Sometimes it's the little things. Just Fixed my SteamDeck for the $3

I dropped my Steam Deck on the ground on the concrete in the parking lot of an Ikea. Somebitch fell right out of the case. "THWAP!" No obvious physical damage but the D-pad was acting very kitty wampus. Up and right didn't work and down and left both inputted for down. Same with the buttons, a was b and b x y didn't work. I presumed the worst, the daughterboards must be damaged internally. Looked up the prices and of course these damn prices are $150 bucks a pop.

Let me also say that I adore my steam deck and although I have a 5 / Series X / Switch Trifecta, the SD is my main console.

Long story long but not too long, it was only the ribbon cables on both sides that were loose and after I reseeded them the buttons and DPAD worked a treat!

As for the 3 dollars, I spent that on Wawa coffee for what I thought was going to be a ton of YouTube videos trying to fix my easy ass problem.

Steam Deck is super repairable. Mine currently shuts off at random moments when it's playing a high-power game on battery, but I'm fairly sure it's either a software/calibration issue or something I can sort out via ifixit if I can be bothered. Any other console, I know I'd be screwed.

XBOX X/S are modular and easy as hell to repair. You literally just pull of the part and put a new one on. Power Button, Wifi, Bluetooth, Power Supply, and fan just pop right off and on.
