Starfield Surpasses 15 Million Players (November Update Now Available)

Thick Thighs Save Lives

NeoGAF's Physical Games Advocate Extraordinaire

Thank you to the over 15 million players who are adventuring through the stars in Starfield!

We’re thrilled that so many of you have embarked on this journey with us, and we appreciate your feedback. We are always looking for ways to improve your experience playing the game and wanted to give our community an update on the most recent adjustments we’ve made to Starfield.

Quality of Life Improvements

Starfield’s November Update is now live! In this update, we’ve made some performance and stability improvements for all platforms and reintroduced the uncapped frame rate option for Xbox Series X users. We’ve also addressed several issues that were affecting the Tracker’s Alliance quests, as well as included fixes for some other quest issues that players were running into.

For a detailed breakdown of all changes and improvements, check out the full patch notes Update Notes.

Achievement-friendly Creations

We’re happy to share that we have implemented one of your highly requested features. As of the November Update, Starfield Creations released through the Verified Creators program will have the option to be achievement friendly. This means that certain Creations will no longer block achievements.
If you already have a Starfield creation installed, we encourage you to keep an eye on the Creations menu in Starfield or Bethesda Creations page for its achievement friendly status.
Achievements will not retroactively unlock on previous game saves with Creations, even if those Creations are now achievement friendly.

Deimog Land Vehicle

As a special gift to our players for our 15 million player landmark, get ready to conquer the terrain of unexplored planets with the all-new Deimog, the latest addition to Starfield’s lineup of high-performance land vehicles. Built for speed and endurance, the Deimog features a fully enclosed cabin to keep you protected as you race through rugged landscapes. Its exceptional handling allows you to navigate even the trickiest terrain with ease, while a powerful rocket launcher ensures you’re prepared for any threats—be it hostile wildlife or clusters of enemies.

Download your Deimog for free today from the Creations menu or here on the Creations site and expand your exploration toolkit with this exciting new ride!

This character-driven questline introduces you to Harbhajan, a gifted mechanic with a hidden passion for the culinary arts. When you stumble upon a dusty recipe book during your travels, you learn it belongs to Harbhajan—a once-hopeful chef whose ambitions were set aside for a more practical life. So the game has pretty much died in terms of engagement and attention, and even the latest updates and the DLC couldn't do much.

Hit 10 million players in less than 3 weeks: https://pk.ign.com/starfield/215261/news/starfield-hits-10-million-players-in-less-than-three-weeks

Then hit 12 million players by Dec. 2023: https://pk.ign.com/starfield/219262...had-over-12-million-players-phil-spencer-says

And could only add 3 million more players in almost a year, despite being available on Game Pass.

Are adventuring?

I think you they mean have adventured at some point.

15 million "players" in a year, with it being available on Game Pass.

In contrast, Fallout 4 shipped (aka actually brought all this in revenue) 12 million copies on launch day back in 2015.

Fall Guys also had that many, if not more, downloads in the single month that it was part of the PlayStation Plus monthly games.

For the studio that made Skyrim, this game is a gigantic critical and commercial failure, after being positioned pre-release as a Game of the Generation contender and a Breath of the Wild-style behemoth that could turn around the tables for Xbox as a whole this generation.

To the people who stick with this game, I really wanna know what other games they play on regular basis.

Would be a good study for what baseline quality they get happy with.
I played through it at launch. It was OK. It was basically just a run-of-the-mill Bethesda RPG but in space and with a couple new gameplay systems. Ship building + combat was fun.

I did the UC Vanguard faction quest line first and it was awesome, like a badass 80s action sci fi movie. Sadly everything else after that was pretty bland and forgettable.

Not a great game but not the total disaster that some make it out to be.

Man this game was such a disappointment. I remember thinking, okay let's going to explore planets, landing in different planets and finding place of interest that were exactly the same as in previous planets, with the same assets placement lol

I just cant believe they thought this was a good decision when making the game, and well there are more things that were just bad, including the writing

I'm up to around 70 hours played. I never remember whats going on story or side quest each time I log in.
I think I recently saved the entire planet from killer trees. but I forget.

Yes, but how many copies did they sell so far, exactly?

lol "players"

MS is going all in with bullshit misleading metrics.

MS bullshit sales metrics are twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools.

If any company ever pulls out bullshit metrics to show you, that means that the real metrics are too embarrassing to show you and that the game has done probably the exact opposite of what they are trying to convince you it did.

If they are saying players, that means actual sales must be rotten shit.

Incorrect?

How? By now, you must have seen everything the game has to offer.

(no offense, more power to you)
I slowly went through the main quest and a handful of side quests. Then I probably spent a good couple hundred hours on outpost building across a few planets and linking them... Then more time on ship building and obtaining upgrades and specialists parts... Upgrading stats and perks...
Dunno, the hours kinda just roll on but I've been having a blast. It's far from a perfect game but I think when it clicks it's great.

It's also so far from a Star Citizen scope, but to me it's the closest thing to it (that's out) that lets you role play several different roles in space.

At least you’re getting your money’s worth. It's awesome when a game "clicks" like that, and you just lose track of time while having a blast. I'm always chasing that feeling

I actually forgot this game had base-building, it’s easy to overlook or even ignore entirely in this game

I think Baldur’s Gate 3 completely spoiled me. I was really bummed because I was really looking forward to Starfield and it falls short of being great.

How many people purchased Stranger Things on Netflix? lol "streamers"

Netflix on those bullshit misleading metrics.

Stranger Things probably bombed.

You are not very good at being condescending.

It can be a boring game and it can be a great one, depending on how you decide to play it. I found it to be a great experience that I gladly spend more than 100 hours on. I made me happy the way not a lot of games do.

Nice. I have all achievements in the base game and expansion. Now I can mess with creations without busting future achievements.

New vehicle and new quest is nice.

Sunk Cost Fallacy. They were in too deep and the concessions had to keep on coming. Starfield should have been their testbed for a completely new engine for their winning formula.

Is this game actually any good now? I tried at launch but it was just uggh. Nothing felt unique, especially the npcs, they were all I can't quite describe it, but bland and meh..

The quests just didn't hit home and what really threw me off is going to Earth and it being a desert.

They could of made it in a different galaxy and not used our solar system. That would of been fine, but if you are going to use our galaxy, please make earth resemble earth, or have some armegedon event. And if there is an armegedon, make it so there is some rubble or sign of previous life.

The buggy looks cool, but I just uninstalled this for stalker 2. May just give it more time for more updates, or call it a loss.

The explanation and lore around Earth being abandoned and the way it is, is part of the main quest and several side quests

How many consoles has Xbox sold in the past 12 months?

There's a reason Xbox doesn't share numbers anymore and it's not because they are proud or honest.

Put that clown makeup on.
