More rumor with positive things about this recent screening this time:

We've now heard from a well-placed source who has spoken to people who have seen the movie, and their feedback was a lot more positive.
Apparently, Superman was described as "Guardians of Galaxy-level good," and while some of the VFX was unfinished, a "lot of the shots were polished enough with seven months to go" before release. Those in attendance (that shared their opinions) reportedly "loved the movie."
Everything points to it being just ok, which is sad.

I honestly expect a huge movie with bold vision for the first entry of a new cinematic universe. It being "Guardians of Galaxy-level good" is nowhere near what I want it to be.

I always got the feeling that Gunn was playing it very safe with a "guaranteed" blockbuster. And for those you might not want it to be too bold, just entertaining and family-friendly. Hopefully it gets good numbers so that they feel more confident in having interesting sequels.

Firstly, why should we care about this guy opinion?
Secondly, he his saying this just because he BELIEVES a movie won't be test screen 7 months before releasing. Not because he has some insider info or anything.
He's the dude responsible for the behind the scenes portions of Fellowship and two towers for the Lord of the Rings home releases. He's produced and edited for a number of TV shows, the Olympics and even directed a movie or 3. Point is, he IS connected and has Hollywood Bonafides so I would believe him over Jeff Sneider.

He also did a lot of the Star Trek BD special features.

Thanks for the heads-up! But it's weird because a number of movies were tested well before their release (like this Superman apparently).

Now do I believe Sneider? Hell nah lmao, this dude is full of shit. Best is to wait and see as always.

I think he's just cautious because any Tom Dick or Harry can say "I saw a test screening and the movie sucks!" Without some explanation of the plot, it just sounds like "trust me bro"

Days like these...

Of what has been revealed so far very little has appealed to me. Not hating on the film or those who are hyped for it but unless there are tons of gaffers saying it's azmazing after seeing it I'll pass.

I remember following scoops on Batman vs Superman and Justice League very closely with some of the more enthusiastic movie forums back in the day. I remember the claims of standing ovations for BvS, and the people who got to see these films early, hinting off that the movies were great. It's pretty much the reason I stopped giving a shit about leaks, rumors, scoops, etc, and eventually adopted the attitude of whatever happens happens. I really enjoyed the MCU, but DC has always been more of my jam, and the Snyder - "Whedon-At-Home" Era of DC films killed my enthusiasm for comic book movies. That said, Superman is my #1 favorite, so I hope this will be good. But if it's not, well at least it's par for the course. Nothing I'm not used to.

Yep. WB are the kings of this kind of horseshit. No reason to suspect anything is different now.

How dare James Gunn have a character who flies resemble…..other characters flying! That plagiarizing monster!

Seriously, like why are you even including Adam Warlock? That’s also a James Gunn film for fucks sake. The man isn’t allowed a directing style?

And the Black Adam one is the only goofy one due to how overemphasized his head is in the shot. Hence why it got meme-d on. Nobody did that to Adam Warlock, because it’s a more natural looking shot, same with Superman shot.

Relax my friend, you know it's just a movie right? And I can share my opinion rather you like it or not.

You if said so

-then how about you say what you mean? Seriously, how much did you study these seconds of footage so you could find something to nitpick?

-it would be nice if you would have something meaningful to say in said opinion then. Saying “this man’s film reminds me his other film” is about as useful as saying to a man with a sword straight through his chest that he looks like he’s in pain.

-…..you having a stroke? The hell is that sentence?

Why the aggressivity? Yes I made a mistake, I wanted to say "If you say so".

Anyway, it seems you're the only one who didn't understand what I meant, which was pretty clear to begin with. So I don't think explaining it again would change anything.

Whether, not rather.

Sorry... Just brought out the grammar Nazi in me.
Thanks for the correction, as a non-English speaker it helps :D

No, I didn’t understand what you meant. You posted three shots of people flying, and no additional context. All I can take from that is you think the shots look similar, which is like, “no shit, two of these are from the same director even!” It’s a person flying scene, there’s only so many angles you can do that from.

So do you have anything meaningful to say? Hiding behind a “I don’t think explaining it again would change anything” is deflection, and dishonest too because you didn’t explain it to me the first time! You threw some sarcasm at me and that was it, last time I checked that’s not a fucking explanation.

I honestly don't know if you're being disingenuous. Everyone got what I meant but not you so ok, I'll explain
The problem with the shot of Corenswet -apart from the odd focal length - is not the angle, it's the way his head moves, the way it seems totally detached from his body, almost floating with his deadpan frozen expression. All of that indeed gives a weird callback to Black Adam.

Of course that is just my opinion, and I'm no expert :messenger_spock:

Maybe don’t post pictures next time, because that tells me to look at the pictures and compare them. Why would I think to compare footage especially as you didn’t provide footage of the other two films’ scenes.

I don’t see how you’re getting that from his head. Maybe his head is doing something odd as he spins, but one would have to slow the footage down to really notice, and obviously that’s not how films are meant to be viewed, so criticisms like that are meaningless to me. Once his body is mostly in position, he’s just slightly moving his head to stay parallel to the ground below him. Makes sense to me.

I don’t think that’s what barely anyone remembers from that Black Adam moment. What was being meme’d was how overly focused the shot was on his head. Like it almost looks slightly detached from the rest of his body or his neck must be stretching to its absolute limit with his head pushed so forward. That’s obviously not the case with the shots of Adam or Superman.

Maybe this will picture it better:

Tyler's Superman is looking damn good even in the shots very similar to the one with Corenswet. Now if you don't see any problem it's ok, we can disagree 🤷‍♂️

I don’t personally see a problem, but also the film is still six months away, they still have time to touch up effects and such.

This has disaster written all over it... isn't this is the second time Gunn had to explain a scene not being as bad as it actually looks after doing the same with the first teaser pic ... If you as a director have to explain to the viewers why a scene is the way it is then you or your crew aren't doing your fucking job properly cuz unless you're doing a production commentary screening the viwers won't give a shit about anything outside the actual movie on screen.

God do I HATE this shot style, its as ugly and prevalent lately as that damn stupid JJ Abramas artificial zoom shot that everyone forced into their films for a few years (I know he didn't start it, but I most associate it with his films. It was super prevalent in Battlestar Galactica Reboot also).

Yeah unless there is some kind of miracle and it's orders of magnitude better than what we've seen this looks like it's going to flop hard.

The dad bod from the angle of this shot is wild I couldn't have shot this worse if I tried and I know fuck all about filming. Gunn is pissing me off I don't think I've ever wanted a film to tank but I'm getting close to changing that and I'm not even a superman fan.
