Both are.

Spiderman 1 is not a 87 game and Spiderman 2 isn't+90.

They should be around 84-85 on par with Horizon (which isn't 89 either)

Any Naughty Dog game is far superior. Even Ghost of Tsushima. Insomniac and Guerrilla are not on that tier.

However, games are valued on an individual basis, there's not a relative metric so MC scores are just a vague reference.

The game needed 7.2m units sold to make a profit and it's very very possible that it'll be close to 20m. units sold by the end of the year.

Overrated or not, I think Sony is very happy about its performance.

I liked just like the first one, I'm still seeing people disliking the MJ parts, but I found them to be not bad not good.

I loved part 1 and Miles but just didn't like 2 I found it extremely difficult and tedious to finish but I was also going through a ton of shit in my life at the time so I might have to revisit it if there's DLC it's a beautiful game though.

Yes, as you can tell from my profile picture. I was excited about this game at first. loved the first one and while I wasn’t exactly too impressed with miles morales due to how small it was that and some of the story. It wasn’t bad by no means, however as soon as they revealed spider-man 2 I was on that hype train.

It wasn’t till I saw more and more going forward that eventually I didn’t even bother to play it again. Its pace is just a mess, the symbiote arch is completely rushed and watered down due to them wanting to capitalize on the venom story coming in early. Kraven was written decently, but never seen or known him to use a freaking army of hunters to do his work for while he sits back and waits to swoop in to take out his prey.

MJ isn’t as insufferable as he (yeah that “he” was intentional) was in the first game but that’s not saying much. her missions weren’t fucking needed and I don’t give a shit what the game director tries to fart out of his own ass, that’s his ego and him doubling down nothing more. didn’t care too much about Harry or that sub story because we barely connected with him until spider-man 2. Side missions apart from the flame and the mysterio missions were ass and not exactly necessary.

Overall it’s cool if you liked it, me personally it was a disappointing experience and that’s from someone who loved the first game. so much potential but squandered.

It's a great game, but Venom and all of the story written around Venom was the biggest problem for me.

I continue to hold the opinion that the character Venom is a curse and keeps giving us crappy comic storylines, crappy cartoon seasons, crappy movies, and crappy plotlines in games as well. I will keep waiting for the day that the 90s fans who love this character will wake up and realize this.

His plotline even ruined Marvel Vs Capcom infinite.

I haven’t played 2 but I’ve started 1 three times out of sheer love for the character and the game always beat me halfway. Solid 6/10.

Spider-Man 2 was mid AF—not because it was a bad game, but because it didn’t feel fresh.

After playing Spider-Man Remastered and Miles Morales, the New York setting felt a bit repetitive.

Plus, having first experienced Spider-Man with the remastered edition and all the DLC, Spider-Man 2 felt like a smaller game with fewer exciting things to do by comparison.

It was good, but I wouldn't say its a >90 game tbh. I personally like Miles Morles best of the three games, but it's been a while since I played the first one.

I think they improved the combat, the city and all the side stuff and how the open world is structured in the 2nd game. 1st game however had a superior story. Miles and Kraven memorable in 2, everyone else not so much.

Miles is my personal favourite too. Good length and a good Christmas game.

Spiderman 1 was good but Spiderman 2 I don't know my friends what do you think?? 92??

Bad story, boring/shitty characters and antagonist. Sidequests sucked. Gameplay not evolved much. Graphics a complete letdown. Yeah was a letdown for me.

Liked the first one but even that is overrated IMO.

Overrated in my opinion by a bit, but not egregiously. I think the main story missions overall are really well done. The combat is strong as ever and the finishers give a real cinematic, high budget feel to everything. Suit variety is great eye candy as well. Overall visuals are fantastic.

The traversal is at an all time high with the speed at which you can do so with the wind tunnels and wing suit combined with the web sling mechanics. The fast travel system is also best in class that I’ve seen in a game.

The city is expanded on for a larger open world with the map of the first game, plus new areas like Queens and Brooklyn.

Much of the side missions though contain what feels like forced woke content that comes off as extremely cringe and eye-roll inducing, and bogs the overall game down for me personally. Some of the dialog in the game, especially the Mary Jane boss fight towards the end was so embarrassingly bad that it kind of soured my whole memory of the game.

I think I’d give it an 84/100 based on my current memory of it.

Both decent games but nothing that spectacular or outstanding. The second one was a massive step back though, personally.

They character assasinated most of the cast, including Peter Parker. Main villan throughout a bit lame. Side missions being especially awful and they somehow managed to make MJ missions even worse; despite its critisms from SM1.

Spider-man 2 is one of the most boring sequels I've ever played. Rarely I regret spending money on games, and with this one I deeply did.

Would love to see them shaking things up with Spider-Man 3, but I think it's unlikely.

I enjoyed it and think it deserves its score. It’s way better than the original in every way (except Mary Jane, new MJ is butt ugly).

With that said though, I’m happy their next game isn’t gonna be Spiderman, they’ve milked it as far as I’m concerned and now they need to try new things. Whenever they go back to SM again it needs new elements and maybe even a co-op mode to feel fresh.

Yep the release build was extremely buggy, I had to reload save several times due to being stuck. No way near 92 MC quality.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it and I’d give it a solid 9/10. Another game I can’t wait to replay on the Pro.

Some of the side missions are garbage, but overall the game is great.

Some of the side missions in the first game weren't great either.

I have zero love towards anything Marvel or DC related, to me all them are garbage.

It’s funny from reading on here I thought the game would be overrated. Every single friend irl told me I need to play it asap and that they loved it.

When I eventually got to it I was very impressed. Don’t get me wrong a few dumb parts here and there but overall I loved it.

It's because the gameplay is still the amazing gameplay from Part 1 and Miles Morales, with added abilities. Because it has a fun skeleton it is going to be a fun game regardless. They even addressed the swinging and gave an option for it to be more momentum-based requiring more skill.

The problem is, much like their other series Ratchet and Clank, the game has to then rely on it's story as the star attraction since the gameplay was already figured out. If that part ever falters, then it makes the game seem worse. Due to Venom being a badly written character with a below average third arc, it stumbles.

I'd prefer play 1st one, miles is also fine, though not better as the first. Miles haircut in 2 is worst, duh. And peter potrayal is the woorst at 2, duh

Disappointing sequel. Spider-Man 1 was phenomenal and Miles Morales was a great expansion. Venom and Kraven were robbed of their screentime by bullshit and Peter ended up being a cuck.

Spiderman 2 was fun but long in the tooth, the mary jane sections weren't great. The deaf girl section was even worse than the atreus section in GOTW and it had a bit too much pandering.

I also prefer Peter over Miles a lot so I didnt enjoy splitting the time.

Its a fair bit below the OG.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
imo spiderman games are good, but not great games. I do enjoy the games with some negatives.

Its a very "safe" game with no innovations, very static open worldish with AAA production.
one thing that still bothers me is how stupid pedestrian NPC are in this games.

You are fighting a bunch of enemies with explosions and they still stand around with no reaction whatsoever.
