Sony warns trade war could lead to PlayStation price hikes

Look, I think you are a great poster, but you're the one that saw yourself into our dispute. Having a disagreement is one thing, but the tone you chose was combative, and I found it rude that because of a disagreement you say i'm not educated on China because of allegations being misrepresented as facts. They could very well be true, but it hasn't been proven. And that certainly doesn't make me uneducated on China. I'm well aware of the allegations. I'm very familiar with Falun Gong and how it's advertised in the US as the performance "Shen Yun." as well as its history in China.

I had been trying to steer the conversation away before you even butted in. If we want to talk about China, the political area is probably better. Their ideology has nothing to do with the trade war though. That's been the point i've been trying to make since I entered this thread. It doesn't make any sense to discuss it in this context. So no, I'm not dodging anything by not wanting to discuss communism in a thread that should be about IP theft.
Communism is a comprehensive ideological and economical structure for society. Their ideology is directly related to the trade war.

Sorry if my reply to your dismissals of illegal executions was combative.

Again, I don't think you can consider China communist economically due to their free market in the private sector. It wasn't a dismissal, it was a disagreement on whether it was factual or not, and that wasn't why it was combative in my opinion. Moving on, are we good?

Yes because the communist government needs cash. You should research the Chinese social credit rating, absolutely tyrannical. Pure dictatorship.

They haven't really been communists since 1978 though... Again, this is about IP theft, not their political ideology.

Because they know the system as a whole is a lie, but as they are repressive to the max, they'll realized that they can use capitalism to finance their repressive power.

I think it had more to do with their starving underdeveloped country.

Gradually.
I don't believe the process will happen overnight, but supporting things like Trump's tarriffs against China, voting for political partys who also take a tougher stance on China, are the way to go.

How about I let you know right now?

But sure, supporting Communist China is worth it right just so you can get your cheap Playstations?

Some people would rather wait until they're punched in the face to do what they should have pre emptively. At some point the West will have to deal with China militarily. Ignoring the problem & in this case enriching it will only make the inevitable that much harder to deal with later.

People want cool stuff at an stupid low price and no one cares about the health conditions of the workers, ecological footprint o how many fucking people could be saved by inverting that money in a small bussiness in a shithole country.

Thats capitalism.

People end up wanting these systems in place themselves, because they've made it beneficial in the short term financially or lifestyle wise.

You don't even know what you are talking about.
All I can say is research social credit rating. All about dominating the population.

But the fact is big business like Apple are greedy. They could easily manufacture everything in the US and still make good profit.

I know what it is, but you missed my point. The things that end up controlling people usually start out by the people themselves wanting it or turning a blind eye to it, because it's made to be that way. TLDR: its a trap.

Well if its played like that... then I have to warn sony that price hikes could lead to less sales... damn now what sony? Ball is again on your side.
Why so aggressive? Did Sony hurt you with this totally understandable prediction about tariffs?

But that wouldn't be capitalism.
The USA are just to expensive for production. My country has the same problem. Automation could help and I see light on the horizon in this regard.

Apple products are over priced. And manufacturing at home is good for the economy. People now have no problem with £800-£1k iPhones.

The rest of the tariffs are confirmed coming, we'll now see who eats the cost or passes them on.

Really wondering if the Chinese will bow before everyone starts to move production at a faster rate.

What defines overpriced? There are enough people who are buying their products for those high prices. A company in a capitalist world tries to max thenprofits and this will always lead to the search for cheaper manufacturing. And there is enough folks who have a problem with so expensive decices. They would be the victims.

Why should we care that China is Communist?

Certain users on this board are deeply invested in the political theories of Jordan Peterson, which is why you'll see them ranting about the horrors of communism and socialism in a topic that has nothing to do with that.

Especially when you know what communism and sozialism means. China is not a socialist or communist country anymore and more closer to an extreme capitalist dictatorship. Money reigns everything there like in the USA or in the rest of the world.

owned every playstation but cant support the return of ps3 tier arrogant sony with their separation of multiplayer or the pro censorship direction they lay out for the rest of the industy, so yeah i am biased imo sony has been too long nr1 again but this is not about sony even looking at the industry as a whole it doesnt reach the importance to dictate tarifs with freaking china.

I know what you mean. And I'm always angry when the extreme loud fan of my PS4 Pro turns on but this isn't just a problem for Sony. They only said it out loud. In the end everybody loses.

I don't like Jordan Peterson at all! But that's mainly due to his comments about women and minorities. But are you telling me he rants against the China takeover too?

Hmmm, wonder if this will the threshold that would separate Sony and Microsoft. I think they will both be affected by this, but Microsoft has been very aggressive to try and gain some market share. They cant afford (fiscally speaking) another gen like this gen. They have goo gobs of money, but i doubt they can justify pursuing another subsequent generation if this next one doesnt at least see improvement in their position amongst the big 3.

Given this situation, im curious as to whether they'll choose to eat at least a portion of that cost to further distinguish themselves from Sony next gen.

I'll be surprised if we see them set a price before Sony, I've said it before but I could see them taking a hit even $50 per console in comparison to Sony.
