Sony E3 2012 Conference Thread

I really liked what they had.

Even if we knew about most of it.

Their complete lack of Vita is disconcerting though.

The actual surprise here is Beyond until the pics started leaking hours before the conference.

That was the only conference where I didn't actually listened to or watched most of the stuff. Jesus christ the pacing was horrible. There was so many megatons they could have dropped. Kojima stuff? A new TLG trailer? Gaikai/Onlive? Diablo 3? New Sucker Punch game? New Vita game?
The overall message of the MS conf was more depressing, but holy shit at least it was watchable. Thank God for Last of Us, but even then, no release date?

Both of them had the same length...

I think it's cause of the shittacularly paced trailers during Sony's conference. Even actual games like GoW Ascension were boring cause the trailer was just too fucking long. And don't get me started on that 30 minute (or at least it felt that long) Wonderbook crap-fest immediately followed by harping on and on about shitty cell phone gaming.

Seeing it in action though.

*Keanu Whoa*

I mean I liked parts of Indigo Prophecy, loved Omikron, only watched video of Heavy Rain, but this impressed me. I can't believe I'm saying this so late in the generation, but it made me really want to get a PS3.

Last of Us was impressive as well. And... well I've never been too big a fan of God of War. Don't get me wrong. I love the art styles they employ, they've got terrific enemy and environmental design, along with some very impressive tech to back it up, but it's way too violent. It revels in it too much.

This is slightly disturbing to me.

So GoW is a pass to me. Those other two games though. They looked like they had an interesting story to tell, and some terrific tech to compliment them.

Really sucks about Vita though.

I have just woken up, any big surprise announcements form Sony conference for Vita? :D

Why don't you have a seat over there. We need to have a conversation. Vita was in a car accident and nothing was around to help stop the bleeding so its in really bad shape right now.

We aren't sure if it is going to make it.

So this is the new wireless playstation headset that's coming out.

This article seems to confirm a new PS3 update, which will hopefully fix that stupid mic issue that owners of the old wireless headset seems to be experiencing. On another note, this appears to be a Bluetooth headset, because it's compatible with the Vita and other mobile devices.

Wouldn't the bass fuck up your perception of sounds in game?

Well here is hoping they are decent. What technology is it using? Bluetooth? It says it is compatible with Vita.

Looks pretty good. Hopefully the current one goes on sale for cheap because of this.

This was bad....realy man :( Im in Europ so I was up at 03:00 expecting to see great things.
I was hyped but only Last of Us deliverd, the rest was soooo crapy.

It was poor but still better than Microsoft. At least they have original IPs. The Last Of Us is a killer-app IMO. God Of War looked exactly the same as 7 years ago gameplay-wise. No addition to the combat, nothing new. No Last Guardian is not surprising anymore. Vita is dead.

Better than MS but that's not saying much. Maybe partly due to leakage, but some demos dragged on for way too long, especially Wonderbook. I can see why they'd want to show it off, kids will eat it up, but damn.

So far Ubi is still the king, maybe Nintendo can top them. Ubi at least kept the pace going throughout.

Did anyone think that Sony was focusing on 2013?......Nothing new to announce, no major exclusieves?
I thoug MS was bad but this was just jus bad. Im hopeing Nintendo will do better

Pretty bad conference and all the surprises leaked. No idea why they allocated so much time to Wonderbook.

Another poster said that this E3 was the premiere of Sony's new internal marketing team...and it showed. Sony recent E3s were at least solid, if not good. This year was uncharacteristically bad. As you said the, Wonder book shit was at least 10 minutes too long, precious time that could have gone towards actually displaying Vita games.

Dire. Utterly dire. It was 2am here and the Wonderbook sent me to sleep. I see I didn't really miss anything.

The Vita is utterly fucked. If it wasn't the best way to play GT: PSP, I'd have serious buyers remorse.

Why is anyone surprised by the lack of megatons?

It is probably advantageous to avoid a megaton completely. I know it sucks for us, but E3 is about watching the games you love, not to be "shock and awed". It is for the mainstream press. I am happy we saw footage of the Last of Us, Beyond, God of War Ascension, and the Battle Royale Vita announcement.

The faster you can accept that, the less delusional some of you will be.

Utterly missed the show. Quick update please?

Demos for games we've already seen, Tretton hands out Plus subs to the attendees, really bad PS Eye game aimed at kids demoed. Nothing on Vita apart from a short AC3: Liberation trailer and a PS1 support announcement. Not even a date for that.

So Vita is saved? still doomed? What's the verdict?
Well, put it this way:

Nintendo are dedicating their "software showcase" to 3DS software, so around an hours worth of stuff from them on 3DS.

Sony..well, didn't announce anything new and glossed over anything they did show.

I think that about sums up the portable market pretty well at the moment.

Sony have launched a fantastic piece of hardware in Vita and now seems to want to deny they ever did.

So nothing major shown? Last Of US looking great? New Cage game thingy?

Vita pretty much ignored? That is really odd. I hope Sony have not abandoned it already.

Well I liked beyond and the last of us, and I feel stupid for liking the psONE support on the vita (it should've been there form the beginning).

And the rest was pretty meh, filled up with god awful move games.

Wait, wait wait.

Hold up. Hold the FUCK up, people!

That game that Sony unveiled, The Last of Us, ISN'T a sequel to Uncharted? It's a completely original game?

They showed like a 10 minute cutscene from the Cage game. They mentioned COD Vita showed a Title Card like last year than moved on even though they said its coming this year. Not one bit of footage or even a screenshot which is very worrisome.

Spent 20 minutes or more on Wonderbook which is basically Augmented Reality books.

10 mins? Damn! Looking like a better Heavy Rain or something a bit different?

Wow. Poor Vita. I hardly knew you.

I was convinced Sony would at least throw up a few titles for Vita, if they had nothing ready. I mean, aside from BLOPS. Like, tease a GT or something!

I felt like someone needed to tell Jack that Nintendo are launching a new console this year. I was expecting MS and Sony to bring bombs in retaliation, it just hasn't happened. Bizarre, really.

Graphically the new game is quite impressive but since it was all cutscene its hard to say how it ill be as an actual game.

Both Sony and MS's conference was very lacking in content this year. My guess is that they are saving their "bombs" for next year when they unveil their new consoles. This E3 seemed to be some weird, empty transition period for both.

I genuinely can't believe the lack of fucking anything from Sony for the Vita. Alright they plopped up a trailer of the Assassins Creed, and another fucking Call of Duty logo, but other than cross platform shit, nothing for Vita. Literally nothing.

No sign of Killzone Vita, no segment even devoted to Sound Shapes unless I missed that towards the start? Nor a solid date for PS1 support. I just dont even understand what Sony is doing now. 30 minutes for a fucking Eyetoy game rather than their troubled fresh portable.

I didnt have buyers remorse about Vita until now. I didn't entertain the possibility they'd have nothing to fucking show.
