Oh fucking come on, Japan! Louise over Makoto? >_>
*sigh* I suppose. It's just... *ugh*
Gunslinger Girls
HOLY SHIT GAF. How the hell did I not know about this show before? I saw some of the few people here with good taste (aka taste similar to mine lol) talking about it and I figured I might as well. Damn, I feel like I've been robbed by not having noticed it for all this time. It's not perfect but when I compare it to the popular crap that's airing now (I'm looking at you SAO) it feels like manna from heaven sent to reaffirm my faith in anime and to satiate my hunger for shows with that untouchable, unnameable spirit that lifts you up and makes you say "yeah, that was amazing".
Is the second season worth watching? I'm on a crazy high from this show and I don't want a horrible second season to destroy all the goodwill I have towards this show.
Also any other hidden gems? There are quite a few shows I've ignored for whatever reason, is haibane renmei good? If so I'll try that next.
Wow Gunslinger girls - 10/10 atmosphere, great use of music and the psychological aspects was almost meta in the way you yourself have to question the moe behaviour of the girls in the same way the cast does.
The only thing I've ranked as 1 is one of those worthless 80s OVAs, Dog Soldier.
Happy birthday icarus!
Toriko 72 (funi/hulu numbering)
I think I would never eat any sort of insect, just seems creepy and disgusting. Anyway emotional episodes but not much else to say about it. Oh I do love Komatsu and Toriko's close friendship.
Snazzy-looking bonus item from RightStuf for the first-run buyers of [C]. Too bad the show's not really worth it.
Cat Soup
Back when I watched Redline, I commented that if you were going to make something that's all about the visuals and the style, you should
"1) Keep it relatively short (30 minutes max would be ideal).
2) Keep it wordless."
This OVA certainly met both criteria. Its half-hour length did not overstay its welcome, and there is no talking except nonsense sounds and occasional written speech balloons. There is a plot - a young boy gets inadvertently toyed with by supernatural forces as he seeks the missing half of his sister's soul - but the emphasis is squarely on the surreal dream-like imagery. Masaaki Yuasa co-created the scenario with director Tatsuo Sato, storyboarded the piece, and produced the animation - you can certainly see in the human character designs, the distorted perspectives, the scraggly lines, the experimentation with different visual styles (particularly in the section where time is played with), and other aspects elements that would later reappear in Mind Game and Kemonozume.
One thing that can confidently be said about this is that it is disturbing. The designs for the cats are already disquieting, with their large black eyes, but then there is the casual, clinical approach to violence and death - people get chopped up and the world hardly bats an eye.
That pig scene in particular made me squeamish.
A brand new Chuunibyo Demo Koi ga Shitai video, "Lite Episode 1":
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QK_aZiizefg
This seems to be a mini-story that won't be part of the TV series. Look's like they'll be showing a new one via YouTube every week for an unknown length of time, taking down the previous week's each time a new video gets posted.
Also, two new updates on the site's character page: Yuta and Rikka's teacher Nanase Tsukumo (voiced by Kikuko Inoue), and Rikka's sister Toka Takanashi (voiced by Eri Sendai).
You guys give too many 10's. This is anime not video games.
10 doesn't mean perfect.

I can't stop watching this.
I can't stop watching this.
So they put Black Lagoon episodes 1 through 10 on Hulu and I finally bit and I'm feeling kinda mixed towards it.
Revy seemed cool but when Rock finally stood up to her I think she folded way too easy. I thought she was going to start crying or some shit. But anyways, I'd have shot rock my damn self, it's kind of insulting when someone says they've been sucking up to people their whole lives and all of a sudden are picking you to stop sucking up, how the fuck should a person take that? Revy shoulda' capped his bitch ass.
And the maid shit, damn that shit was BAAD. All in all I'll probably finish it though.
Also, that fucking Campione make out scene was terrible. It was awkward as shit to watch, more so than the usual awkward shit I watch yp make myself fall asleep.
Started Nadesico, Ruri rules.
That is all.

The amount of time you've dedicated to watching outright bad shows is incredible.
I'm too lenient with my grading.
Still no achievements
Maybe you just avoid bad anime.
Just realize Ducky's least liked studio is BONES according to that graph. azusalaughing.gif

No MAL is best MAL.Fuck it, if you're going to be like this, I'll just delete my MAL. :/
Even worse, it says one of my least favorites is SHAFT. Totally wrong.
I think it gets skewed if you watch a lot of stuff by one studio. I thought someone on here last time we did this had the same studio in their most liked/least liked but that might've been genre now that I think about it.
Its funny because its wrong =pFuck it, if you're going to be like this, I'll just delete my MAL. :/

Do it! Then you can join me in pretending that you take anime way less seriously than everyone else, which makes you cooler than them by default.
That's also why I try to keep myself off the "wall of shame".
Nerds!
And so ends probably the longest series I've watched on a week-to-week basis. They picked a good story for the final episode, along with

Don't fight Hosoda's new reign over anime.
