Writes a lot, says very little

They not wrong about that gamification regarding stamina lol

I was hype when I saw weightlifting in some trailer in the background and saw some perk or something existed for it, so I was hype to see a workout bench, only to then see videos of people just running and shit to level up the "weight lifting" lol

Fucking...for how?

This is the fucking funniest shit, we need a mod for them weights to make use of the actual bench press they have in the fucking game

I don't really understand how they'd consider it worth excluding certain outlets from recieving a review copy tbh. It brings bad press (at least when going to such lengths as to providing DF with a code and explicitly saying its not to be shared with Eurogamer) and when all is said and done there's like one week of a slightly higher MC score. Feels like the juice isn't worth the squeeze, so to speak.

I completely agree with what he said, but this game deserves at least 4 stars. I've played it for 15 hours so far and haven't even realized how time has passed. I'm not extremely impressed, but I can't stop playing the game either. Even if they had incorporated space travel on a 2d map full of random encounters like in Fallout 1-2, it could have been much better, but maybe they have different plans for DLC. It certainly lack in discovery department, which is not good for a space game(especially, developed by bethesda).

To be clear. You haven't played that much. You're not impressed. But it deserves at least 4 out of 5?

Edge coming in with a 5 I bet. They love being the drama of the review industry.

The more you play BGS titles, the more you'll notice the flaws found in every title and with every new release of theirs, they fall further behind the technology gap of other modern titles in terms of animations, character modeling, gameplay mechanics, AI, etc.

starfield having this amount of loading after my 200 hours in Night City. Shame because I love the setting and quests.

I've now played just over 48hrs and I'm about where Eurogamer is probably - a 6/10. I really enjoyed around the first 24 hours or so but I've been getting more and more bored. I might keep playing it a little bit but my motivation to play it is getting really weak.

This Starfield review fiasco has really opened my eyes to reviews in general. Gaming has been my hobby since the NES days and I still talk to my circle of friends that are into games.

We are not loyal to any console or company but have all been playing the heck out of starfield since early access. I don't think any other game this gen has hooked me in as much as this game.

It could just be an age or personal preference thing IDK. What I do know though is I won't be looking at reviews anymore without trying a game for myself first.

I'm in the same boat. Started around 5 days ago and I can't stop. Easily one of the most immersive games I played, it's super fun and feels modern unlike Skyrim or Fallout 4 in the years they released in. Haven't been this into a BGS game since Oblivion. Easily deserves another 3-5 points on Metacritic imo.

Yeah it deserves another 3-5 less points to sit at 79 or less
Why? Just because they tried to manipulate reviews by sending codes only to positive reviewers

Enjoying it, made myself an ugly spaceship called the flying pig. Happy.

Are reviews based on enjoyment or execution of concept?
I’m gonna boil it down to one word. Taste.

I’ve enjoyed my fair share of 6/10 games. However that doesn’t invalidate how others feel about it. Just as 10/10 reviews are doubtful to those who think it isn’t, who are we to say they are wrong? This is why you don’t look at a single review but take into account a multitude of them. The larger the number, the closer it is to truth just like statistical math.

What can be contentious however is how you based your score. If there are falsehoods and omissions that are present then it gives doubt to a review. If the reviewers presents his work truthfully however, you can‘t fault them for that.

Just like they say, don’t kink shame people. A small minority actually do enjoy them despite the vast majority not liking it.

I don't think I can agree, the game should be judged on its own merit and not the PR bs that surrounds it. I just think this game is more than a 7...ah well.

If we judge it purely on merit and remove that it was made by BGS I can assure you that it is getting 4/10 or less

Reviewers are pretty forgiving on big Studios, any other game with the same bugs and outdated features would get destroyed by the press.

But it's standard now days to not use the entire scale, gaming reviews are usually from 6 to 10 instead of 0 to 10

We are sitting at 84 when there are dozen of 99s Reviews made by sites with Xbox in their name

Gotta love it when the obvious low post count alts start getting tag teamed.

Not seen that tactic before, no sir.

The desperation is palpable.
Although I agree with the 7/10 scores; I can absolutely see why someone might consider this game a 9/10. Especially if they never played any other space games before.

Right... Go straight for an insult while being disingenuous (not to mention subtly racist as well). Seriously, every time you're about to put down a white man, think about saying the same thing but substitute black in it's place. You guys are hypocrites on a daily basis. This video is almost an hour and a half covering many things regarding the game, not just pronoun crap. Maybe have some respect for your fellow human beings and a little introspection so you don't lose all your empathy.
First comment is race baiting dogshit and this guy is treating a video game like it’s some endemic problem with society. Maybe get real problems?

You referring to me?

I lurk on here quite a lot have have little time to post (still can't make a thread though, lol) but certainly no alt account. Think what you like, but the fact you jump to these conclusions and feel the need to post this is quite telling.

This game is everything I hoped for from Bethesda studios.
Is it perfect 10?
Ofc it is not, it is more in solid 8 range but who cares if you have fun 👍
Everything going as planned, every evening few hours of questing or exploration. This game will keep me entertained next 10 years.....maybe I will finish it one day😁

It isn't everything I hoped for, but it is still pretty damn good. Could have done better with the ship battles, but the boarding/taking over ships mitigates some of that. I've really come to enjoy the ship building aspect of the game. They did a good job with that although there is quite a bit of trial and error to figure it out. I can myself pouring hundreds of hours making new ships in future playthroughs. The rest of it is just prime Bethesda and it will only get better with age.

Thankfully yesterday's update seems to have addressed some performance issues. I'm pretty firm at a 9/10 based on how much enjoyment I've had playing the game these last two weeks.

More embarrassing than the Eurogamer review itself are their apologist 'supporters' in the comments defending their little piss hole of a site with every sinew.

Bunch of wankers.
please show us on the doll where Eurogamer hurt you

excuse us for being suspicious when there’s been a massive alt issue on GAF lately and you check all the boxes

neo account despite being here nearly 3 years? check
<100 posts? check
pops up to talk about how amazing Starfield is and how you’ll ignore reviews in the future? check

where were you when it was reviewing well during the early access period? 🤔 in fact all your posts since release have been about how the game is amazing despite some reviews saying otherwise

I'm having a great time with the game, but I knew that after BG3 it was going to be tough for Starfield. If only because there is something of massive quality and acclaim to immediately compare it against. Some of the reactions you just have to shake your head and say, yeah there is something else going on there. On both ends of the spectrum.

PS fast travel is great in Starfield when you need to zip between outposts and move around quickly to do things. Guaranteed that people would be complaining about how long travel takes because you have to manually fly everywhere, you're not respecting out time etc etc. Just like they already do in games like Elite and SC.
