Star Wars Outlaws Main Character Already Hit With Criticism Due to Ubisoft Changing Actress Apperance

Rather than point out all the fuck ugly "women" in modern Western games, which is now standard, it would be much easier to point out the rare few decent looking ones. The women in Midnight Suns look great. The game is developed by Firaxis out of Maryland. Between being a western developer and a Disney property, I am not sure how that happened.

I don't even think its her model that's the problem. The game's animations look "off" which negatively effects the expressions of the characters.

Keep this one in the cooker, Ubisoft.

It’s because she isn’t wearing makeup and that hillarious 70s mop of hair. Give her just an hint of dark eyeshadow and a normal hair style and she would look fine. Western devs just refuse to put makeup on female characters due to political reasons.

I will say the hair would look better if the rendering or shader was better. That hair looks flat and lifeless, like a cheap wig.

I mean, I do understand why they want her to be a bit more "scruffy-looking nerf-herder" in the game. She's supposed to be a poor scavenger or whatever, she's not gonna be looking like a styled supermodel. But yeah, don't know why they had to do that to her face.
I get this, but there's also an argument to say that we've seen "scrappy mercenary" done so many times in Star Wars that its draining to see. Actually, we've seen in done so many times in games generally that it's draining.

I like the hair :(

She looks good in the trailer, I feel like some "ugliness" compared to reveal trailer may be coming from graphical downgrade (or more like pre-rendered vs in-game cutscenes).

Let's take a"random" screen capture during a dialogue and lets pretend that they have uglyfied the character so we can still fueling our Battle about surreal womens proportions on videogames so we can still play with just one hand instead of enjoing an actual good Game.

Was 2015 Lara the last attractive female lead we'll ever see in a western game? Bros it's been almost a decade
Had to check the games I played since Jan 2022. Not many attractive female leads in there. But still some:
Detroid Become Human had Kara, certainly cute. And pretty much matches Valorie Curry.
Telling Lies was an interactive movie, but they cast some good looking diverse females: Alexandra Shipp, Kerry Bishe, Angela Sarafyan
Life is Strange's Alex Chen is also cute, imho.
AC Valhalla's female Eivor is also a good looking viking, so a bit rougher looking in not so fine garments.
Mirror's Edge Faith Connors is very beautiful.
I also played Remember Me which had its character Nilin Cartier-Wells based on no real female (afaik), also beautiful, for PS3 standards.

None of them were portrayed sexualised (other than Telling Lies due to its plot) but still they had nice faces and fit figures. So it's not really 10 years of nothing.
But Stellar Blade is among very few games where the female lead is not only allowed to be beautiful but also apparantly sexualised at max level. Beside the japanese pervy cringefest that was Gravity Rush2.
It totally is possible for any decent team to create whatever ficitional character they want or use a real likeness. For some odd reason some end up with a rather cheap looking unimportant Fifa player scan or failed Unreal-Metahuman? It's not the most important thing ever, but it feels like they are somewhat sabotaging their own game and thus I have doubt the responsible people have really the actual potential audience in their aims.

What you mean? those images are from the game, the character looks like that in the game. Terrible hair style, looks like she's had cosmetic surgery gone wrong. If there's a reason for a character to look a certain way I'm all for it but this? I'm not saying the model should be drop dead gorgeous but this is a very unappealing looking character IMO.

Cherry picked mint that they are samples chosen because they show what you were looking for. I watched the trailer and she might have got a couple minutes on screen, which is a lot of frames. I also saw the one with the original model doing the mocap. And she was in there plenty, too. If I could go grab some screenshots right now, I could pick out ones that make the the in game model look way cuter than the real model.

If you want to representative sample, take one frame from every 10 seconds she's on screen and review those.

Look what they did to beyoncé!

People not expecting the full DEI starter pack in a ubisoft game after all the accusation of sexual harassement they got, must have lived in a cave.

They have a double reason for doing this shit, the woke money and saving the face\distracting from their internal problems.

Of course the woke are still gonna blast them because nothing is ever enough, and the normies are gonna think twice about buying your games, jokes on them.

I mean yeah, the character has a really awful hairdo. Hoping it will have a feature like Ginger Jedi where you can change her hair.

There's no point in casting actors if you don't use their looks. Honestly this is a waste of time and budget.

Although the game has enough problems, since this is a Ubisoft game, hardly anyone believes their videos, and even more so, I hope that the percentage of people who still pre-order Ubisoft games has decreased significantly. Since their games can only be trusted after they show it live, and preferably on stream.

And, to put it mildly, they did not behave very well by announcing this: "The physical version of Star Wars Outlaws requires an online connection to install." And damn it in a game that has a version for 130$, as I understand it, this small indie studio doesn’t have the money for two Blu-ray discs.

I'm not deep in on the hate train here. I have no interest in this game at all, but when I watch this trailer, I'm not seeing a big mismatch between the 3 shots posted in the OP. The accusation that they made her look worse than their model seems spot on to me.
  • They gave her a cleft chin where the model doesn't have one.
  • Looking at the third shot in the OP, it looks like they rounded out the eyes.
  • They changed her eyebrows from the traditional curve to more of a straight dash, and changed the color of the brows to blend in with the skin tone.
  • They reduced the overall size of the mouth.
I'm not seeing a single shot in that 4:44 trailer where the character looks "way cuter than the real model". If you want to try to find one, please do.

Hey maybe her backstory is being born with some kind of skull/facial defect.

I don’t want to post spoilers, but maybe they find a Jedi who can fix it?

Ok after watching this video this is just straight up manufactured outrage using cherry picked pics. If anything, they made the in game model look better than the actual person who is in this video.
She looks ok in the game, but dosent look anything close to the feminine face of the real model. She looks like a tomboy, not ugly like the cherry picked screens, but not as feminine looking as the real person. But when its male characters they always managed to to a pretty close copy.
So yeah, western devs and artists keep unglifying they female characters on purpose.

Okay I don't have a lot of time for this but im feeling invested lol. Also don't care about the game but this whole thing seems tilting at windmills so I'll make some effort.

...

I have the images on my drive in my public folder and they won't post. "image cannot be loaded by passed link". I've made it work before. Someone help! 😥

I think a small number of people take the outrage too far, but that doesn't mean it isn't a trend.

Ultimately it doesn't matter if the game is good. I Just played through TLOU2 on PS5 again recently. I wasn't paying attention to commentary when that game came out. I was surprised to hear later on so many people had an issue with Abby's appearance. Her being a weightlifter and more masculine character made perfect sense to me in the context of the story.

But then I see something like the MJ from Spiderman 1 to Spiderman 2 and there's just no justification for the change to that character. It didn't even look like the same person. It would be like a film version swapping out Emma Stone for Tilda Swinton.

I consider the MJ in spider man to be egregious uglification. :/ It DOES happen.

this looked just fine. damn fine at that

hair looked magnificent too. ruin the face but why ruin the hair as well?? it looks like a mop attached to her head now. I wonder if this was a bullshot cg-like render and reality is their engine cant actually handle hair or something. hair always looked off in ac games anyways

Why have they given her that dent in her chin for? She didn't even look like that in the demo prior.

Was Sweet Baby Inc. involved in this?

Generation 8 and 9 finally gives us graphics to make realistic, attractive game models.. and this is what they create with it? They don't deserve it. I didn't suffer through 8-bit and 16-bit block boobs for this lol, wtf.

Natalie Cox and Sam Witwer where more faithfully represented in the fucking PS3's The Force Unleashed. The only game in the present time that I saw a faithfull representation of the actors is Death Stranding.

I'm playing The Quarry and it has a ton of semi-famous actors that are ALL OVER THE PLACE with how well whatever tech they are using recreates their face. The men, in particualr, seem to be really close, but the girls......YIKES. I think it's the software folks, it's sexist....

I think the tech for their jaws and teeth just can't handle more delicate feminine features as well, anytime a woman character talks in TQ it's a horrifying marionet shit show of teeth sliding and cheeks stretching. Hopefully this transitory period is over soon....

EDITED: Honestly? Looking at the photos more, her character model looks fine to me, it’s just the hair that’s kinda funky. She’s no grunge MJ from Spider-Man 2 or anything. The actress portraying her is beautiful; the character herself is cute. Or I guess, as cute as a bunch of pixels can be. As a whole, she looks good, cherry picked stills aside.
