I've been investing very heavily in a 4k physical collection (with a few Criterion/Arrow blu rays thrown in there) over the past year or two, but this isn't surprising at all. The future of physical movies is going to be online only. I don't see Target, Walmart, Best Buy, and other major retailers discounting sales entirely because I think they'll continue to have exclusive steelbooks, editions etc... (Best Buy especially seems to lean pretty heavily into those), but it doesn't make sense to devote floor space to something that is pretty niche in 2023.
