it was just a small, superficial comparison. Chill out.
You compared something someone likes to something they don't, there's nothing superficial about that!

Also Japanese players are always a bust!
Yeah, well...I kind of expect the worst from the Internet at this point.
I liked it; felt it was a good representation of the manga. That some people find Umaru's cuteness to not override her spoiled brat nature is kind of a given. I don't think it's something that you can expect to be universally liked.
But their relationship is very much a normal older brother/younger sister one with no romantic overtones.
I'd say I enjoyed the first episode of Himouto overall, it certainly doesn't deserve Oreimo comparisons. But basically everything set at school was dead air. It's all there to establish Umaru's outdoor personality but that was quickly displayed within 30 seconds. There's no other entertainment in the school scenes either, her classmates are clearly meant to be archetypes which would be fine if they didn't dedicate so much time to it this episode. The editing also feels sluggish for the jokes the show is trying to tell. While they still hit most of the time, they lacked the punch of well timed editing. Looking back at the Watamote anime, the way they packaged the NEET antics there was a lot more effective. Obviously that was going for a completely different tone but it was a full runtime show that successfully paced the sketch-like scenarios the protagonist found herself in without feeling stretched for material. I did enjoy the relationship between Umaru and her brother, it felt fairly natural and devoid of the stilted aura of many anime sibling relationships (Oreimo). As long as there isn't as much school time in future episode I'll look forward to watching it each week.
It was clear from the first episode that she wasn't that though. She can get on her brother's nerves but they still had fun times and memories together. On the other hand, Kirino was regularly antagonistic for no real reason.
Very good.
I'm not worked up. I'm just presenting information to fight incongruous comparisons. For other people this is pretty much the only observation they posted.it was just a small, superficial comparison. Chill out.
I'd split hairs to get away from Oreimo too I guess.I'm not worked up. I'm just presenting information to fight incongruous comparisons. For other people this is pretty much the only observation they posted.
That's 1 out of a million!Hideki Matsui won a world series MVP
Game set match
It just came out today.Hmmm. I have never heard of this. When did it air?
In the first 10 minutes of the anime, there's a scene where she basically says she can't admit to reading One Piece because she tells everyone she has a personal library at home and she reads poetry.Himouto is not about leading some secret otaku life. It's about being lazy as fk while this girl is out of the public eye. OreImo is an incest first show about some dude's sister being a secret moe/lolicon fanatic. One is an adaptation of a light novel. The other is an adaptation of a manga that can have chapters that are only a few pages long. Really the comparison is just baseless and lazy. If people don't want to pay attention then fine, whatever, but some people here really enjoy posting about anime they haven't watched/know nothing about and the drone of it all is rather annoying.
that's not true firemind, you can interpret anything based on what you want it to be. it's the only reason this thread exists!
euriphonium?
Well...that's not true firemind, you can interpret anything based on what you want it to be. it's the only reason this thread exists!
I hear the gears play brass instruments so that they can warm up their tongues for more sapphic after school activities. Etc etc. It's in the novels.stop
Production delays means I have to do it in two parts. Please understand.firehawks done a pretty good job of interpreting money for anime watching as anything but
oreimo does not actively bother me in the way it does other people here. i just dislike how much misinformation can spread in the thread.I'd split hairs to get away from Oreimo too I guess.
this is not what the show gave you. someone told you that you were wrong and now you are going off on some weird kick to try and vindicate your misinterpretation. if you don't like the show and weren't paying attention nobody cares. creating some bizarre narrative that fits your warped view of basic information is, again, spreading misinformation about the show and how it presents itself. In the first 10 minutes of the anime, there's a scene where she basically says she can't admit to reading One Piece because she tells everyone she has a personal library at home and she reads poetry.
The whole point of the episode is that she puts on a public face in public because she doesn't want people to know about her otaku side. Then they also show her manipulating her brother, partly using her public side as influence against him.
Some people here all seem to be obsessed with incest, which hey, this is the anime thread so I get that is what is on everyone's mind here. I just think she's about as sympathetic as Kirino (read - not at all) which made watching the first episode a chore.
I can only interpret the show based on what it gives me.
I didn't omit them on purpose, but for the purposes of not spamming.even on a fundamental level that you think one piece in japan is a measure of someone being an "otaku" is hilarious.
the character does not "tell everyone she has a personal library at home where she reads poetry". it's a rumor that took off around her and she just plays into it. this entire scene is not about being an otaku or whatever you think it is. it's about how people think this girl leads a lavish and culturally enriched life while she's just binging on trashy shonen manga.
idk. pretty convenient to screenshot the scene and leave out these lines:
Ahh anime gaf.oh my god i am literally spoon feeding you and you are spitting up all over me.
but s2 exists. you can't just ignore what oreimo is actually about lol
Just like you cant ignore Usagi Drop part two.
Jarmel got banned for something else too.First casualty of Summer was a result of Umaru-chan. Bet no one saw that coming.
RIP, first casualty of the season. *squint* Wait, what is the ban-able offense here?

Wow. This is literally the first time I've thought about The Tick since that live action Fox show. Not even the Tick anime?

Hunter X Hunter 001
Now that I'm on break I can finally see this show that everyone has been telling me to watch. The first episode is the standard introduction of character and setting, so nothing really notable. That will dwfinitely change from what I've heard. Can't wait!
Like I said, I didn't watch S2, so as far as I know, the brother fucked that goth cat girl and the sister is off on some stupid American track scholarship that only exists in this imaginary anime world.
You only had to watch part of the first season of Oreimo to see its intentions. Then again, a lot of people were in denial back then.
If this season breeds more weird defensive arguments on semantics than lewd posting I guess I can work with that.
Himouto 1
Absolutely adorable and somewhat funny. Definitely the weak part of the series until more of the cast comes in.
I don't know if I'm the only one here who just doesn't find the whole girl/monster mesh super unattractive, it seems to be quite popular though. Like do folks just like the franchise for the smut in it or what, because my brain has trouble finding any of the monster girls "hot". Specially the spider one. Screw that one.
Holy shit at these arguments. Why is it any time there is a little sister she is automatically screwing, or wants her older brother to screw her? Is this mindset really all Oreimo's fault?
Looked innocent to me, same for SNAFU and Charlotte. .. All innocent. .
Past my bedtime.
Our last announcement for the day is SCHOOL-LIVE!, starting on Thursday, July 9 at 7am Pacific Time
Chrunchyroll got Gakkou Gurashi (School-Live!).
I can personally attest to the fact that she did not score 100% on this test.

Add me to the camp that thought Oreimo's incestuous tones were readily apparent from the very first episode on (and title really).
That girl pretty much tells her brother she likes to watch little Imoutos getting banged by their brother, in VNs at least. Now she argues that she enjoys this stuff becausecue the most ludicrous reasoningshe thinks the little girls are so cuuuuuute.
...
Oh yeh, okay they may be cute to you but what about getting pounded by their older brothers, what is that all about? It just doesn't make sense. If you want to see cute little girls doing stuff you'd just watch Hidamari Sketch, you don't play ero games.
Whether the initial premise is comparable to Umaru-chan is another thing, but I find it hard to believe someone saw the first season of Oreimo in a completely innocuous light when the otaku-incest baiting was there pretty much from the get-go.
I'm so ready bowling my eyes out 2 years later ;________;
Sena is very cool dude, regretting ever thinking him gonna annoying when glimpse the OP lol
know they'll end up causing more trouble instead
Clearly someone didn't appreciate dimb's imagery there.
It probably wasn't for what was said in this thread. The body shaming thread was purged at the same time dimb went down.
