That said, while I like and play gacha games, I do think something like Stellar Blade actually deserves this spot. It’s kind of weird to see a bunch of gachas ruling the options. Clearly getting motivated by free rewards from these companies.

Bots most likely. It's very easy to write a bot to do this with automation tools. I don't think the website even had mechanisms to stop bots voting.

Could be, but China has more people than NA and Europe combined. If China votes focus on Chinese games then non-Chinese games are at a huge disadvantage.

Black Myth Wukong has this in the bag most likely due it being the 1st traditional AAA game coming out of China, but I wouldn't mind a dark horse like Wuthering Waves winning it.

Yup it's better than the others on the list. Game was very good with the attractive characters being a plus. Around 70k reviews on PSN with a 96/100 rating which is the true score and not the shitty journalist score from metacrtic. Although Rebirth and especially Space Marine 2 deserves it even more. Space Marine 2 deserve goty the most.

Stellar Blade has a user metacritic of 92, (It made the top 10 picks by the users, just not the top 5 that we see now), so yeah its a bigger GOTY contender than any of the gachas there. Gacha games give rewards to the players when they win awards so not surprizing alot of players voting for them.
Its probably the most miserable player choice selection of games i seen in a long while. The inclusion of DLC for GOTY was a mistake. From that list only Black Myth is a decent pick.
