-par performance acceptable now just 'cause this is a nostalgic, "cult" game ? C'mon boys, be better than that, this is the OT for the game so obviously each participant in here is interested in getting it.

This is probably getting patched but...do we really need to wait AGAIN for a 13 years old port to work properly/as it should ?

Don't blame "framerate snobs" or DF, it comes off as incredibly defensive for no reason whatsoever, blame the technically inept devs who did this barebones port (they're the same devs that ported lollipop chainsaw right? It really shows then).

This is why we can't have nice things, the term "lazy devs®" comes to mind, I'm going to wait now for a patch cause this is something that even the Pro won't fix since it's 100% a code thing (not that this should require a Pro to begin with).

People make the most bullshit arguments when they have to protect their game of the week.

A ps3 game not running perfectly on a ps5 is not a good job no matter how you spin it.

The PS4 version seem to be running at a stable 60 fps, but hopefully they'll be patching the PS5 native version as well since those frame-rate dips mentioned by Arsic earlier on this page are inexcusable. It's a fricking UE3 game after all.

Seriously now, now need for laughing emojis, where exactly am I wrong ?
You can like a game all you like but to have a 13year old game dropping frames like a motherfucker is not exactly a good look, is it ?

You're usually a good poster bro, that's why I find your previous comment to be...combative and defensive, there's nothing to "defend" here man, and sure as shit the people that want to buy and have a good experience with a - again - 13year-old port are not the ones to blame, heck, not even John from Digital Foundry, in fact, if anything, this kind of reporting is to be applauded and not made fun of.

You're better than that love 😘

Cheers

People were giving a shit about framerates way before DF was a thing. For example, I don't remember people just "ignoring the drops and having fun" with Dark Soul's Blightown.

It's fine if you don't care, more power to you, but don't go calling those who care "framerate-nerds" or "snowflakes".

Also, we as consumers should hold higher standards than this imo. A PS3 game running like shit on a PS5 should not be condoned.

I love you, man. And I totally get where you’re all coming from but I played Shadows at the time on a PS3 with terrible resolution and frame drops. I play my Switch all the time on a 4K tv. You can’t even imagine the games with fluctuating frames that are on that system.

We’re getting a native 4K version here with drops inside the VRR range. The game looks much better than it’s original version. I’m sure they’ll patch it up. But understand that for some this just a non issue. I played the whole of Elden Ring on PS5 IN QUALITY MODE which is always around 40 to 45 frames. It just doesn’t bother me. It never did. I grew up as a pc gamer in the DOS days and frames were all over the place. Even arcades would shit their pants the more sprites you would have on screen.

Seeing people crying because drops here and there at a native 4K game that in everything looks like a major step up from the original version does make me laugh.

We’re just different.

All the love to you and GymWolf GymWolf . He knows I love him as well. ;)

For Lollipop, they redid it in UE5 which comes at a cost (which John mentioned) but mostly UE5 and optimisation
But I believe they've fixed that recently as the game now has a performance mode, which it didn't before.
For Shadows of the Damned .... it's a simple port and whatever unoptimised crap the original had (and it had them) is now being brute forced to 4K60fps.
The new consoles maybe able to run circles around the PS3/360 but they still need optimisation.
I'm sure they patch that shit up, but I wouldn't imagine the teams are that big on those games so I'd give them a bit leg room to fix that shit before crying about it.
Plus John is overreacting, he's been hanging with Alex too much.

Consistent 40 fps is wildly preferred to me than being 60 fps one second, then 10 seconds at 27, then 3 seconds at 56, then 4 at 43, etc.

It makes it very jarring. Locked fps is all I want.

Does the ps4 version run at 1080,4k,1440p?

This is for for the framerate sensitive people out there (including me) :

Again, this shouldn't be happening on a simple, 13year old game up-res port, really hope they fix it, until then, I'm afraid that it's a no buy for me, I want to support them but not like this...

I'm having a blast on PC, with a completely solid 165fps (yeah, there's a fan patch that unlocks resolutions, aspect ratios and fps). You can even play the game in ultrawide with no stretching of any kind.

By the way, if you have a pro, game is flawless 60. Brute force. It’s such a joy to play it.

Short missions. Great art direction. Funny humour. Amazing soundtrack. I know it’s a remaster but it’s going to end up high on my GOTY. They just don’t make them like they used to: punk.

Game runs perfect on the Pro. Sorry peasants.

Tommi, that's not an excuse.
Again, it's a straight-up port of a 13 year old game, shit's literally indefendible and shameful - and don't give me the "it's only 25 Eurodollars" either, this, should be running at 4K120Hz natively.

This, for all intents and purposes is literally a lazy port and a "lazy devs" situation, no two ways about it no matter how much you or i are fans of suda51 and/or SOTD

Cheers

Good to know there are ways around it, but it take a collosal fuck-up to have these sorts of issues on the barest of bare ports from 2 generations ago. Zero enhancements and not even AA. If you're asking for money at least get something right. This is a deep sale for me, I don't feel like rewarding such a sloppy job.

Got my disc copy, it kicks ass. Going to go for the platinum, though not in a rush because I've beaten the OG years ago. Still, played 2 chapters and its as fun as ever.
