[Windows Central] The UK and other regions are running suspiciously low on Xbox Series X console stocks.

1) Allegedly, Microsoft are working on Xbox OS, which could run on handhelds and consoles.
2) Microsoft have promised a new home console.

Microsoft promise lots of things and then backtrack. If the market isn't there for a new Xbox console then Microsoft aren't going to piss away money on one, regardless of what's been said in the past.

A handheld seems more likely than a home console.

Indeed, Spencer Phil likes to promise abstract good things.
But Parker Sarah promised a new and much more powerful Xbox. It's impossible to misunderstand her words!

Could be a console.

Could be an “Xbox” branded desktop PC

Very vague considering all the rumours

Xbox series X
700+ bought in past month
Xbox series S

I'm with Retro on this one. It'll most likely be a console/PC hybrid with a lot of thrid party manufacturers.

I can't see Microsoft going back to the traditional console model. It's cost them too much money.

I’m guessing the disc XSX is now out of production in favor of the white digital version which may be lagging behind on stock shipments in some places.

Microsoft and Sony both clearly signaling their intentions to go all-digital future with the white XSX and PS5 Pro.

Looks that way huh?

Can't say I'm too upset. Xbox is a gamepass machine and Nintendo is still physical. Sony... their digital policies suck so if they go that route I'm out.

The prospect of one of the major platform holders not having an option to buy hardware that plays physical media is frightening for me.

It’s the reason I don’t “buy” PC games.

I only tend to buy games where the full game is playable from the disc.

Same. I get that Steam, GoG, etc. are reliable, but I buy physical - always have and always will.

This looks like making further steps in their slow retreat from the console business. They started with the markets where Xbox had the abysmal share compared to PlayStation and now they're moving on to others.

The drip drab strangulation suits no one. Should just restrict Series X sales to MS.com and sell Series S in brick and mortar stores and confirm this in a statement.

It’s like Microsoft want to present two different realities to two different userbases

Xbox owners - we’re still supporting Xbox consoles, please stay with us

Everyone else - we’re third party now, look forward to all our games on your platform

Hence the mixed messaging

Why keep sending shipments for something that isn't selling? Why are people surprised about this? They prob just using their own stock to expand their cloud farm at this point.

Dam what’s going on, stock levels in the uk are really low, they should have one sku, that is slightly less powerful then ps5, but a lot cheaper. But as always they get the strategy all wrong. People don’t care how powerful it is, they just want killer games on it, look at the switch.

I remember checking smyths when this thread was originally created. Seems like store stock is still mostly non existent.
Wasn't there a rumor early last year that production of Xbox consoles in China came to a halt, at the same time Sony supposedly halved production of PS5?

Seems to me that it might be true and Xbox is quietly phasing out Series, while they sell whatever they have in stock.

Because if stores are running out of stock and sales are flatlining, that's the only logical conclusion.

I have seen no issue getting Xbox hardware. What disappointed me was SEGA Europe only brought Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii digitally for Pal Xbox So I've had to import the collectors edition from Amazone US.

I'm amazed the Generation trolls haven't picked up on it

With Xbox exploding in popularity, it's no wonder no one can get their hands on this beast of a machine. Forza Motorsport, Indiana Jones, South of Midnight....I feel they have too many games.

Local GameStop in PA hasn’t had new series x or series s for a couple months now. Said they have been waiting but nothing coming. They usually have a few on hand if each.
